Thank you again Lee. This would be fine with the off button always off but the on button following the the trigger event. Still cant figure out why my keypad 1 requires two presses to execute a program, any thoughts?
-
Eric, Yes that should work but found out one of the new curtain motors requires that the relay be momentary, eg normally open so no action, to trigger action momentary closed, then 3 sec delay back to open. With this requirement the curtain requires two relays, one for open and another for close action. Have handled this by two simple programs triggered by a keypad button. The strange part is it all works but always takes 2 presses of the Kepad 1 On or Off button to trigger the scenes. I pushed the On button once and checked the status of the ISY via the query and it shows the correct status but will not trigger the program then clause unless I push it again. The even stranger part is if I press the Keypad 1 off button (after the two presses on the on button) the off works fine and then if I press the on it works fine. However if I leave for 10 min or so and try it again it once again requires two presses to get things going again. Very strange.

Looking for suggestions on how to achieve the following: I have four curtains in the bedroom which each have their own scene containing a relay and a keypad button eg relay 1 and keypad button A. When keypad button is switched on it turns on relay 1. Same for buttons and relays 2 - 4 and keypad B-D. So far so good everything works as planned. What I also have done is create a program such that when Keypad 1 On is pressed it executes a program to set all the scenes for the curtains to open eg On. Conversely same when the Off is pressed all the curtains close. What doesnt seem to be working correctly is the LED status updates for 1 (On/Off) nor for the A-D when then the main 1 Keypad button On/Off is triggered. Ideally when the button 1 On is pressed the A-D buttons would light up and conversely when button 1 is pressed off all the A-D and 1 Off would extinguish. Would also be good is after button 1 is pressed on and later any button A-D is pressed to close a curtain button 1 LED would extinguish too as not all of the curtains are open. Thoughts on how to tie all this together? Thanks in advance.

Currently have one scene which has all my interior devices. Included in the 'Interior' scene are all the keypad buttons (1-D) and all the controlled devices. Is this the best practice or should i group keypad buttons and devices by room or floor eg a scene for each room/floor and then run a program to set each scene off? Is it necessary to include the devices if the keypad button is already the controller for a device? I realize that i cant just have the controlled device in the scene as then the keypad does not show the correct status. Have a couple of dozen keypads and god knows how many outlets, switches, fanlincs etc. Good thing the wife doesnt see the bills. Sorry for these basic questions but didnt find a clear answer in the wiki.

Thank you Lee.

I have been looking at the wiki's and other postings but still am a bit confused as to the selection to be made when adding a new device. From what I gather a controller is automatically a responder with the ISY. Question is why would you not just make everything a controller vs just selecting it as a responder? Understand some units cannot be controllers, fanlinc, EZIO, etc. What is the downside to everything being a controller or vise a versa what is the advantage to making something just a responder?

Thank you, ports are forwarded and working great.

Basic question first, do I need to purchase the network module? When i try and enable internet access I get the following error: Failed Enabling Internet Access.
-
As others have done I bought the Pro version a while back and now doesnt work as cloud subscription has expired. I use dyndns for my NAS and would like to use Pro to check on the lighting when i am on the road. What are the steps to set this up? Do I need to purchase the network module? Tried searching but didnt find any answers off the bat... Thanks in advance.

Ok, appreciate the info and guidance. Looks like i will just need to build the scene in my remote and transmit the commands for each device. Just means dual maintenance for the scenes, once for the isy and once for the remote. Thanks again for your help. Looks like i have some summer reading to do to use TCPIP from my remote to the ISY. Was just hoping for a quick and dirty rs232 comm method.

Ok, that sort of makes sense to me.... anyway to get the link records in sync between the two 2413S or is that info stored only in the ISY? Seems strange that I can get all other devices to communicate directly with my remote with the unique address but even though the KeyPadLinc has a unique address eg 00.00.00.3 cant address it directly. But the ISY appears to be able to, very strange

I have two 2413S one connected to the ISY the other to my remote. Here are the two logs from the event viewer, one generated from the KeyPadLinc the other from the Web interface. What are you hoping to accomplish with computer control that you cannot do via the isy's own programming and ability to interact with the insteon network itself? I have a Pronto RFX9600 remote which has a serial outputs. I use the remote to control my home theater (tv, receiver, dvd, etc), so what i would like is to have two scene buttons on the remote, one to dim the lights, the other to brighten during intermission. I can do this directly using the hex code for each unit, but would rather use a scene which controls all at once and is working on the keypadlinc.
-
Okay, Im puzzled about how the ISY is able to turn off the keypadlinc buttons via a scene via the 2413S but I am unable to do the same via a hex command. How does the ISY accomplish this feat? If i use the web based interface and turn on the scene for the A button the scene correctly turns off the B button. There must be commands for the 2413S to do this, yes/no?
-
I currently have a scene which dims lights. I have a ISY program which when the A button is pushed executes the scene. What i would like to be able to do is execute the ISY program via the computer by sending the correct hex codes. Any thoughts on how to accomplish?
-
Im using a computer interface to control lights and scenes with a PowerLinc 2413S. I can get it to work when i address a unit directly eg office lights, 02 62 1A 82 5E 05 11 FF. I cant for the life of me figure out how to address a 6 button KeyLinc pad for 1, A, B, C, D etc. Any thoughts? Trying to get ISY to recognize a hex string which when sent from the computer will execute a program which controls a scene.
-
Works perfect! Thanks so much, man there is a lot to learn with this system.
-
Sounds like what i would like to do... can you give me a quick example of what you are describing? Now I have program turn on the exterior scene at sunset. The keypad B is part of the exterior entry scene as both a controller and responder. What do i need to add to the exterior scene to get the B button led to turn off after 15 secs or better yet turn off at 9PM at night. Eg if time is between 9 PM and sunrise turn led light off.
-
Thank you again Lee... Just a follow up question, in the bedroom I have the B scene button for the exterior entry lights. Of course at night i want these lights on. Is there a way to completely turn off the scene button when the exterior light is on? Button level is set to 0 on the controller but is still way to bright in a otherwise dark bedroom.
-
Thank you... So it would seem for all controllers that 'control' interior lights they should all be added to the 'interior' scene, correct?
-
I have a 6 switch controller in the garage and a program activated when the Off button is pressed. The program sets the scene 'interior' off, the interior scene contains all the outlets and switches in the house. Question is the controller that is in the office controls lights in the office and does not update the status correctly on the scene b button. Eg when i press the off button on the controller in the garage, all the lights turn off but the controller in the office still is lit indicating that the light is on when in fact it is actually off. How does one correct this such that the controller is showing the correct status? Add the controller to the interior scene?
-
Is there a way to turn off the led's on a 6 button KeyPadLinc completely? Lights in the bedroom bother the wife so hope there is a solution . 0 setting keeps then on dim but still on.
-
Just received my first 6 keypadlinc and am having issues programming. I created a new scene with the on / off buttons included. I then tried to add an X10 switch to the scene and received an error message that the request failed. Im hoping I havent learned two lessons here the hard way. First can you add an X10 device to be controlled by a KeyPadLinc controller? Second can you have discrete scenes for the On and Off buttons? Or am I just dumb as a stump for not being able to figure this out?

I have a scene called Foyer which contains 3 2477D Switchlinc dimmers. One is connected to the load in the foyer, the other is a controller in the upstairs hallway, the third is a controller in the kitchen. All three currently work fine manually in so much as if I operate one switch the others follow suit with the correct led indication. How do I set up a program such that at sunset the lights are on 100%, then at 10PM at 40%, and finally off at sunrise? Dumb question, but this one has me stumped. Thanks in advance for you patience.
