  1. Just added my first Link Sensor and ISY added "Sensor-Wet," Sensor-Dry" and "Sensor-Hear." It shortened Heartbeat to just Hear and I didn't think it linked properly so I deleted it and re-linked but it wrote the same thing. I'm wondering if this is potentially problematic or something in v4.2.5 I've read where Sensor-Heartbeat should remain "On" unless Sensor-Wet is On but I've test the sensor and with "Wet" On Heartbeat remains On. I'm using the program "belias" developed http://tinyurl.com/jwwnxp7 and it seems to run fine, giving me notification for "Wet" but I'm not sure "Heartbeat" is working. I'm also curious as to the frequency "Heartbeat" signals. Thanks, Jon
  2. I don't use variables a lot but this made it very easy for me! Just installed it and everything seems to work fine.. my only question is when I linked the sensor ISY recorded 3 devices.. Sensor-Wet, Sensor-Dry and Sensor-Hear. Seems to have cut off the full name "Heartbeat" and shortened it to "Hear." I wasn't sure it linked correctly so I deleted it and re-linked but got the same thing. Just curious if this is new in 4.2.5?
  3. Yes, thank you LeeG... This method seems to be the correct way to replace a defective device. Jon
  4. I need to know how to correctly use this option in the "Context Menu." I'm replacing a Switchlinc whose toggle off isn't working and going to use it elsewhere where I don't need a local toggle. My thought is I can install the new Switchlinc in place without removing the dis-functional Switch from ISY, Link the new switch and then use "Replace" to change all links?
  5. I haven't had to use "Remove" in some while and don't know when the change was made but Wiki still shows "Remove" as being part of the "Context Menu." http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Replacing_a_Device
  6. Wiki http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:INSTEON_Device#Remove shows "remove" and no "delete." I'm curious now if "remove" cleared the device database and reset config options... if so, I would think "remove" to be more useful than "delete."
  7. I wasn't confused:) In prior versions there was the option to "remove" a device. That's what I was referring to.. That option makes more sense to me than "delete." Doesn't a factory reset also remove links in the device? Anyway.. "remove existing links" I typically use even on new devices just to make sure:)
  8. Yes, Thanks LeeG... I think having the "remove" feature is more intuitive than "delete." Sorta like deleting a windows program folder without uninstalling it first. Jon
  9. Yes, I'm going to remove it and place it elsewhere for different use so I want to remove all links in ISY to it. Thanks, Jon
  10. This is what I have...
  11. How do you unlink a device from ISY now? There used to be a "Remove" feature but now I see "Replace." The way I'm looking at this I should "factory reset" the device (I'm reusing it,) physically remove it, install new and link it to ISY then do the "replace?" Or am I confused:?) Jon
  12. I see.. Good I guess for those remote locations.. I don't have one of those yet Jon
  13. Ok.. but I don't see an application other than monitoring devices to see they're working. Thanks, Jon
  14. As a "Status" condition I've recently noticed the option for "responding." I haven't seen examples and am curious how it might be used. Thanks, Jon
  15. Thanks... I knew nothing when I started looking into this. I still don't understand why manufacturers don't make a 120v smoke that will transmit to the panel. That would make the entire operation easy. Jon
  16. Though I haven't been able to speak with a Fire Marshal, the information I've been able to gather suggests the auxiliary alarm relays manufactured for 120v 2/4 wire systems are not rated for or advised to be used with security systems. Lots of problems seem to occur outside of the fact this type of installation violates the NEC/NFPA and will void any warranties on equipment. They seem to be manufactured to trigger auxiliary warning devices as sirens and lights only. There appears to be no way to legitimately connect a 120v unmonitored smoke detector system to the security panel. Jon
  17. I see.. the relay is hardwired to one of the controller's fire zone inputs. Hmm.. I'll have to check on that. Thanks, Jon
  18. How'd you rig up this relay system. Thanks, Jon
  19. Wired sensors (and I'm referring to power) are available but none that I'm aware of will transmit as some wireless sensors do. I wanted to keep the hard wire so the battery would merely be backup but all in all it's looking easier to just swap 'em out with wireless transmitters Jon
  20. I guess that's because of the possibility of false alarms? There would be no dependency on Insteon for what equals the current operation nor would the current operation be handicapped if Insteon failed. The fire alarms would still sound and the one sensor which is monitored would dispatch. I'm just looking for a way to turn the unmonitored hard wired alarms into monitored alarms. My thinking is they should manufacture a hardwired sensor that signals the controller just as a wireless sensor would do but there must be a reason why they don't. Thanks, Jon
  21. I have the Vista 20p w/one monitored smoke detector. I'm thinking about changing out my unmonitored, contractor grade, hard wire detectors to First Alert ONELINK and using the Insteon Smoke Bridge for notifications. I would like however to incorporate the unmonitored alarms into the Vista 20p with a z-wave bridge but don't see a way to accomplish this or even if it's possible. If anyone has any experience or insight I'd appreciate the info. Thanks, Jon
  22. Is there a way to simulate the modules data? Thanks, Jon
  23. Thanks, Jon
  24. http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i_Series_INSTEON:Light_Data_Program I'm confused as to what is changing the status of the program Wait to Change Outside Lights. Is it when Else is run last the status becomes False and when Then is run last the status is True? Thanks, Jon
  25. Weather Bug supplies the following data that I'm unfamiliar with and they're all expressed as unit/h. I'm guessing it's the rate of change per hour but don't know. Also, curious if anyone is using the data? Temperature Rate = (x)F/h Humidity Rate = (x)%/h Pressure Rate = (x)inches/h Light Rate = (x)%/h Thanks, Jon
