Using Geofency app to indicate whether Im home or not to send a post command to set a state variable (1 Home, 0 Away). Would like to have the alarm turned off when I arrive but not interfere when im setting the alarm and leaving the house. I believe the following program will work but was wondering if there was a more eloquent method you may suggest. Paul Away - [iD 0049][Parent 004A] If Elk Area 'The Jameson's' 'Arm Up State' is Armed with Exit Timer Then Wait 5 minutes Enable Program 'Paul Home' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Paul Home - [iD 0048][Parent 004A][Not Enabled] If $sPaul.Is.Home is 1 And Elk Area 'The Jameson's' 'Armed State' is Armed Away Then Set Scene 'Welcome Home' On Set Elk Area 'The Jameson's' Disarm Wait 5 minutes Set '1st Floor / Kitchen / Camera On-Off Bot' Off Disable Program 'Paul Home' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')

Hi Teken, The Pronto rfx9600 is sending the commands from the pronto 9600 remote to trigger scenes. Have a few setup, movie time, intermission, reading, etc. Pronto remote controls all the AV equipment and NAS with icons for TV channels. Works extremely well, aka meets the wife acceptance factor!

Poked around a bit more after Teken's suggestion above... Appears the old PLM version shows the same message in the Admin Console, Unsupported Device 3.17. Guess I just never noticed as everything was working properly... Thanks for the assist!

Hi Teken, Im not using it as a PLM.... it hooked up to a serial port to a Pronto RFX 9600 controlling lights, etc. Previous versions of the PowerLinc were properly classified when Linked. Is anyone else using this version of a PowerLinc and had it recognized by the ISY? BTW the device is working properly, just shows unsupported in the ISY Admin Console.

My PLM bit the dusk last week so ordered a replacement from SmartHome. Its a PowerLinc Modem Serial Interface (Dual Band) 2413S Revision 2.3 4216. Error keeps coming up with unsupported device if I manually select add new PowerLinc or try via the set button on the unit. Any thoughts on how to correct?

MobilLinc does not work with the non pro 994i version on Lollipop. Had to upgrade to the Pro version ($30) and then suffer with slow response with cell data connections. I would just stick with KitKat.

Interesting topic and luckily have never experienced the all on issue. Question, why buy the Insteon opener kit when this zwave device is available which would be controlled by the ISY? Would the same issue occur if a keypad button is programed to trigger the isy to send a zwave command to open or close? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M75TEIU/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=PBYV64QP7F0S&coliid=I3FHF55RQ18LT4

Thank you.... Will get the hang of this eventually.

Thanks for your code above, I have implemented it along with Webcontrol and it is working well. One question on your code above. I get 2 text messages when the generator goes off, believe this is due to your sendmessage code as else statement says to send off text if GeneracIsOn is not equal to 1. The GeneracIsOn has three states, 1, 2, and 0 so when it changes to 2 or 0 i get the off text. Any thoughts on a fix?

Thanks Lee, your are correct, must have been tired last night! Found the command have the WebControl send a state variable.

Larry, Finally had some free time to work on this project a bit more. I have been able to get the state variables to change depending upon the TTL input on the WebControl. However for the life of me I cannot get a program to work and send a text message. If I tell it to run the If statement the text comes but when the state changes from 0 to 1 it doesnt trigger. What am I doing wrong? If $WebControl_IP1 is 1 Then Send Notification to 'Me Text' content 'Generator Power On' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')

Jim, Just received the CAI board. What do I need to do on the ISY side to allow variables to be set by the CAI? Is the ISY network module required? From the CAI manual I see the example to set the ISY URL1 192.168.2.222:80:www:mydomain.com, what the heck is the :www.mydomain.com?

jzsjr, Looks like im going to have to go the relay and CAI route too. The micro sense is just not a reliable device and I suffer the same issue of not turning off when power to sense is removed. I actually pulled wires ito the house from both the utility side and the generator side of the transfer switch such that when utility is on I have 120 on that pair, and when the generator is running I have on the other pair. This will allow be to test if I have power on both the utility and generator side, generator must be in test mode. Havent worked with the CAI nor webset command so any guidance on how to tie to the relay and trigger the ISY would be appreciated.

This is a follow on to this thread http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/13915-micro-onoff-sense-for-generator-status/. What I am trying to do is send a text message when the status of two 2443-222 micro switches detects power on sense line 1. I have sense power running from the transfer switch such that when utility power is on it triggers the 2443 and a program (see below) sends a text message. Same for the generator side, when it fires up it triggers the second 2443 and a program sends a text message. A third programs looks at the status of the two 2443 and if the utility has power and the generator has power it sends a text message that the generator is in exercise mode. The 2443 and the ISY are on UPS however I noticed some reliability degradation when I plugged the PLM into the UPS negating the power line transmissions. The generator fires up and transfers load within 30 seconds of utility power failure. Of course if it doesnt nothing will get sent which is why I initially tried to place the PLM on the UPS. Suppose I could put a wait statement in the programs. Any suggestions as to program or hardware modifications would be appreciated. Generator Power On If Control 'Power Source / Generator Power' is switched On Then Send Notification to 'Me Text' content 'Generator Power On' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Generator Power Off If Control 'Power Source / Generator Power' is switched Off Then Send Notification to 'Me Text' content 'Generator Power Off' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Generator Exercise If Control 'Power Source / Generator Power' is switched On And Status 'Power Source / Utility Power' is On Then Send Notification to 'Me Text' content 'Generator Exercise Mode' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Utility Power On If Control 'Power Source / Utility Power' is switched On Then Send Notification to 'Me Text' content 'Utility Power On' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')

If I have the ISY (network, etc) on an UPS and a micro 2443 (also on UPS) sends a signal that power has been removed from the sense line, will the ISY keep trying to send the message to the PLM until the PLM (not on UPS) responds? Would like to keep the PLM off the UPS so I can continue to use the power line mode.

Thanks Mike, Thank God I no longer have any X-10 devices.... Ripped them all out a few years ago after wife complaining that the automation (my hobby) never worked consistently, especially the outdoor entry lights..
-
Exactly what I hoped to hear... as the PLM is in the office with 4 other dual band devices, (3x outlets, 1 keypad) I should be in good shape to plug the PLM into the UPS. Follow up question for those who have the PLM plugged into a UPS. Do you still use a filterlinc on the power to the UPS?
-
e Excellent point, thank you. So how does the rest of the Insteon network communicate? Specifically if the PLM (dual band) is plugged into the UPS which negates the powerline transmission, do other devices (all dual band) when receiving an RF signal only re transmit an RF or do they transmit both RF and powerline. If they transmit both then as long as you have another dual band device close their shouldnt be any reliability degeneration, correct?
-
Thanks, thats what I figure, two micros. Yes PLM & ISY work perfect with the generator. Whats even more surprising is that the micro module Line and Neutral are plugged into the UPS and transmits status perfectly (was thinking that wouldnt work). Kept reading how UPS blocks signals and what is even stranger the UPS is on a fliterlinc too. Would be interesting to try the PLM in the UPS as well as then would have complete redundancy.

Ok, the yellow sense wire turns the device on, the purple turns the device off. All well and good and works when I apply power and I can hear and see the relay is functioning as such. Issue now appears that although the relay switches it doesnt send an insteon command until the power is removed. If I leave the power connected command is not sent and if left longer the unit starts flashing in error mode. This wont work for me as power will always be applied to purple or yellow (but not at the same time). Appears I may need to have two of these units, one for generator supply, another for utility with them setup as latching, single line, act as 3 way. Any other ideas out there?

Have a standby generator and would like to know via text whether its sending power or if it is coming from the utility. I have been travelling and would like to know the power status (especially since the generator needs oil everyday of run time under load). I have hooked the sense wires, 1 to the utility, 2 to the generator on each side of the transfer switch. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to program this device to execute an if statement. Is there no option in the ISY to 'sense' whether there is power on either sense line and then execute an action? Im sure I must be missing something here... Thanks in advance

I just installed the Zwave module in the ISY and trying to get it to work with the XL824 too. Not having any luck anyone have any ideas on how to get these two units to communicate?
-
Replacing my heat pump system and will be installing a new Tran XL824 thermostat. Reading the brochure it has ZWave capability. Would the ISY with the ZWave module be able to communicate with the thermostat? Looking to have the thermostat switch to Away Mode when the Elk alarm system is armed. Any experience out there with the XL824 or will I be the guinea pig?

You are a genius... that fixed the problem. Had a power outage the other night till the backup generator kicked in. Thanks.

After about a month the SwitchLinc has stopped responding to ISY commands and show a big red exclamation mark. Tried to query to no avail. Device is close to other dual band devices (3 - 6 ft) including the ISY PLM. Any thoughts as to whats going on besides just a dead device? Here is the event log...
