I had this on the radar for quite a while but simply forgot. As a quick break fix I changed my SMTP to another email provider: GMX Later I enabled 2FA on my Google account and followed their instructions to obtain their 16 character randomly generated password. I inserted the same into a few network appliances and email has been restored. When time permits I’ll try the same on the three ISY Series Controllers. NOTE: I used the same method on another appliance but it didn’t work. The vendor indicated other security formatting needed to be updated (firmware) to their network appliance for this to work. I’ll make a how to later unless someone beats me to it today.

Received Polisy and PLM 2413s - setup issues
Teken replied to Prana electric's topic in New user? Having trouble? Start here
Yes, use the serial to RJ45 cable hidden inside of the 2413S box. A standard Ethernet cable won’t allow a serial connection to the Polisy. -
I have to say the author of that web blog did a fantastic job in laying out all of the steps. @FloridaGary Thanks for sharing this new resource with the community! ? Rock On . . . ???

I'll take your word for it since you've always been a straight *shooter* <- See what I did there? ?Having Alpha / Beta tested their hardware early on the system was less than stellar in almost every way. If things have changed that's great to hear . . . ? I will continue to use the tried and true method with zero errors because it just works! ? As it relates to the application / API I gather this announcement means those who had the most basic access now is able to have all the fancy bells and whistles???

Off the top of my head I don’t recall any serious company ever asking money for their application and API?!? This isn’t music, video, or a game . . . I could understand if they restricted access to big players or asked for a NDA as it relates to the API. But, 99.99999% of all so called cloud only services offer both free! Because that drives adoption, market share, and long term growth. The fact people even considered paying for one or both just shows a lack of common sense for a half aszz product. [emoji1787]

As @lilyoyo1 mentioned if the Insteon smart application is still accessible to view the Insteon ID that would be the easiest approach. If that isn't available then you tap and add each device manually to add it to the ISY Series Controller. Anything you can not reach or see for tap & add you will need to read the Insteon ID label.

I'm going to offer you some advise that will on the surface sound like a lot of work. But, in the long run will save what little hair is on your head and keep your blood pressure down to a single bar. - Factory reset all existing hardware as outlined by the full users manual. - Take a picture of all the Insteon ID's and record it to a spreadsheet. - Add all of the hardwired devices first - Add the wireless devices last Once the entire system is fully operational with scenes, programs, timers etc. Make a back up of the same and place it on three different locations and media: Cloud, USB, Computer system(s). The ISY Series Controller allows you to save a topology map and their associations. So if you ever have to start from scratch you can reference this to speed up the deployment. In the device tree when you right mouse click is the option to create a *Note*. Use this to track what ever from replacement of hardware to battery changes. If you decide to use what people often refer to *Crawling the network* you're going to living with a time bomb and less hair on your head . . .

As always I thank everyone for the quick reply! ?

It's been quite a while since I touched the Polisy due to competing project demands. I had a few moments to review some of the ongoing threads as it relates to the current state and best practices to get ISY to Polisy. The Polisy is currently running 5.3.0 and the hardware is running version 2.2.13 / front end 2.2.9-5 which is connected to my Z-Wave test box running 5.0.16C as I have not upgraded that controller with the latest 5.XX Z-Wave card. Regardless, once the Polisy showed up on the finder the system indicates there is a crazy block of bad memory?!? Also to offer some more clarity Michel as always was gracious enough to help me a few months back in replacing a bad eMMc card on the Polisy. I'm not sure if this new eMMC card could really have so many bad sectors given the controller has been fired up only a handful of times and shut down properly via the dashboard. If others can check their systems to see if the same / not is present it would be very helpful. As if its a simple display bug I'll just carry on until such time as this is fixed. If on the other hand this is not a display bug but a sign of a pending drive failure I rather have this addressed before the big push to migrate!

Yes, the system indicates dhcp client is running as pid 816.
-
Yes, still no joy but as stated doesn't seem to impact the controller in any way.
-
Thanks for that screen capture of yours. I'm not sure why the DNS & GW are not populated but are when hardwired. It doesn't seem to impact the controller at all as I see data being retrieved and sent to the various cloud portal services?!? I don't know . . . ?

I see the same and was finally able to get the controller to lock on and connect to the isolated network. Sometimes network appliances don't behave correctly when tethered all the while trying to make a wireless connection. Once I thought the wireless connection was made I rebooted the system and disconnected the hardline - no joy. I must have tried easily a dozen times and just randomly it stuck??? Regardless, please advise me if you see any DNS entries in the three fields as mine is still blank??

I believe this has been sorted out as to *Why its not there*. Back in the day I recall the WiFi showed up as WLAN and not just IGB0 ~ IGB2 etc. I toggled through the list and poof the system began updating itself. Now, the system presents the WiFi boxes I recall from the past. Like others there appears to be an issue with how the system connects to the network. Also I don't recall if the unit support dual band 2.4 / 5.0 - Yes / No? As I see my 5.0 network on the list but can't connect to it either??
-
Sorry to pile on but I used to see the option to connect to a WiFi SSID. Since installing a new mSata drive (Thanks Michel) I no longer see it. Was there also not a scan button somewhere - not here now??

I leave the forums for just a minute and everyone is just raging on! ?

Can an antagonist be a hero? A Hero Antagonist is a character who is an antagonist (that is, they oppose The Protagonist), yet is still technically a hero.... They could also be completely correct in their assertions simply because the main character is a Villain Protagonist. ?

Open Close sensor perpetually needs updates to be written
Teken replied to Oakland Jeff's topic in ISY994
If you have a Pro version turn off battery writes. It will make all battery operated devices grey in color. Go to one single device and right mouse click and select write updates to device. -

That’s the best you can offer?!? Weak sauce . . . [emoji2357][emoji1787]

Did my reply change the material FACTS?!? No . . . Did Michel affirm what I stated up above?!? Yes . . . Is this forum open for the community to offer their knowledge and insight?!? Yes . . . Are you the only key holder to offer an answer on the forums?!? The f^cken hubris . . . [emoji107]

That is the whole point of science to learn and iterate. It’s not opinion it’s the facts on hand at that time to come up with hypothesis. The two should not be confused with opinion . . . As I stated early on one must obtain unbiased information to obtain the facts. Just because 15 iSheep say yes he crossed the road when they never even saw me. You eliminate that data point because they are too stupid to live! [emoji3516]
