I'd go with Zooz sensors as they are low cost and quite small. Can't speak on longevity but i do like what i see so far in my testing. Just make sure you get the 700 series
-
No. The use of a variable isn't necessary unless you want other things to happen
-
The only thing similar to direct association with insteon is you don't need a controller. In practice however DA is very limited compared to insteon. Personally, while it may be faster to turn on other lights with DA, you give up to much programmatically in practice to make it worthwhile

Id go with any 700 series motion sensor such as the zooz.

Admin console Help menu doesn't work

It does work. It's the same as the dimmer. If you have one give it a shot. Not sure why they list the steps the way they did -

Factory reset is still the same. Unplug. Hold set button in while plugging in. Continue to hold until beeping stops. -
All of the companies that currently work with Ra3 are large established companies with a professional installer base. UDI is much smaller than they are which means they arent their priority. Those who can make you the most money gets priority. No different than any other company. One thing Lutron requires is full support from their partners meaning, if you have a problem with your system, you call C4 not Lutron (in this case the customer calls their dealer). With UDI, they'll want to fully vet them to ensure that theyll be able to provide proper support so they arent inundated with calls from end users.

I can see your point. But we need something outa place where this question can be asked/found easily since it pops up every other day. Maybe we can get rid of some of the unused forums and use this in those slots. We both know before the weekend is out we'll be answer this question again
-
@Geddy, I think we need a sub-forum for this specific topic which contains all of the 50 bazillion gillion posts asking this same question every other day. That way, people dont have to repeat the same thing over and over again. @macjeff your only option is zwave
-
Its quite sad that companies have truly abandoned those who allowed this field to grow. I get it from a business sense but it doesnt mean that I have to like it. There are no best options overall in the DIY market. For zwave to work really well, you really need to dumb it down alot. Zwave works spectacular when it comes to the basic on/off app controlled systems...Not so great when it comes to true automation. With that said, if I didnt have access to Control 4, I would probably go with hue bulbs and focus only in the areas that I use automation in the most. Im trying to move towards a responsive/reactive home vs needing to use any type of controls and I can accomplish that with bulbs. Even now, its rare that we actually touch a switch. For the few occasions we do, I could easily move those to voice control. While I like that I can use insteon without a hub, Im tied to one regardless so Im not as much against it as I used to be. With hue, I can at least add some type of switch for local control should my polisy/router fail. Outside of that, Id probably go back to standard dummy switches/dimmers and use timers for things such as the front porch/garage. Thankfully, thats not an option I need to be concerned with

You just need one for a hot topic. It seems like 1 post comes up and then certain people show back up and repeat the same question over and over.

There are some nodeservers that can run on an RPI but not all. If the nodeserver you want is on this list, then you are able to set it up on an RPI to use. Just know, now that PG3 is out, most developers probably will not update those on PG2 so they may not continue to work

WAAAY to many. I should copy and paste for future reference.?

Did you try factory resetting the device

Is this a 99 or 994 -
Michel has already stated they will not be adding support for the nokia line UNLESS Smartlabs provides them with the necessary documentation and support needed to add them properly. While the base protocol is the same, there are still a lot of features that would need to be added to get them to work properly with the ISY. For starters, the switches can be a relay or dimmer. You can also set the low end trim so that your bulbs do not flicker when dimmed too low. The most obvious aspect that would be missing is the firmware updates since UDI wouldnt have access. Without UDI adding support, they can be added to the ISY in their basic state as an unsupported device. The ISY will actually control the devices as well. Only the kpl load would show up in the ISY and when it comes to the dual outlet, only the top outlet would show and allow the isy to control it. You would not receive status from any device without querying it. Im hoping they actually recognize how much money they are leaving on the table by shunning so many existing users. Right now, they want to build their own brand but hopefully they realize that theyll need partners to succeed.

Support thread for: ISY on Polisy (IoP) v5.4.0 (Feb 28, 2022)
lilyoyo1 replied to Geddy's topic in IoX Support
Michel's original post said it's not necessary at this time. -
They are all using the same chip (500 series) so im surprised the results between the dimmer and Switch are so different. It could be something within that particular firmware. 700 series processors are faster than 500 series, in addition to the extended range, greater memory capacity, and greater battery life. A better comparison would be to do the same test with the 994 to see how big of a difference you get since 1 test is using 700 with 700 devices.

Used SSH and this took care of it. No more issues.

Thats not a fair test since you're comparing a 700 series device to a 500 series device. Its going to be much faster

Same flashing light on the left (if facing polisy). The 6 taps does not work. Tried 2x and waited 30 minutes each time before rebooting. ISY shows that it updated and verified using ssh -

What insteon calls stuff with their software/hub can and will be different when it comes to someone else's controller. UDI isn't going to buy someone else's product just to see what they call something. It's similar to how we speak in general. Depending on where you're located, you may call the highway a freeway or interstate. One additional note: insteon calls it led on tx in their own manuals and developers guide.
