  1. Ok I just realized that what I said was wrong!! The address 48.EA.C6 is actually the address of my new PLM!! As I tried to explain, I no longer have the mismatch. After the restore device the mismatch disappeared. And the AA line is now gone. My home ISY, when I did the device restore would have one instance of the AA disappear but the other one remained in both tables, therefore no mismatch either. The address of the device is 1D.AD.A6 and the device is a 2477D Dual Band Switchlink Dimmer v41.
  2. Here is a screenshot I took earlier today of one instance where the AA showed up as a record mismatch when I did the compare. Note that after the Device Restore this line disappeared. My home ISY still has some AA's showing even after the compare and Device Restore because they exist in both the device and ISY tables. Edit: I should also add that the address, in the attachment, associated with that AA (as well as the first and fourth items with the A2 pair) line is not one that I recognize! I have no devices with the 48.EA.C6 address!
  3. Thanks for the link... Although the document is somewhat above my level of comprehension, the part you are referring me to talks about RF messaging whereas the AA I am looking at is a link table parameter! On page 41 there is "RF messages begin with two sync bytes consisting of AAAA in hexadecimal, followed by a start code byte of C3 in hexadecimal"... I'm wondering if this AA sequence in quite different than the one I am asking about... It seems to me that the pair in the table should be defining the nature of the linked device - e.g. controller or responder... By the way, I also couldn't find in the white paper any reference to the other pairs in the wiki. E2 = controller A2 = responder 22 = deleted 02 = deleted 00 = EOF (End Of File) Interestingly, my cottage ISY has also been giving me problems and I am up at the cottage this weekend to try to figure things out. I finally switched over to a new PLM today, because I was continue to have issues. After doing so, I found a lot of devices with an AA pair in the link tables but in each case the restore device removed the line. in the end, on this ISY, I have no devices with an AA reference in the tables, whereas on my home ISY I still have numerous AA lines in the tables!
  4. Thanks for the reply... 1 - I am guessing that perhaps my PLM (v2.1) is starting to fail... it passed the 2 year mark in May of 2017. So I bought a new PLM and followed the correct procedure to install it. 2 - I'm surprised that there isn't a way to check the overall system with one command! I have about 40 devices and each one takes about a minute to right-click Diagnotics--> Show Device Links Table --> Compare, then if there is an error Restore Device, then to confirm Diagnotics--> Show Device Links Table --> Compare again! I had one device that required being Restored twice! That's a long time to 4 - No one has commented on the AA category! I'm still curious as to what this means. Interestingly, almost all of the errors, after installing the new PLM, were on the devices that had the AA pair. I believe, because I didn't notice this at first, that any device that had two links with the AA pairs would yield an error on one of those links. In each case, after a restore, one of the AA links was deleted!! After changing the PLM, I ran the Diagnostic - PLM Links Table and the count was 159. Then I tried the ISY PLM Link Calculator and the number came to 311!! Should I be worried? If so, how do I go about troubleshooting this?
  5. Recently, I have been encountering some issues with my ISY (all Insteon devices running on v.5.0.10) and so I started looking for cause(s)... One of the steps I took was to look at the Link Tables... I found numerous errors on devices when I did "Show Device Links Table and the Compare"! In each case, I did a "Restore Device" which seemed to work since the 'Compare' then showed that everything in Device Links Table was identical to the ISY Links Table. This exercise raises a few questions: 1 - What causes these tables to be wrong? 2 - Is there an easier way than going through the process one device at a time? 3 - Am I correct that when I find errors like this that I should be doing a "Restore Device"? 4 - I ready the Wiki on the description of the fields but I am still confused by what I'm seeing... the Wiki has this Next pair: E2 = controller A2 = responder 22 = deleted 02 = deleted 00 = EOF (End Of File) However, I am also seeing AA's! Is this related to the v.5 series and the Wiki is not updated? What does this pair mean? The PLM's address represents the great majority of the linked addresses shown ... the exceptions I see are when I have a 3-way switch setup I see the address of the other switch as well as many of the PLM. Is this normal for an Insteon network? In those instances where I see the AA pair it is either associated with the address of the PLM or another address that I cannot find on my system! (note that both the Device Links Table and the ISY Links Table show the AA with that mysterious address!) 5 - Why is it that some devices show 4 lines in the Links Table whereas others show 8 or even more? I would appreciate some help in understanding this ...
  6. I do not know how you determined that my updates are " only about every four and a half minutes"!! The entire sequence I presented happened in 27 seconds! I am confused by your comment... I will leave the technical understanding, of whether or not the ISY is being polled, to those in the know... however I used the term 'polling' because, as I see it, the ISY on it's own does not churn out that many events for my thermostat. It only happens when the "Live Update" linkage between the Portal and the Echo are enabled!
  7. The stat works fine! The problem only arises when it's being polled continuously by the Echo through the Portal with Live Update enabled! I did not have this issue with V2 of the ISY skill. The stat is a Venstar 2491T The stat is connected to the furnace and is not on an adapter. Normally, my stat only has event instances when things change... My conclusion is that it's not the stat but it is something that is happening with the ISY Skill v3 and the Live Update Benoit... looking at my events a lot of times nothing appears to change and yet it keeps resending the same data over and over!!
  8. Ok... I finally got back to this. I had not disabled the thermostat in the Admin Console on the ISY and yet the continuous polling had stopped, so the thermostat was not the issue. Tonight, first in the Portal, I turned off the "Live Update" and then did an "Add" to put the Thermostat back in as a Device. This caused no polling issues on the ISY. Next, I opened up the alexa.amazon.com app, on my PC, and did a "Discover". This found the thermostat and listed it in the Devices list. Still no polling issues on the ISY. Next, I went back to the Portal and enabled "Live Update"... almost immediately the continuous polling on the ISY started again!! Here is an excerpt of my event viewer for 27 seconds before I turned off the "Live Update" Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:30 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] CLIHCS 0 (uom=66 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:30 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] ST 48 (uom=101 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:30 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] CLIMD 1 (uom=98 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:31 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] UOM 1 Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:31 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] CLISPH 48 (uom=101 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:32 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] CLIHUM 39 (uom=22 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:34 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] CLIHCS 0 (uom=66 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:35 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] ST 48 (uom=101 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:35 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] CLIMD 1 (uom=98 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:36 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] UOM 1 Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:36 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] CLISPH 48 (uom=101 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:37 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] CLIHUM 38 (uom=22 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:38 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] CLIHCS 0 (uom=66 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:39 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] ST 48 (uom=101 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:39 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] CLIMD 1 (uom=98 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:40 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] UOM 1 Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:40 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] CLISPH 48 (uom=101 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:41 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] CLIHUM 39 (uom=22 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:42 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] CLIHCS 0 (uom=66 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:43 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] ST 48 (uom=101 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:43 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] CLIMD 1 (uom=98 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:44 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] UOM 1 Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:44 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] CLISPH 48 (uom=101 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:45 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] CLIHUM 38 (uom=22 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:45 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] CLIHCS 0 (uom=66 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:55 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] ST 48 (uom=101 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:55 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] CLIMD 1 (uom=98 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:56 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] UOM 1 Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:56 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] CLISPH 48 (uom=101 prec=0) Wed 12/06/2017 11:24:57 PM : [ 14 85 54 1] CLIHUM 39 (uom=22 prec=0) For the time being, I think I will have to delete the thermostat from my Echo devices as it is completely bogging down my system!
  9. I haven't had a chance to try setting it up again step by step... hopefully later tonight and I will provide feedback from my findings....
  10. Ok Thanks... I didn't know that
  11. I am trying to link a Range Extender (2992-222) to my ISY to use as a phase coupler and when I try to link the device I get the message "Unsupported Device:0.29"! Isn't this device supposed to be supported? I'm on v5.0.10
  12. After my 'Final Post" last night I headed off to bed and hit my keypad to turn off all the outside lights... however a bunch of lights continued to show (on the keypad) that they were still On! Puzzled I looked at Mobilinc and saw that numerous lights indicated that they were still On! I looked out the window and saw however that they were in fact Off!! Confused, I dragged myself back to my computer and opened up the ISY's Admin Console and sure enough all those lights were still showing that they were On, yet I knew they weren't'!! As I sat there trying to figure this out, I noticed that the little flag (bottom left corner of the Admin Console) was flashing 'Busy'! So I opened the Event Viewer and saw that my thermostat (Venstar 2491T) was the culprit! Something appeared to be polling the stat continuously! Knowing that only thing I changed recently was the ISY V3 Skills for the Echo, I opened up the Portal, disabled 'Live Update' then deleted the stat from my Echo device list. Then I re-enabled 'Live Update'. I then went to the amazon app and did a "Forget" for the stat. The polling on the ISY stopped almost immediately and the 'Busy' flag went back to green and 'Ready'. Then I went to bed. Any thoughts on why the stat was being polled continuously?
  13. I have not looked into 'Groups' so far and cannot claim to have any deep understanding of what they do... having said that, what is the difference between creating a Smart Home group on the mobile app or creating a Smart Home group on my PC on the amazon app?
  14. Final post on this tonight... my 1st gen Echo back on the amazon.com (U.S.) site, with my Canadian address is back to working properly. I also have access to the new Canadian skills (Globe and Mail, CBC, National Post, Canadian Press Hourly News Updates...etc). So, as long as this continues to work I'm okay with not having the English (Canada) language!!
  15. Ok I read and tried what you guys wrote and each time I had the same results as before! It didn't matter in which order (I tried them all!)! So I did another "Forget All" and deleted V2 and V3. Then I went into the Portal and first, turned off Live Update, then secondly I went into the Portal "My Profile" and selected 'Unlink Amazon account' and 'Save'. Then I returned to the alexa.amazon.com app (on my PC) and enabled the v3 skill and went through the authorization to link the account with the Portal. Finally, I did "Rediscover" and I now seem to have the right things in the right order with no duplicates. On my phone, everything looks right... the Device tab only shows actual devices each with light bulb icons and the scenes and programs are showing in the Scenes tab. Not sure about the usefulness of this app though because the Office Light still shows as Off when it really is On and the screen still has the warning "There was a problem"... and as I stated, in my earlier post, Mobilinc is a better tool to see the status of my lights. If the key purpose is to modify the set up for Alexa (new skills...etc) then I will stick to the browser on my PC! Am I missing something about this app?
  16. I tried to read through all of the posts in this thread... but I'm sure I am missing something! I am having issues but I am trying to determine if this is what I should expect... Here is what I did: On my PC, I went on to the Alexa.Amazon.com and logged into my account; I disabled the ISY v2 skill ; I then went into Smart Home/Devices and clicked on "Forget All". Then when I checked all Devices/Programs/Scenes were no longer showing. Interestingly, when I clicked on Discover, even though the ISY skill was disabled, it reloaded all of my Devices/Programs/Scenes! Is this because my Portal Profile has the Amazon account linked? Should I change the Profile to 'Unlink Amazon account' and let the linkage only happen when I enable the ISY v3 skill? Next, I enabled the ISY V3 skill which opened up the screen to authorize the linkage to my Portal account; after 'Submit" and closing the browser page, I was asked to 'Discover Devices'. Then all of my Devices/Programs/Scenes were found and all show up as Devices, but only the Programs/Scenes show up as scenes. However, I also see that each of the Devices discovered show 2 entries on the Amazon site on my PC! Example... Office Light is a dimmer light switch with one Spoken "office light"; when I look at the list of Devices I am seeing 2 entries - first, Office Light, ISY Dimmable device address 1A 58 5F 1, and a second one, office light, Office Light. This is repeated for each device I have set up in the Portal. It does not happen for scenes, programs or my thermostat. Is this what is expected? One of my points of confusion relates to everything being in the 'Devices'! I think Benoit in one post said that they would all be there... Not sure I understand the logic in this! My next issue is the Amazon app (iPhone)... in the Portal I clicked on the "Live Update" button. and then logged into the app on my iPhone. When I open up the Smarthome section in the app, I see all of the same things in the Devices section as on my PC. However, my Office Light (from example above) is showing one instance as a device (with the light bulb) and the other with the icon of a little house with the wifi symbol inside (is this the icon for a scene?). The 2 instances only show in the Devices section of the app! When I click on the Office Light device (the one with the light bulb icon) it opens up and has a message "There was a problem" and shows the light as off, whereas it is on! When I click on the icon in the middle of that screen it first shows "Waiting for UDI" and then shows "Device was unresponsive". If I click on it a few times it finally recognizes and shows that the light is ON but shows the percentage as 0% whereas it's at 100%! If I move the slider at the bottom it does brighten or dim the light and then shows the correct level of brightness. Despite this the screen still shows "There was a problem". Is this the same experience others are having? I'm not sure that I am seeing a lot of value in using this app on my phone... Mobilinc does a better job of showing me the status of my lights!
  17. I just received this email from Amazon.ca: Dear customer, Alexa is now available in Canada. Alexa provides a set of skills and features specifically for Canada, including Air Canada, BMO, TD, Telus, Sportsnet, theScore, CBC, The Weather Network, and Yellow Pages. Some skills and features available in other countries, including Amazon Music Unlimited, Audible, iHeartRadio, Pandora, Sirius XM, Uber, Jeopardy, IFTTT, and Recipes, are not available in Canada. In addition, Canadian English and Canadian skills are not supported for Amazon Echo (1st Gen), Echo Dot (1st Gen), Echo Show, or Amazon Tap. You can change your country settings on supported devices to switch your device to the Canadian Alexa experience. Customers who chose to change the device country settings on their Alexa-enabled devices to Canada may not be able to access content from unavailable services based in other countries. Customers switching countries may lose access to content purchased from other countries on other devices. If your country settings are already set to Canada, you can enjoy the Canadian Alexa Experience without changing your settings. To find out more about changing your country settings on supported devices, visit the following help page: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=202205900 Note that changing your device country settings will not change your Amazon Music account’s country setting. If you want to do so, you will need to contact Customer Service. Sincerely, Amazon Alexa team Interesting... Well since I have the Echo 1st Gen this explains why I could not get the English (Canada) to work!
  18. Further to my posts above, today being December 5th the day Alexa comes to Canada (officially) I decided to log into my account and see if the English (Canada) was now an option... Nope! So I decided to try what Amazon.ca support suggested.... I went into the app on my PC and changed the address to a US address (my sister's in Oklahoma). After this change the system took me from alexa.amazon.ca to alexa.amazon.com!! Then I went back in and changed the address back to my correct Canadian address. I am now back to where I was last week!! I now have access to the skills section once again and my weather is the local weather. It probably means that I don't have access to the new Canadian skills... I haven't looked at this yet! I wonder if they simply went through their records and changed anyone who had a Canadian address to amazon.ca, from amazon.com as a one time change per account! Otherwise why was I able to go back to where I was using amazon.com but putting in a Canadian address!!
  19. I'm just glad that I don't use Alexa for anything more than making it easier to open blinds or turn lights on (and, of course, my coffee machine!!). Now I have to go back to the old fashioned way...using a switch!! Update: While I was struggling with Alexa and the inability to get at the skills section, I realized that my ISY Portal was no longer 'online'. So I went through a bunch of things to get the portal up and running again (rebooted my router and then the ISY). Now that the ISY Portal is back Online, I tried asking Alexa to do a few things and 'Voila!' she did them!! So Alexa is once again doing my bidding! However, I still cannot get into the skills section due to the language thing! Once again hopefully the English (Canada) will be available later this week.
  20. The default has been English (United States) and it still doesn't work!! Here is the reply I received from Amazon.ca... really helpful!! I guess I will have to wait a few days to see if the Canadian version is in fact available. Hopefully, at that time, they will provide the English (Canada) language which will then allow me to access the skills! Reading the Amazon.ca reply does cause me concern because they make no mention of the December 5th date! Hopefully they know about this!! Talk about a nice transition plan! 'Let's force the early adopters over to the Canadian portal, but not provide them with tools that actually work at the time of this transition'!!
  21. I just tried with the IOS app and I am having the same problem!
  22. I would if I could! However, I cannot get into the skills section at all!!
  23. I have been using the Echo for some time now with my Canadian address and getting local weather...etc. However, this morning when I asked Alexa to turn on a light she told me that the light "isn't responding"! So I tried opening my Amazon account and found that I was forwarded from alexa.amazon.com to alexa.amazon.ca! Then it wouldn't accept my password, so I had to go through the 'forgot password' routine. After resetting the password I was able to get in (on the .ca site) but when I tried to view the skills I got the same message as Larry posted some time ago "I get a warning that my language does not match my account. Click continue to correct it to English (Canada)" When I click on 'Continue' I end up on the 'Settings' screen. When I try to to change the language I am only given 3 choices: - English (United States) - English (United Kingdom) - Deutsch I am not seeing the English (Canada)! Any thoughts on how to proceed? Do I have to completely delete the account and start all over? I just sent an email to support asking them a similar question...
  24. You have assumed that the OP has an old 99i whereas he referred to it as an 94i! I'm guessing that he meant a 994i. If my guess is correct, I would suggest Mobilinc which works well with IOS and allows control on the LAN as well as outside the LAN.
  25. I set it up on my PC and not an iPhone app.
