  1. Just curious, what is the maximum epoch date the isy can handle with it's offset it uses? Is the epoch an unsigned int for absolutely sure in the code? If an epoch made it negative what would your routines think the year was?
  2. Not a common problem so I suspect some PC issues. Do you have a different one to install the latest admin console from and try? If the problem follows you, then we have to dig deeper. Uninstalling Java and running their total clean up routine, rebooting, reinstalling might be a wise step. Also I find sometimes different browsers can be an issue, which one are you using and it's version please. While you are at it do the help about and post the screen capture of that dialog too.
  3. The battery section i was reading figured about 2 months, since I would have to query the tag fairly often. Haven't decided which way to go, be nice to tag a few things I loose often and spend a lot of time looking for, but I wonder if the new bluetooth devices might be an option too. Some good things in this thread for sure.
  4. Now the final question, if you don't connect the tag manager to their service, or you prevent it from going outside your network to talk to their tag manager, does it still work to update on your local network? Or does it que up the messages like it said it would if the connection was lost and just sit and wait? For 2 cars this would be $100 or so, three four cards only adds about $20 buck and shipping each. what I was looking at with a power inverter and a micro module would run $70 a unit, but would be totally under ISY control. If I caught a true insteon sale I could do it for under $60. I imagine you could remove the battery from the tag, solder in a voltage limiter and connect the thing up to 12v. The tag might even live on a 5 volt usb charger wired to the 12v car. Attach it to the cig lighter connections and wire it up under the dash..
  5. There are some variable updates planned, I hope we see them yet this year, but UDI is busy with a lot of new features, and they are VERY stringent on testing everything to make sure they don't break what was working. I use the date routines that Apostolakisl wrote to running my sprinklers, sending reminders every other week for recyclables to be taken out.
  6. So, does the tag manager that is on your local network make the rest call, or does their server make the rest call? How do you handle the security e.g. rest password? I'm thinking I may go this route for the car detection and get a tag for my keys
  7. That might be a thought. A small inline inverter, a dual band micro-module with a tie into the run on the keys off the radio power or something right in that area of the fuse panel. Then a dual band or access point out in the garage. This would let you query it, would send a signal when the micro module was with sense function got 12v or didn't get 12v. hmm.. off to look up small inverter with a little fuse on it.. hmmm Alan
  8. I had thought about something that was interrupted with the car in the garage, but as you noted, it would detect people, pets, the table we put up to paint something out of the sun, the crates from holidays stored in the garage while we take 3 days to put them all away or up. That's why I was thinking a timer and some sort of tie in to get status of the car when it starts and stops. If you get an engine off notice then you KNOW the car is home, get an engine start and no heart beat in 5 minutes or whatever, then you KNOW it left. I suppose just tying in a triggerlinc to a timer and the car electrical system with a drop down regulator would be a nearly inexhaustable power source for the triggerlinc check in every 5 minutes or less. Wanted the car off signal though to know that it just arrived if it's outside of that window, which most times it would be. Thanks Alan
  9. Anyone using some sort of device to track if a car is home or not home? Especially that the car just got home, which can be tracked a bit with a garage door, but that is not 100%. I'm thinking something that would be tied into the ignition so when the car was started or turned off it would ping, or tied into the brake lights to ping whenever they go on or off, along with a heart beat type of function. I recall seeing a hack for an x-10 keypad using a timer circuit. But wondered if maybe there was a bluetooth or zigbee device out there now that could be incorporated somehow to speak with the ISY. Alan
  10. Lee nailed your question very well. I would add that I find it nice to have a slower fade on some lights vs other either with a long ramp rate, or in a program that will wait 30 seconds 60 seconds etc. Often we are not quite ready for the lights to go all the way off in all areas that adjust with the movie scene. We have stairs that are not a dimmer so go right on or off, I have those wait an extra amount of time because they give a bit of light to let people sit or run and grab something they forgot. I recently added, via Raspberry Pi, the perl module by Jeffrey, an Iguanaworks Ir transceiver the ability to turn the tv on, set the inputs on the receiver, adjust the input back after the tv changes it on its own when the movie kpl button is pressed. Turning off the kpl movie button turns off the tv and stereo. The capabilities get pretty huge with the isy. Alan
  11. So if you run an extension cord to an outlet that is on the same circuit as this troublesome kpl, does it work 100% or still miss something? Have you thought about swapping the KPL with another one just to rule out it might have an issue in and of itself? do the level 3 logs so the missed state change and we can determine that the ISY gets the switch comminications and it's the communication it SENDS to the kpl that gets lost?
  12. I will check it out, never played with the jumpers and barely noticed them when I put the single battery in there. Guess I will pull it down and check the jumper settings. So if they only ever receive on, what good are they, would the ISY react to a "control" on from them because status obviously not work.
  13. So I have 3.3.10 running on a 994i and installed a Triggerlinc v.40 tonight. It adds two nodes, and they both so ON all the time. When I added the Triggerlinc I saw on and off with the reed switch coming in range and out of range on the logs. Physically watching the Triggerlinc, the led lights when the reed comes in and out of range. I expect that each node would go off or on opposite of the other. So how can open and closed be on at the same time? Alan

    Socket Errors

Nab a screenshoot of the wifi connection details where is specifies strength of the signal in db's etc. Normally you have to open the hardware vendors own management utility to get that. I suspect that your signal is weak. A screen print of a ping -n 10 your.isy.address may some some timeouts. Another possibility is flaky DNS Alan
  15. There was a killer deal for the trend net ones yesterday on slickdeals, but while I was looking for some other stuff to buy WITH it, they sold out. Would have been a great way to get wired internet out in the shop. I put a pvc pipe out when I built it with intention to run a physical line, but with 5 hubs/switches in the house, I am thinking adding a 6th is pretty silly! Alan
  16. I had the same issue, and due to another post, took a look at my error log and found my dns was tossing errors to the ISY a LOT. Changed the dns from my router to google at 8.8.8.8 and the notifications came through again. Alan
  17. as long as they are on the same subnet and can communicate with each other it won't matter the physical or wifi connection between them. If they are not on the same subnet, then perhaps a static route in the routers would solve the issue of the two talking to each other. Wifi may work great for you, but in my house, it's a constant battle to get strong signal and keep it 100% of the time. Slowly deploying Ubiqity nodes around my house and outbuildings to bring a whole mesh network up so I can have wifi over the whole property (it's not that big, but steel siding and alum siding do a great job of blocking wifi strength)
  18. And I would run the wire myself. Wifi is just not reliable, certainly WAY less reliable than the ISY itself. You might get away with IP or 120v bridges to bring the network to the other building, but with the building have a different transformer, probably not. Alan
  19. Thanks Michel. Could someone elaborate on how one could tell if your device can support this specifically? E..g. does chrome on android support this vs the device supporting this. I assume mobilinc supports this method.
  20. I have wondered why you could not use certificates on the mobile device and have the ISY check it? Or a SSH type arrangement where you have to specifically allow rsa keys' to have them talk.
  21. Most curious on this, I was thinking that the ISY could not listen to other "networks". But maybe Michel means using the rest interface in the network module to send the rest command to the other ISY, that would work if the ISY can set it's own rest commands.
  22. Since their opensource, take a look at the code. It may be that because they are opensource they have a access model. For profit, like UDI, would have to pay. Just my WAG.
  23. Now won't that program retrigger if the IO linc changes states again. So if you split that program into one that calls the second program with no if, but only a then, you can get the first program to call the second program, wait 10 minutes and then send the sms. You probably need a query in there to check after the 10 minute timer? Or are you thinking that if the status didn't change and cause the re-evaluation, then obviously it is still on and go ahead and send the sms.. So many choices with the ISY.
  24. Technically Xathros is correct, but expand on what you mean by Hook up? what function are you wanting the ISY to accomplish with the recording device? BTW which axis cameras do you have? What do you think about the resolution, etc? Alan
  25. Fixed a bug I put in from bypassing an if on a defined variable. I was not checking to see if it it was an init type event which resulted in $val->text being undefined and croaking the eventlogger each night at midnight when the calendar programs updated themselves. I need to replace the custom gray keypad buttons back to white, because gray is too opaque and you cannot tell if they are on or off. Alan
