There may be the unshielded RPi case vs the full metal jacket polisy factor there too. The option of getting my Zwave into the more middle of the house appeals to me, though. This is compared to the PLM which is best close to the electrical panel for best powerline centering. Gives a whole new meaning to finding a "sweet spot". The USB PLM comes to mind also. Now the polisy wouldn't have to be so close to the PLM either, on a decent USB extension.

Nice! and thanks! Have you discovered which is the correct model required? Upward connector, or Downward connector, or is there no way to tell? The pictures are not giving any of the definition away AFAICT. I think I may go with a short USB extension cord so I can pin the antenna/dongle on a wall or coathanger fabricated "display stand" away for a dense surface wall.

Timezone setting and location for sunrise/sunset
larryllix replied to MWareman's topic in IoX Support
Mine wasn't either but the freeBSD timezone was never set permanently and properly and ISY kept reinstalling the system timezone back to LA.. At least being in the right timezone wasn't off by 3 hours here. Sent from my SM-G781W using Tapatalk -
Battery operated devices will echo through any dual band Insteon device they can find, but typically the device must be within about 20-30 feet. YMMV. If you have a spare dual-band plug-in module you could try plugging it in in various receptacles close to your battery devices and see if a restore can allow them to be controlled again. You may just have something creating a huge RF noise in your home that jamms all the signals.

Timezone setting and location for sunrise/sunset

I posted a link to a website with instructions to fix the system time zone in freeBSD a few posts back. Sent from my SM-G781W using Tapatalk -
That sounds use you moved or lost the dual band device that was receiving the rf signals from your battery operated devices, and/or got some new line noise blocking your powerline only devices, like IOlincs. Sent from my SM-G781W using Tapatalk

There is an ISY enable switch in the admin console Configuration tab. ooops. already covered above. Sent from my SM-G781W using Tapatalk

Yes, definitely but only one program will trigger Then at any given time. With multitasking processing these days they may appear simultaneous to a human, though. In any one program, only one trigger will ever cause evaluation of the If section logic at any time. While one control/switched statement causes evaluation, any other control / switched statement will be False. Thus Status condition statements are born. Status can act like a combination of event trigger and static condition from the same condition line....provided the program is NOT disabled. Sent from my SM-G781W using Tapatalk

it works with one or two state variables but not with two device controls / switched, and will always run Else. Two devices switched can never be True at the same time in ISY logic. Sent from my SM-G781W using Tapatalk

Thanks! I had a further thought that could be a side effect of the endian switch in option bits and I just got caught violating your no-restore ISY/polisy recommendations. Sent from my SM-G781W using Tapatalk

I did do that for a few of them with no option update. The restore did not seem to affect the options. Links were all exact, according to the compares. Being away I have no admin console access at this time. Sent from my SM-G781W using Tapatalk

No. During my backup ISY and Restore same image to Polisy, all units had their contact options set to momentary, not at continuous as they were left, and being used in ISY. Polisy showed continuous, in all status page cases (4) but when each unit was queried the option switched to Momentary. Each option was corrected to Continuous and has appeared to stay. Something in the cross backup/restore coding. Sent from my SM-G781W using Tapatalk

@Michel KohanimToday I found all four of my IOLincs set to momentary outputs instead of latching, as was selected after my ISY backup Restore into polisy. This was found due to my buzzLinc (thanks Stu for the IOlinc with beeper taped to the front) I use for home security alerts and warnings of alarm time on as well as entrance zone violation warning timing. Insted of leaving and returning bepping for 45 seconds it only beeped for the momentary 0.5 seconds each. No program errors could be found but the "options" wer found to be set Momentary. Check three other IOLincs they were also set toe Momentary instead of Latched. Possible logic state reversal in polisy to ISY fro IOLincs?

Adding extra ZWave controllers to expand range?
larryllix replied to PatPend's topic in Z-Wave - Series 300/500
Always mark your humour, especially sarcasm, in a text only medium. People can't see the big smile on your face no matter how obvious it seems to the originator. It can avoid a lot of friction and hard feelings. Many cultures and backgrounds here, interpret things differently, and many are showing signs of pandemic long term stress (been a huge problem in my home at times, also). All the best!! -
LOL! Well, there is that too. Doesn't the voice training of Alexa help that aspect any? I have refused to do it but it has figured out which of the three of us are talking now and addresses us by name, many times. (despite never setting this up. They are getting worse than google for second guessing everything with their artificial guessing) Now I know where all the money goes though.
-
Yes, definitely depends on your culture (previous experience) and tastes. With about 160 Alexa commands I cannot imagine even starting to use a control panel. Using a mobile app, it takes mt 2-3 minutes to get through 8 levels of menus to even find a device. How does a control panel cover 15 different colours in three rooms? It just sounds like a lot of overcomplicated clutter on any screen less that 80" diagonal to me.
-
Many of us wanted the same thing but once smart voice boxes, like Echo and Google Home come out they feel obsolete now. The combinations of what they can respond to is almost unlimited and much easier that getting and walking to a control panel that is beside you real wall switches.

Timezone setting and location for sunrise/sunset
larryllix replied to MWareman's topic in IoX Support
@MWaremanSo far this seems to have worker for an approximate timezone setting. Whether it stays until @Michel Kohanim get it fixed on a more accurate location remains to be seen. You have to know the exact file pathname to your timezone to make the commands work. https://www.itbroker.com/set-the-timezone-in-freebsd/ -
Check the top of your admin console and see if you are located in LA Cal. Sent from my SM-G781W using Tapatalk

No UDI product supports the Insteon Hub AFAIK.

Manual entry is best. I did restore from an ISY backup and got all my programs and variable names in but every single element has to be checked, Insteon devices all reiadded (and then restored to dump old links) and programs re-linked in, variable values endian fixed and NR loaded and resaved. It got my system cloned but about two days work of work. 500 programs, 500 variables.
-
That term confuses me a lot. I understood NRs were only passive to be called by programs. Does this mean NRs can be self triggering? Sent from my SM-G781W using Tapatalk

No dongle but an internal Zwave card. As I have read here, if you have a green LED sticking out of the case (on back?) you have the 300 version.
-
V1 is gone V2 is current V3 is coming and requires a polisy.
-
The 1011 in green indicates the device is online but there is binary data waiting to be written to the device. In Insteon devices this is typically because the device is a battery operated one and the data cannot be written until the device is manually place in Linking mode. I don't know about Zwave but, this is not a bug, but rather a feature of the admin console indicating several factors the user needs to correct or be aware of.
