I think if you just use what you have now will be fine. Why spend more cash on something that has no real benefit besides being a true relay On / Off? Plus, its huge, phat, and a pain to work around the ground strap.
-
I honestly don't know other than the simple fact those KPL relays are phat! If you have lots of space and not a lot of box fill. It should not be a problem until you see that massive 12 gauge ground strap in the front of the metal clip! M-hahahahahahah
-
You better make sure the J Box has plenty of room to fit that monster in! The KPL dimmer is only 1.2" while the KPL relay is 1.7" and has a huge aszz 12 gauge ground strap that you're going to have to smash into the drywall. Don't even think about trying to fit it into the KPL table top enclosure yet! Well, not until we find out where the other member got the awesome trim ring!

Yes, all you need to do is purchase the 8 button conversion kit and follow the manual to set it up as so.
-
Yes, it comes in a 6 button relay: http://www.smarthome.com/keypadlinc-insteon-2487s-6-button-scene-control-keypad-with-on-off-switch-dual-band-white.html

Yes, but I would call in to the POCO and talk to a human being about this whole process first! Almost every member who has engaged the POCO to enrol into the HAN service has been met with less than knowledgeable people.

No, its a physical hard material he's using. On the cell phone it does appear like a piece of tape. When you enlarge the photo on your computer you can see its a physical hard ring material.

Dual band KPL dimmers fit (1.2"), dual band relays which are much thicker do not (1.7").
-
What are you using for that trim ring?

MikeBro, I don't believe anyone is saying that at all. Simply that the ISY-99 Series Controller is end of life and future Insteon products are not supported at this time. I am sure Michel will chime in with a fix to this silly cert issue. I would be very shocked if this cert issue would prevent those who do not intend to upgrade to a newer 994 Series Controller from operating. As I have two of them right now that seem to be working fine but would be very upset too if they stopped working just because of a expired cert??

I would ask you to state how many programs you have sending mail. Along with the times they are being issues and to how many people. I have noticed if there are lots of programs with (time conditions) of when an email is supposed to be sent. Emails can be missed, the solution for me was to stagger the send interval, change the time a condition should send an alert, and also prioritize who should receive the first email. Just something else to consider assuming this is not a network related issue. One thing I did not see mentioned was rebooting the ISY to see if this makes any difference to the outcome. Rock On . . .

The new dual band on/off outlet linc should take care of that issue soon!

If you're using the ISY default gmail account it may be having some problems again. I know of at least two incidents where the UDI server was either offline, or was sending out mass emails from the past. Most people are using their own personal (dedicated ISY) gmail account for this.

That was a great thread and I really learned a lot about the product. Glad they gave you the refund at the end. Encrypted By: Phoenix Security Solutions

I have struggled with doing that but didn't want to explain it to the kids why dads a potty mouth LOL! In the man cave I could slip a few in. Encrypted By: Phoenix Security Solutions

A couple things I did different from your install was that I performed a factory reset of the smoke bridge even before it was ever linked. I find this step very important to ensure no ghosts are in the machine. Next I add the device to the ISY Series Controller. I then link the smoke bridge to the one link device. Last, test using the unit and observe email and state change in the ISY UI. For the sake of asking you do have both sides of the electrical feed coupled and bridged right? Confirmed via the 4 tap method and using the install manual for those devices? Encrypted By: Phoenix Security Solutions

That would fit perfect on a six button KPL! LOL, I might have to steal that one from you! Promise to quote you on my wall of fame! Encrypted By: Phoenix Security Solutions

Trying to show the OP the color difference between the two items. The crappy picture makes it hard to tell but I assure you its different but to the average person is more than fine.
-
It should work with any SMTP provider. Having said this it costs you nothing but time to set up a free g-mail (dedicated) email account for the ISY.

One of the simplest things to do is delete the device and add it back into the scene. If it works then you're good to go! If it doesn't then check the four items we all mentioned above. Encrypted By: Phoenix Security Solutions

Also to note the custom keys are a different colour than the OEM keys. The custom keys are grey in colour and the OEM are a shade of green. The white chichlet is also a different hue of white. Custom keys are definitely the most professional way to go for long term use. Expect from the time of ordering to your door about 3.5 weeks. Encrypted By: Phoenix Security Solutions

Also, to add this make sure the ramp rate isn't set for something like 9 minutes! That would appear to the user the light is off. I would also check to make sure the device isn't set to always off mode.
