  1. Rand, thanks for responding. I wrote up my solution last night and then forgot to hit Submit. I'm running all over preparing for the party. It's back up and running. Sometimes I am so dense. LOL
  2. I unplugged the PLM then plugged it back in. No luck. I unplugged my router and plugged it back in. No luck. I unplugged the ISY and plugged it back in. HURRAY! That fixed it. Nothing like a lock up right before a major party to cause me to panic big time. Whew!
  3. Dang! I have a big Halloween party tomorrow and the ISY is not responding. It was working a few minutes ago then stopped after Firefox updated to 3.6.11. Have no idea what happened and no clue how to get going again. I don't get a login screen just ERROR Not found. ISY finder opens but does nothing. Any ideas?
  4. hi Michel, Thanks! Do I need to install jumper 5? I haven't found any instructions as to what jumpers if any need to be installed. i am assuming jumper 5 needs to be installed. Todd
  5. Michel, Sorry, I should be more careful regarding my conclusions. So would you say it's safe for me to download 2.8.3? I have a fairly recent PLM 2413S. I clicked on the first link you provided and i can see the addtional UI options for the 2420M. FANTASTIC! Thanks!
  6. Occupancy sensing is not in the instructions that come with the MS. But LeeG describes how it works in this thread. His post is about half way down on page 1. http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewtopic.php?t=5166
  7. 2.8.3 has been released but it appears to have a nasty bug. Good news though, it will have a "occupancy" setting for the 2420M. When enabled the 2420M will send an ON command whenever motion is detected irregardless of the timeout. For me this is exactly what I am looking for. As long as I am moving around outside the 2420M will send an ON command irregardless of it's timeout therefore continually resetting the ISY timer. Thank you UD!
  8. Michel, I'm looking forward to you getting that nasty bug out of 2.8.3. Control of the 2420M motion sensor via the ISY is a feature set I have been looking forward to. I've spent many hours fussing with that darn 2420M. Many grumblings by me on this site, certainly not any fault of the ISY. I am thrilled that you're coming to the rescue for those of us looking for decent functionality out of the 2420M. Occupancy sensing will keep my outdoor lights on as I move around. LOVE IT! Todd
  9. Kingwr, Thanks for the additional information. I did have the left pot set fully counterclockwise. Maybe my ISY is not resetting the timer? ISY timeout is 2 minutes, MS is 30 seconds. From what I understand I should get another ON command from the MS if it sees motion after it's original 30 second timeout, and if before the ISY 2 minute timeout, shouldn't this reset the ISY timer? After typing the above paragraph I think I know what may be happening. The MS keeps seeing motion before it's 30 second timeout thus resetting it's timer so I am not getting another ON to keep the ISY timer resetting. Perhaos te solution is to make the ISY timeout longer. I will continue to experiment. Thanks again for your help. Looking forward to 2.8.3.
  10. Kingwr, I'm obviously missing something in your program. I know it's not a defective MS unless I have two defective sensors as I've tried this program with two different sensors, both V2.0. The MS doesn't seem to be resetting my timer, My timer runs for 2 minutes and then turns off even though I can see the LED in the MS flash as I move around. Sometimes the light is off and won't come back on even though the LED on the MS flashes. If I wait a while then move around the light will come on. Very erratic control. I've tried Status and Control. Maybe MS is not sending ON signals often enough to reset my counter. Jumper 3 and 4 are on. Pot is not fully counter clockwise but MS is in a dark place and it reports that DUSK/Dawn is ON. My Access point is about 5 feet away. I'm running 2.7.15 If Control 'Pond Motion-Sensor' is switched On Then Set 'House / Basement / Den Sink D4' On Wait 2 minutes Set 'House / Basement / Den Sink D4' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')
  11. After several hours of experimentation, removing then resetting then relinking the MS a couple of times, I was becoming convinced that the counter-clockwise position is where I wanted it to be. With jumper 3 on and the pot at about 9 o'clock (7 o'clock being fully counter-clockwise) I think I am starting to get the darkness to where I want it to be. Still not 100% sure yet. Kingwr, Thanks for the reply. Do you have jumper 3 installed? As best I can tell the instructions imply that jumper 3 needs to be installed for the pot to work. Is that you understanding? i hate to take jumper 3 off for fear of messing up the sensor. I appreciate your help. I thought about using dusk to dawn condition in the ISY but was worried about using up the battery faster. Do you get good battery life with your set up? Doesn't it transmit RF 24 hours a day when it sees motion, rather than only at night? Sorry I'm still confused on what the fully counter clockwise position is doing. I like your setup. I was wondering how to make it leaves lights alone that are already on. Now I understand I chuckle when I visit Smarthome's web site and it states how easy Insteon is.
  12. i found this thread http://forum.universal-devices.com/view ... ght=motion and it explains why I am not crazy, LOL. I can't wait for 2.8.3 which will supposedly give us more control of the 2420M via the ISY. After reading the above thread I have removed jumper 5. Apparently jumper 5 disables jumper 3 (night only mode) No wonder it continues to operate in the daytime). Jumper 3 is still installed and I continue to try and tweak the pot to get the desired result. At this time I have no idea if I'm making any progress. I currently have jumper 4 installed as well which tells the 2420M to not send an OFF. I don't know if this is a good thing or not. 1. I would appreciate any advice on these settings. I want the sensor to operate only dusk to dawn. I want it to be fairly dark. 2. I am having problems with my program as well. Rather than explain all the variations I have tried perhaps some of you would be kind enough to post your programs or some examples. I do not know if I should use IF STATUS ... is ON or IF CONTROL ... is ON. I have a wait statement in the program so I can adjust the ON time via the ISY instead of opening the sensor. I think this may be getting me in trouble. 3. I am currently controlling only x10 devices in my program. The strange thing is the first x10 device seems to get ignored. Device 2 thru x responds. Any ideas? 4. Is there a place where I can find example programs? I have more questions but I will not get greedy. Thanks, Todd
  13. Thanks Lee. I check that out. You are a fountain of knowledge.
  14. I changed my evening lighting scene so that one lamp will ramp up over 9 minutes. But it still ramps at the 1 minute rate. The lamp itself is set to 1 minute but in the scene it is set to 9 minutes. Maybe i don't understand? I thought a scene setting for a device would take precedence over the "default" settings for a device.
  15. Ok, so Java updated and must have messed with the link in my start menu. i unoinned the isy admin console from the start menu then re-pinned it. Now it works. Maybe this will help someone else.
  16. Ok, if I start the admin console by clicking start, all programs, ISY99i Series, 99i Administrative Console, it will run. So somehow my link in my start menu is bad. I need to figure out how I created that link. I'm so dense sometimes. LOL
  17. Edit: When I click on the Administrative Console link in my start menu i get an error message that Java is unable to launch application (end edit). A new version of Java wanted to install so i let it. I also downloaded app updates via itunes but that shouldn't affect the program on my PC. I have no Idea why I'm getting this error message. Any ideas? I saved the link to my ISY in the start menu. Did something change? How did I get that link in my start menu? I don't remember. Sorry about being such a dummy.
  18. Once again, thank you Lee! You are a man of great Insteon knowledge! Thanks to your assistance, my programs controlling the 6-button KPL are working flawlessly. Now I can graduate to another Insteon device. LOL Todd
  19. Hi Michel, I'm not really sure. I have all the buttons 1, A, B, C and D listed for the 6-button KPL in the tree. It kind of sounded like I should see LEDs in addition to the buttons, but maybe I am misunderstanding? I am currently using the buttons to turn the LEDs on and off and it seems to be fine. Just wasn't sure if I should have access to the LEDs in addition to the buttons. Maybe they are the same thing and people use different terms? Todd
  20. I'd like to try re-linking my KPL using it's address and device type just to see if I can get LEDs to show up in the tree. I can't find the thread that described what to do. I know how to add an Insteon device, which provides a window to enter the device's address and type. but I don't recall if I need to unlink or remove the device first. Does anyone know if I need to unlink or otherwise remove the KPL before I link it manually?
  21. My new scenes: KPL.1 If Control 'House / Theater / Theater Main KPL.1' is switched On Then Set Scene 'House / Theater / Scenes / Theater House Lights' On Set Scene 'House / Theater / Scenes, KPL Button LEDs / KPL Buttons ABCD' Off Set Scene 'House / Theater / Scenes, KPL Button LEDs / KPL button 1' On Send X10 'O1' Send X10 'O/Preset Dim (12)' Send X10 'O2' Send X10 'D/Preset Dim (12)' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') button C: If Control 'House / Theater / Theater Main KPL.C' is switched On Then Set Scene 'House / Theater / Scenes / Theater Intermission' On Set Scene 'House / Theater / Scenes, KPL Button LEDs / KPL Buttons 1ABD' Off Set Scene 'House / Theater / Scenes, KPL Button LEDs / KPL button C' On Send X10 'O1' Send X10 'O/Preset Dim (12)' Send X10 'O2' Send X10 'D/Preset Dim (12)' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') My scenes simply contain the KPL primary and or secondary buttons.
  22. thanks Lee. That will save me the trouble of testing that method. My tree is like yours except mine is a 6 button so it only has 1, A, B, C and D. Programs are now working beautifully! I tested my programs using the all led buttons off scene followed buy the scene that turns one on. Not as elegant as it causes one extra flash on the keypad. The most elegant method to date is to have one scene that turns off all LEDs except one followed by a scene that turns one LED on. Magnificent! I think I'm all set unless that gremlin pops up again. Thanks again!
  23. Lee, Thanks for your help! I made more scenes that combined each combination of OFF LED buttons in it's own scene. Now instead of 5 scene lines to turn LEDs OFF and ON, i am down to two scene, one scene turns off 4 out of 5 LEDs and the next line turns one on. As I write this I think maybe I could have one scene that turns off all LEDs and the next line could call a scene to turn the one on. My tree will be a bit cleaner that way. This is noticeably faster and much more elegant. Thanks again!
  24. In my lighting tree, they show up under the primary button, accessible by clicking on the little + next to the name. I recall that this view has changed over the various iterations of the software. Mine is v2.7.14. You did not happen to manually (typing in the address) add the KPL, did you? I'm on version 2.7.15. I don't have "+" next to my primary button. I read somewhere on this forum where someone could not see the secondary buttons (or was it LEDs?) and that removing and then adding the KPL by using the KPL's address fixed the problem. I wonder if I should see the LEDs and what does that do for me? The buttons seem to work but maybe they have a detrimental affect at some point? Programs seem OK at the moment. I need to figure out how to remove my KPL and add it back in using it's address. Curious what that will do. Edit: I may have read that in the wiki under the KPL 286 section. I'll have to look again.
  25. Lee, I wish I knew how to insert an image. Id like to show a screen shot of my lighting tree. Where are the LED buttons listed in the tree? I don't see them. I only see the buttons and those are what I've been using to build my LED scenes. Yesterday when I built the scenes with all the buttons as responders the KPL switch stopped working which is what prompted this thread. So last night I rebuilt the button scenes and defined them as controllers. Then The KPL started working again. So I thought I understood what I did and how I needed to build button LED control scenes in the future. As a personal sanity check and partly based on what you said in the post immediately preceding this one, I again rebuilt the button scenes and defined them as responders. I thought for sure that the button scenes where disabling the buttons and the switch would again stop working as a controller. But now that all button scenes are defined as responders, not controllers, the switch still works. Now I have no idea why the switch stopped working and then started working again. I'm really confused now. LOL Oh well maybe the switch just got confused, happens to me all the time. LOL I still need an LED ON command for each program because I control the lights via my iphone (Mobilinc) so at times I do not physically touch the KPL. So I think I still would need at least two scenes to control the LEDs. One could combine all the OFFs as you suggest but I still need to call the specific scene for the one ON LED. If I always used the switch then i wouldn't need an ON. Combing all the OFFs should speed it up a bit. Thanks for the tip I'm going to try that now. Back to the LED buttons, I still don't get where the LED buttons are listed in the tree, or are they? Are they listed as a separate item somewhere? I don't see them. When I build my scenes for the LED buttons I simply drag the KPL switch "device"? button (I guess that's what it is called) to the scene. Is that correct? There is no specific listing for the LED of each button? Just drag the device button and drop it on the scene? Are there any examples of these kinds of programs? I am aware of the wiki but haven't found any examples with screen shots for turning LEDs on and off on a KPL. Seems like a popular thing to do as Smarthome didn't build it in to the switch. Mine seems to work now, no idea why it stopped working then started again but I guess I should be happy it's working again. LOL Todd
