Anybody?

Yes, that is what I want to accomplish...I want the remainder of the lights (all part of the scene that is controlled by button "D") to remain at their scene-dimmed levels. The "main" KPL button light is also on, but the kitchen lights are only 45%. When the wife walks into the kitchen, she will press "main" again (already lit on KPL), and the kitchen lights should go to 100%. When she's done in the kitchen, she will press "main" again and the kitchen lights will dim back to 45% (and I don't want any of the other lights to change with anything the wife does). I still haven't had a chance to try this since I had to work an extra shift in the same day...I'm gonna look to do this tomorrow night and report back on how things work...but the question I have is for the variables, do I have to set up any variables under the "variables" tab and if so, how do I do that? Thanks

Thanks for the detailed response...I will try this tonight and report back. I have a similar situation with the hallway lights, so if I can get this to work this would be great.. the undesirable off, then on situation is definitely "undesirable," I almost thought there wouldn't be a solution for that.

Sorry, this is kinda confusing, but here is a breakdown of what the situation is: The "main" button controls the kitchen lights The "D" button controls a scene that not only turns on/off the kitchen lights, but also several other lights in the adjoining living room. When someone presses "D", the kitchen lights turn on only to 45%. Other lights also turn on only to 45%. If we want to turn on the kitchen lights to 100% (and not turn on the other lights), we simply use the "main" button. When the scene linked to "D" is on, the "main" button is also on (even though that particular scene sets the kitchen lights to 45% only, the keypad lights for D and Main are on). If someone wants to come into the kitchen while scene "D" (dimmed multiple lights) is already on, they press the "main" button which is also already "on" but only at 45%. When they press that "main" button, I want the kitchen lights not to turn off (which is what they would naturally do since "main" is already on but the lights in there are only 45%), but instead I want them to go to 100% brightness and the "main" button stays lit. If they are done in the kitchen and are ready to come back and watch TV, they will hit "main" again, which will still stay lit, but the lights will revert back to 45% since the remainder of the scene is on. How can I achieve this?

I have an 8-button KPL in the kitchen. The "Main on/off" button controls the kitchen lights. I have a scene on that same KPL on button "D" which controls other lights, along with the kitchen lights. When activated, this scene will dim several lights, including the kitchen lights to 45%, while we watch TV in the adjoining room. When my wife wants to enter the kitchen, she wants the kitchen lights to be on full brightness. When she's done in the kitchen and we're still watching TV, she wants to have the lights dim back to 45% (for example, KPL "D" is still ON and that dimmed-lights scene is still active). We want to be able to do all of this simply by using the Main On/OFF button which controls the kitchen lights anyway. I used to have a regular SwitchLinc controlling the kitchen lights (with another keypad to activate that "dimmed" scene for TV watching), and this used to work out perfectly. Now that the 8-button KPL restricts ONE button (as opposed to separate on/off buttons) for control of the overhead lights, I cannot do what I want to do. Any ideas of how you would solve this problem? I've tried writing a series of programs to have this work, but I cannot succeed. Shoudl I be considering variables, and if so, how do I do this? Thanks

All four are venstar (built in insteon). Many times, the temperatures are WAY off too, like "cool" to 12 degrees etc

I made a scene called "Away" that could be activated by a keypad button near the exit doorway to our home. Whenever the scene is activated from that keypad button, it will send pre-set temperature ranges to all the thermostats in the house (4 of them) to save energy. When the scene is activated, it is incorrectly sending random temperatures to the thermostats. Any ideas why this is happening? Should I be trying to do this some other way (like using programs or even variables?) Thanks

I took the advice of another member on the forum to help set up my hot water recirculator pump using a looping program. However, I've found that the pump never seems to turn off outside of the hours I've set. Can anyone figure out what I'm doing wrong? Programs are below: I use this following program for a few light switches I have in various bathrooms that when they are turned on, the pump turns on manually for a set amount of time, otherwise the pump is turned off (this is only for if the switches are turned on outside of the above times).

The dual band devices were replaced in other locations. I did the 4 quick set button taps and saw many of my dual band only devices flashing. It is the same as it was prior to switching some devices. I'm suspecting a link issue. When replacing devices, each one was removed from isy then relinked using option 1 (remove all links). The kpl that is acting funny with a particular scene was never touched (nor were any of the lights the scene controls), but when I compared links between device and isy there were 3 mismatches. I tried device restore but I still have mismatches (and fewer total links listed).

So a few weeks ago I posted about a few devices that started acting cookey on my otherwise previously stable network. This problem has gotten worse with many more devices not responding, scenes not working properly or programs not executing devices. The problems all seemed to have started when I purchased a few new switches for my network. I replaced 1 or 2 switches with different insteon switches (for example, takin out a dualband switchlinc in place of a new non dual band kpl and putting the dualband switchlinc onto another non insteon switch, effectively making the network larger). I have upwards of 40 devices, 16 of the currently being dualband. I've almost never had any unreliability before adding these new recent switches. I tried some of the suggested tests like scene test. In particular I have a scene with a few outside lights turned on by a kpl button. Now what happens is if I press that kpl button to start the scene, the lights turn on and then immediately turn off. Also, I have lights that simply do not turn on random nights but other nights do turn on. I even had a device delete itself from one of my scenes without me knowing it. I relocated my plm and isy to another outlet more centrally but no difference. Any ideas of what's goin on and how to fix this?

I have two garage doors, both hooked up exactly the same way with the I/OLInc and garage door kit. IT has been a while, but I'm pretty sure I remember wiring both using the red and black wires (not black and green wires) from the sensor. I just noticed today that for one of my garagedoors, when it is closed, the relay (and sensor) status are off. When open, both are on. However, for my other garage door, the relay is ON and sensor is OFF when the door is closed. Why the discrepancy and how do I fix it? Thanks

There are 2 programs controlling 3 sets of landscape lights. Each set is controlled by a wire-in dual-band in-line linc on/off controller. One of the two programs issues the same commands to two of the different dual band devices (each connected to a low voltage transformer, connected to a bank of lights). The second program controls the other dual band inlinelinc to the front yard transformer and its lights. I have several dualband devices in the house (probably 40% of my devices are dual band). I have about 40 insteon devices (various switches, modules, in-line lincs, etc). I have I believe four phases (two separate circuit breaker panels). All phases have a dual band device on it. Which brings me to another question...how reliable are these dual band wired-in switches etc? I ask because I have a dual-band wired-in device in my garage. My remote linc a few feet away does not respond at all. I had to purchase a separate access point to place nearby the remotelinc which is still flaky). Not many other RF devices running to conflict except WiFi-dual band.

So tonight, the funny behavior with various insteon-controlled devices around the house continue to act funny. I have landscape lights in the front and in the back, controlled by separate insteon devices but all set to turn on and off at exactly the same time. It has worked flawlessly for over a year now until lately when I've begun adding and re-arranging some of my insteon devices. So today, the backyard landscape lights turned off on schedule but the front ones remain on. This has never happened before until today. The last run time does show the proper time the lights SHOULD have turned off. Since these lights are not on a scene, I cannot run the scene test command. Am I looking at potentially bad links?

can i do a global restoration without screwing anything up or is it best to leave everything alone for now?

Thanks for the suggestions. I did notice a few days ago that a KPL in a guest room we barely use had lost some of its links as it was not updating status real-time in my ISY console. When I did "restore device" on the KPL, then it was working. I thought the ISY goes through on a regular basis to restore links and ensure things are all squared-away?

I have front and backyard landscape and coach lights set on a timer via a program that has since been failsafe and ran 99% of the time reliably. I've lately been updating and adding to my vast array of insteon devices. I've noticed twice now that my outside lights never turned on via the program. Is there any way for me to find out why? The programs are all enabled and were even listed as "True" in the summary screen, telling me the times they were to turn off under the "Next time to run" column. TIA

I have a KPL8 in the kitchen. Main controls the kitchen overhead lights. I have a scene on that same KPL-D to make the kitchen overhead lights dim to 35% when "KPL-D" is on. I want to have it where if the lights are on at 35% and if "Main" is pressed, the kitchen overhead lights turn on full blast. If the "MAIN" button is pressed again, the lights will return to 35%. Instead what's happening is if the lights are dim to 35% and "main" is pressed, the lights shut off, and then turn on full blast. (However, when they are full blast and then "main" is pressed, the lights dim to 35% which is only half of the behavior I desire). The half of the program that does not work is below: There is another program that [successfully] controls the return to 35% dim level from 100%. I used to have a different KPL controlling the dimmed scene while the kitchen overhead lights had a regular SwitchLinc. Since there are distinct ON/OFF paddle selections, the programming for that worked perfectly with regard to what I want to accomplish. Please assist and TIA.

what are your "router issues." Maybe you don't require a new router if there is a solution

I use a morninglinc to open the door to the guesthouse. Had this set up properly before they sent me a new morninglinc which i just set up today again. When the keypadlinc button is engaged (and scene is ON), the door does not unlock, it only locks and then stays locked. The new ISY firmware and/or morninglinc version I received has a choice in the scene for the keypadlinc button to choose unlock or lock each for the on/off nodes. I want it so that when the scene is ON (and the LED on the KPL is ON), then the morninglinc unlocks, and vice versa. Thanks

Has anyone tackled using the ISY with IR (or IRLinc) and a Logitech (or similar remote) for home theater lighting scenes? Tried setting this up with my Logitech harmony, but the software requires downloading all setting changes to the remote before you can test things out...making the process delayed and cumbersome. I found this video on youtube which is exactly what I want to accomplish (minus the Siri stuff). Anyone know of a writeup they can point me to? I think one of my bigger problems is setting up the delays on the remote since I already have the codes for my IRlinc downloaded into the remote, but they do not work when initiating macros. I have a "MovieTime" button which is supposed to fire up the whole system in DVD mode AND mess with the lights but the lights part is not working. Thanks.

You're right...my parents once found an African Gray parrot in their garage in Florida (neighbors pet which flew in somehow). Does your garage have vents? Mine has vents near the bottom and the top...I suppose that would be a great place to start since its already water-proofed i'm sure...finding a fan to fit in there would be the next task. Unfortunately, considering the size of the garage, I don't know if that vent opening is adequate enough.

Isn't there a "wait" command that can be added to the "Then" section, such as "WAIT 4 MINS", followed by another line under THEN telling the scene to turn off?
-
Thanks for the reply...I didn't realize I could just drag each thermostat into the scene to set the parameters which is what I ended up doing and it works fine.
-
You could consider creating a program where a lamp or something is set off by insteon as a warning prior to programming your insteon garage door to close after remaining open for 30 or so mins to vent out the garage. This would move much more air than a fan. The fan could introduce leaks into your wall if not installed properly, or even bugs/critters (granted, leaving the garage door would do the same thing regarding critters but its not perfect, I know!). So essentially, after sunset your garage door would open automatically for 30 mins and then either set off a light reminding you to close it or set the light off anyway prior to it closing so you can monitor the close. Just a thought.

I have a morninglinc rev 1.0 that was working fine with my ISY and lock until something happened recently and it just stopped responding. Did a factory reset and the device just seems to be shot. They sent me a new morninglic rev 1.2 today. Tried to link it to the ISY and everytime I try this, it comes back saying it cannot communicate with the ISY. It does show the on/off address in my list of devices. After linking the module to the lock and confirming that it locks/unlocks with the set button, i tried sending on and off commands to it from the isy console and it actually works! but, everytime i restart the console, it comes up as a device the isy cannot communicate with. It also screwed up my "replace device with" as I wanted it to replace the old shot morninglinc. I no longer see the old morninglinc as an option to replace, and when restarted, the console still shows the address and not the old device name. Any changes to the rev1.2 that is preventing this from working?
