  1. It appears they got into financial trouble, tried different approaches, bankruptcy, hiring an investor, Rob Lilleness as a figurehead CEO, but the owner just wouldn't let go of his failed ideas, still micro-managing, and took the whole company down with his business depression. He just gave up, and Rob Lilleness may be taking all the brunt of the mud slinging and market anger, while the real culprit hides from public view. It always seemed like the same bad attitude was behind the failures, no matter whose name was in the forefront over the years.
  2. Owning the IP, UDI could license out the technology so they do not become the next 'sole provider', that SmartHomes was so mass rejected for. Other forums would constantly poo-poo the Insteon name due to being a "lone provider". The funny part was Zwave was in the same boat being the only IC manufacturer, but hid it from the market until they let it out into the wild a few years ago.
  3. It wouldn't matter. It would be an Intellectual Property violation. Until the patents are allowed to ex$pire, permission is needed.

  5. Trouble with all that good stuff is....will the market trust anything with the Insteon name on it anymore? UDI may be jumping on board a sinking ship. Sent from my SM-G781W using Tapatalk

  7. Sounds like somebody wanted the company and technology dead, right from the git-go.
  8. Gotta' love all the info on the web with no source name, or even dated. This may have been true at one time, or just a pipe-dream at any time but things have changed, apparently.
  9. The old stock has been sold off for the last 3-4 years. I purchased directly from Igonsteon once. All three items were received defective or became defective within a few months. They also held my shipment for over a month before shipping to Canada. When I claimed warranty they replied I could just ship each product back for warranty repair costing more than each product sold for. For example: The iRLinc I received had the sensor wiring reversed and could never work. Of course they couldn't just accept the sensor back or ship me a new sensor (all the way from China?) based on my word. I had to ship the whole thing back to them at about $50 shipping across the border cost. I never dealt with Smarthome/Insteon sales again. Despite all their sales, Canadian distributors were always cheaper after paying the exorbitant shipping and handling fees. (yeah... USPS also takes about 3 weeks).
  10. Careful! I would be sure that somebody is listening, and possibly participating here.
  11. It may have been a hostile take-over by Nokia, and Insteon has been hiding from his father's belt! We can only hope.
  12. We still only have conjecture and guessing as we always have had. Who knows what will become of the technology with a different name?
  13. Do you have any programmed Insteon scenes that control the devices randomly changing?
  14. Contact the bankruptcy brokers. I would think somebody here may know all their phone numbers.
  15. Some are looking for excuses to bash every product except the ones they promote. If we were all afraid to upgrade devices we would all be running ISY-26 boxes and driving pagers instead of smart phones. I have installed many upgrades since ISY V3.xx I have upgraded my A/V receiever and TV about 6-8 times each since new. Geesh what a crock.
  16. My guess is there was always a hidden agenda to run the business into bankruptcy or at least waste all the money. Nobody plays it as stupid as they did in business. Not even one attempt to make a comeback. The handwriting was always on the wall but we were always given the excuses by phoney inside information. Glad it wasn't our dimes. Sad. 17. The only way you can integrate anything into an Insteon Scene is with an Insteon device. However, I think you are referring to a 'scene" in the generic sense and not Insteon Scenes", and I don't think I am following your logic of what you want to do, avoid Alexa groupings partially, all together, or use Alexa totally.
  18. If you are just looking for a White bulb, there are many smart bulbs, sold in Walmart, and amazon that can be controlled with Alexa or GH voice control skills.. If you are looking for RGBW bulbs and want to control colours then you will need to get more complicated with software, NSs or Network Resources.
  19. Strange. I have never heard of "Resume Dim" in Insteon devices. I have also never seen it mentioned in the Insteon device manuals or remote control gadgets. At least your factory reset fixed it for now. It appears your ISY programming was setting your On level somehow that you had forgotten. I tried to paddle set the On level on one of my switchlincs and I cannot make it happen, as I thought it did formerly. Maybe Insteon did change their design. Most of my SwitchLincs have been removed for moving out later, so I cannot test the rest of the versions.
  20. It seems to operating exactly the way Insteon devices are designed. SwitchLincs remember the last On level programmed into them. You likely just needed to write the desired on level into the device. This can be done in programs, manually from the admin console or manually at the switch paddle. Mine get changed twice per day via ISY programs.
  21. I don't see any switches on the Shelly webpages. Am I missing something? I have done animations of lighting with a few dozen RGBW LED strips using WiFi 2 and a 40 year old router similar to what I am hearing people complaining about. Yeah it was supposed to have a limited DHCP reservation table but I have never found the end of it yet. I am currently at about 78 devices, not all IP reserved. However, my 20 year old ASUS router really did some stupid things once I loaded in some third party router firmware. Apparently the firmware didn't know the memory size and overran it. It seemed to act up after about 51 devices.
  22. I am finding few routers that are dropping support for WiFi 5 for some reason. My ASUS mesh system will not even talk to my Roku Stick 6-8 feet away. Signals levels are not bad but they are just not compatible. WiFi 6 is the WiFi that should have been implemented decades ago, with it's multi-device management. For now, and until WiFi 6 devices are created, the old WiFi 2.4 works very well for lighting, but I wouldn't want to try it for switches and other fast response needed devices. Mind you, WiFi anything is faster than Insteon ever was. Somebody just needs to develop grouping commands (Scenes) in WiFi based devices for less pop-corn effect.
  23. Appears as a hang-over from a testing phase that is not required anymore. I second that. New users wondering WTF are others talking about...changing icons?
  24. ISY likely doesn't know the preset on level from the switch. Try setting it manually from ISY admin console and then test again. I set many of my lights each evening so when the pee run happens at 3:00 AM I don't get blinded. Sent from my SM-G781W using Tapatalk
  25. Sounds like a ticket request from super @Michel Kohanim before the data becomes lost. or perhaps @bmercier would be able to help. He's the creator of this bridge over troubled waters.
