Alternatives to the Elk M1 security system
Hah, it's a Raspberry Pi (I have that exact case from ModMyPi.com). Definitely not UL© listed hardware. Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk

Have ISY notify me when lock battery is getting low?
Also per your program, every time it changes, it will notify you (at 29%, 28%, 27%, ...) Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk

The ISY is event-based. It only does something when an event takes place (ie. something changes) Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk

What is the subscription fees for the isy portal?
I took a look at it today, and while it looks very interesting, it seems to be too hobbyist-level for me. I'm looking for a product I can add functionality onto, not one where I have to write most of it myself. Also looks a little underpowered compared to the RPI in Mycroft, and runs a lightweight OS stack (OpenWRT) vs the relatively full stack on Mycroft. Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk

You're not really paying for software in the case of the portal. The ISY is functional without it. You're paying for the portal service, to be able to interface with other services you would otherwise be able to (or at least not economically). Yeah it sucks, but only you can decide if the cost is worth the value it provides to you given the features it makes available. My personal preference is to self-host as much as I can, and try to stay away from products with cloud dependencies, but certain sectors are just really difficult to do well without the horse power of tons of servers and the massive data sets that thousands of users provide (ie. natural voice recognition). I for one am staying away from Echo. I will probably check out Mycroft when it comes out. While it still depends on cloud services, at least the device code is open source and I trust their intentions a little more than Amazon. Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk

I'm currently eating my way through two boxes of Star Wars cereal (which is not bad but not great) after having ate my way through two boxes of Superman cereal (which is actually pretty good) and two boxes of Batman cereal (which is atrocious) Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk

LED Tea Candle Lights
At least some of them do. My mother in law has some at her cottage, and every time I turn on the TV, they turn on as well Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk

LED Tea Candle Lights
But you could probably use a Logitech Harmony Hub or a Global Cache IR box to turn them on/off. Although that would be a pretty pricey solution if you didn't already own one of those. Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk

Keyfob for insteon? Will Elk keyfob work?

Keyfob for insteon? Will Elk keyfob work?
He doesn't have an Elk yet either so getting the Elk module for ISY won't do him much good... Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk

Will wireless security system interfere with ISY?
Have you given any thought to what you'd like to do with the Elk components you're taking out? I'd be interested in buying the M1XFR2H (Honeywell wireless module) and M1KP2 (Keypad) if they're installed... Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk

ISY994i ZW PRO Power from PLM
Can any from UDI officially confirm this (and that it is supported). Being able to power my ISY from a 12V source would be pretty awesome. Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk

New Home Build - Existing ISY/Insteon devices
People actually use push-ins? I know up here the vast majority use the screw terminals, including ground screw, where the ground wire comes from panel to ground screw in box, then ground screw on receptacle... Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk

Question about wiring a 3-way switch
Where does the load side go? Does the 3c from the bottom box go to the light fixture before hitting the upstairs switch? If so, you probably need some reconfiguration there as well Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk

New Home Build - Existing ISY/Insteon devices
I find box fill to be a serious issue with any insteon switches.. My favourite is the Ideal Can-Twist... They are one size fits all, have little wings so you can torque them good and tight and will take up to either 6 or 7 (can't remember off hand) 14 ga. conductors. Question about wiring a 3-way switch
Sorry let me ask a clarifying question. Does the 2-wire feed from the panel and 2-wire feed from the load enter the same box? Is there a separate 3-wire feed from the box upstairs? Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk
