  1. The cable that comes with the ISY: +/- 4 feet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Thanks to all for your helpful comments. The new 110v line is direct to the panel, perhaps, through a split breaker (2 in one slot). Yes, I have dragged more than one in the past and I did notice that the ISY added things serially. However, in this instance, the ISY got stuck in a loop. It may have been that the ISY was losing connectivity while the scene was being created. Dunno, as they say... My plan is to delete the three switches that loaded properly and then became unavailable while creating a scene. I'll reset them at the switches locally. Before I go further, I'll reconnect the PLM to the new outlet and reconnect the ISY to the UPS. I will move the ISY away from the PLM. Then I try to get them going again. After that, I'll have to deal with the one switch that appears to be near some sort of noise. Any additional suggestions? Thanks again.
  3. Thanks for the advice. One thing that I didn't mention, three of the four switches that are now causing a problem installed perfectly. I then tried to place them into a program by dragging all three at one time instead of one at a time Could that have caused any issues? Could I have corrupted something in the switches? Perhaps, I should factory reset and reinstall them again? Anyway, we'll have to try the circuit breaker off method. I did suspect noise was an issue for the X10's, too. BTW, we have installed couplers on every one of the five panels in the house. I'll try the 4 tap beacon test (once I look up how to do it), but I thought that the couplers would obviate the need for that. Do you think that the extension cord versus hard wired is irrelevant? When we used the hard wired, non extension cord, connection, the PLM and ISY were within a few inches of each other and things seemed to be a bit worse. Merely a coincidence?
  4. Only the ISY is on the UPS. The PLM is connected directly to the panel on a dedicated line.
  5. I am not sure that this is the correct forum, but, here goes... I did an installation at my nephew's home and had to relocate the ISY/PLM to several locations before we were able to have good coverage. There are several main panels, so we installed couplers on each one. The final location for the ISY/PLM combination ended up in the basement adjacent to four or five other dual band switches, and within 25 feet of others on the main floor above. We temporarily connected the 110V to the PLM via a 25' long heavy duty extension cord and were able to control most of the house-no UPS here. Direct to the panel... We connected the ISY to a 110v line that has a UPS on it. Oh, part of the house is controlled by a standby generator. The PLM is not connected to that panel. But, that panel also has a coupler on it. We then added some new switches and they came up immediately. I tried to place them into a program, and then a few of them stopped responding. Also, we have a few switches that come and go, but everything else seems to be fine. Periodically, I recover the switches, and they then don't respond again. When they don't respond, the switches light up temporarily with a blinking red light. That is problem #1. Problem #2: Since all generally went well, we had the electrician install a dedicated outlet in the basement where we had temporarily placed the ISY/PLM combination. At that point, several switches started becoming unavailable again. We reinstalled the extension cord for the PLM and I was able to connect again with those switches. That was last night. At 3am, the polling showed that 3 of the 4 again were disconnected. I have no idea why this is happening. It is a large home, and I did notice a delay in some switches responding, but, they did respond. Could the extension cord be acting as an antenna? Why would that be any different than the Romex? Could the PLM be bad? It seems to check out. Finally, the house did have X10's. We removed all of them. They were old and intermittent.
  6. I don't know if this will help, but, in a home that I just sold, I had about ten small low voltage LED's under the kitchen cabinets and they hummed and flickered a bit. They were controlled by a non-dimming Insteon wall switch that controlled the transformer. I replaced one of the LED's with an incandescent bulb and that solved the problem. In my current apartment, I have many LED lamps controlled by dimmable plug in modules. If I employ a slow ramp rate, the LED's will flicker and do other strange things. If I change the ramp rate to near zero, there is no flicker. However, I need to be careful not to dim the LED's beyond 40%-50%. The LED's are Philips, and I'm told by SH that this brand is trouble.
  7. Thanks. Can I make the change through the ISY, or must it be done at the switch itself?
  8. I have been reading this thread and have the following (somewhat different) question: Can the ON/OFF (top and bottom) buttons be programmed to operate as the A-D buttons assuming no load is connected to the KPL? In other words, can I use the top button as an on and off for one scene and the bottom button as an on and off for another scene? Let's assume that both would be .1 on/off without any dimming.
  9. Teken, Bingo!!!! I moved the RemoteLinc 2440 about 30 feet or so from the ISY/PLM. And, it worked!!!!! Thanks. Harold
  10. I received and installed the new ISY and PLM. Everything is working according to specifications. Well, sort of... My older ISY994i seemed to have to no problem connecting with RemoteLincs (2440). I assume that that had to do with the fact that it was a prior software release. The new ISY994i is absolutely not interested in talking to any of RemoteLincs that worked well in the other location. The software reports the usual unable to communicate and the inability to determine the Insteon engine. I have read the threads on this connection problem. I have tried all the suggestions. Still, the ISY is not interested in the hook-up. I really like these older remotes. They permit labelling and are easy to handle. Anyone have any ideas?
  11. Thanks to all. Just ordered an ISY994i ZW/IR Pro Z-Wave, a power supply and a 2413S PLM... Oh, well!
  12. Thank you. I've waited about one year to do a new installation at another home. I think that it is time to bite the bullet and go with the latest PLM.
  13. So, I have been reading the various threads on the combination and I do not really have an answer yet to the availability. ETA anyone? Thanks.
  14. Any progress on the UDI PLM issue?
  15. Thanks.
  16. And available to us by ???? No pressure here, just looking forward to it. Thanks.
  17. Any update on the availability? Thanks.
  18. I just went to contract on the house. I will speak with the buyer soon and determine if the high tech aspect of the house meant anything to him and his wife. He is 50 and she is 45. Stay tuned.
  19. I totally agree. It would cost me much too much in time and money to remove the switches. In reference to the ISY, the cost is not that high. So, I'll leave it. Also, if I removed it, the new owners would not have proper evening lighting and would not receive house issue/problem email notifications. Further, in my case, the new owners are young and might have an interest in playing with the programming. If not, I am giving them the name of a competent consultant.
  20. Actually, I am now selling my "country" home and the buyer seems very much interested in the "high tech" aspect of the home. My broker indicated that the system seemed to have added value. So, I am leaving the ISY and will buy another one for my city digs. In any case, I will give them the name of a Universal Devices expert to keep the system running. I do not intend to babysit.
  21. Thanks again. BTW, do you know anyone in the Southampton, LI area that consults? Would you do that remotely?
  22. Thank you. Will the address change to the new URL in the "My URL" once we start using the new domain?
  23. I am setting up a new https//:...dyndns... URL. In the ISY, how do I change from the old "My URL" to the new one?
  24. That's easy. Thanks.
  25. How does one do that without losing any of the programs, etc.
