  1. Thank you stusviews. Makes sense to me to want the valve normally open providing fluid flow and sending Off to stop the flow. I’ll try that connection early in the week, raining where I am now. To confirm: the IOLinc should be set to “Latching?”
  2. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I'm assuming I need to apologize for something I've said or done or not said or not done in the past on this forum. Can't remember a post that's lasted 10 hours without a comment or helpful suggestion much less 10 days. The folks here have been very helpful and knowledgeable. Guess I'll get out the voltmeter and see if I can figure it out through trial and error. Don't really want to experiment with figuring this out while messing with the home water supply plus having to crawl under the house to do it.
  3. Greetings, I am trying to hookup my Greenfield ASV 100 water valve. I've read multiple posts on this forum which contain different information on how to hook this up or perhaps the differences are between the ELK version and the Greenfield version of the valve. One thread is here: https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/19654-elk-water-shutoff-valve-and-insteon-io-linc/page-1?hl=greenfield With these specific instructions posted by Brian H. Connect the +12 volt power supply voltage to the IO Linc Relay Common. Connect the -12 volt power supply to the Black wire on the valve and relay coil. With the Red on the NC and White on NO the valve will be closed when the IO Linc is Off. When the relay in the IO Linc is switched. The +12 volt power on the IO Linc relay common terminal is switched between open and closed valve inputs. Indication of status. Wire the Green from the valve to one of the relay coils terminals. Wire the other relay coil terminal to the 12 volt common of the power supply. That is also connected to the Black Valve wire. Then use the dry relay contacts of the relay. Wired to the Sensor and Common Inputs. The second post is here: http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/12765-elk-wsv2-for-less/?hl=greenfield With these instructions posted by Xanthros. This is the method I tried first with no success; the Greenfield valve did not respond at all even though it appears the IOLinc status is showing correctly within the ISY. For Power, Red to the power source +12, Black to the power source ground. For Valve Control, Black to the IOLinc Relay Com, White to IOLinc Relay N/O For Feedback, Green to IOLinc Gnd, Purple to IOLinc Sense. Turn relay On to Open valve. When the valve is Open, the IOLinc sensor will report On. I am just trying to confirm I have the right instructions (Xanthros), and if so, I need to figure out why I am not getting the valve to respond. Thoughts from anyone??? Thank you.
  4. Now I'm totally confused. I've tried installing my Greenfield valve with no success. I used the connections as described by Xathros in March of 2015 (posted below). But...I see a number of differences between Xathros' post and the connections cited in this post. In my case with Xathros' directions, it seems the IOLinc is responding as I would expect, when I turn it ON, I hear a click and the LED on the IOLinc turns bright. When I turn it OFF, I hear a click and the LED turns dim. Yet, the Greenfield valve doesn't respond at all. I'm trying to figure out what to do next..... 5. OK, deleted the keypad and re-added it. Didn't give me .1 but gave me "blank", "A" - "D", renamed the "blank" to "1" and good to go. Simple solution but had me baffled. Thank you all again....
  6. I don't have a .1 button. When I added the keypad I got A, B, C, D, and E. I'm going to delete the device and add it again and confirm...
  7. I do have a load on that keypad and successfully turn that load on and off via manual presses of the "on" and "off" buttons and programmatically I can control that same load via the ISY by addressing the "A" button, exactly like the 8 button keypad. But..the 6 button keypad has an "A" button separate from "main." In the ISY program / scene: turn on "A" and the "ON" button turns on and turns on the load. (Great). Now..there's an "A" button directly below "On", if I am using "A" to reference the "ON" button, how do I reference the actual "A" button?
  8. Hi all, I've searched for this one in several places but haven't been able to put my fingers on the answer and I'm sure the answer is right in front of my nose. I have several 8 button keypads in place all working great. I'm experimenting with the 6 button keypad. On the 8 button keypad, the "Main" button is one and the same as the "A" button and is addressed in the ISY as "A". In the 6 button keypad, there is a "Main" button AND an "A" button. Are those two distinct buttons addressable in the ISY independently and if so, how? The device is set up in the ISY as the 5 buttons addressed A-E, not 6 addresses. Thanks again!
  9. Thank you Teken, I will take note of that. And..I do have a FilterLinc on hand should it be necessary.
  10. You guys are all awesome, kind, timely, and helpful responses, thank you so much. Here's the one I ordered before I saw larryllix's response. Figured since they are a thermostat company they should know. http://www.store.radiothermostat.com/24VAC-Transformer-CT-Transformer.htm
  11. Thank you for the responses. Yes, the outletlinc is going to be 1-3 feet away from the thermostat, should be no problem with the RF signals. I'll look for the power step-down transformer and go from there.
  12. I purchased a 2441TH some time ago in anticipation of using it for a new house build. We ended up going a different direction but I am thinking I can still use this thermostat for another purpose. I have a closet containing a bunch of equipment most of it enclosed in a rack which has a built in fan cooling system. I've got the fans plugged into an outletlinc so the fans can be turned off and on independently. I'd like to use the thermostat to keep track of the ambient temperature inside the closet and if it reaches a set point to kick off the fan. Seems doable.... A couple of things for me to figure out. 1) thermostat requires 24VAC so that can be solved easily with a 110V to 24V converter. The question I am pondering, aside from power, are there any other connections that need to be made? I don't know if the thermostat is dual-band but does it send Insteon commands via the 24V power line or through other connections? Many thanks!
  13. That worked Larryllix, was able to add the new switch. Thanks!
  14. I did a factory reset on the device, yes. Your suggestion is to move the ISY and PLM closer to the new keypad? I can try that. Just fired up the admin program again now and still goes right back into the loop. I'll try your suggestion.
  15. What offending program? It's the system dialog box trying to add the device.. Even the 'X" to stop the dialog box is inoperative. ISY Admin screen shot 06-15-17.pdf
  16. Greetings, trying to add a new keypad today. ISY is now stuck in a loop with the system busy dialog box working all the way through from 0-100% then starting over at 0, again and again. Rebooted the ISY, unplugged the PLM, restarted the admin program and right back to the same loop again. Below is a sample from the event log. What's going on? 17. The keypads are brand new, didn't check the versions, not sure how that would explain the issue. The hard reset is a good tip, need to do that for every device moving forward. Have now done that for the keypad in question, no change in behavior. Next will be to replace the keypad with a different one and try again.
  18. Completed the second room with the exact same configuration as the first. Everything is working as expected. Press the respective key for low, medium, or high fan speed, the correlating keypad button lights up, fan goes to the appropriate speed, keypad light stays on until pressed again. Confirmed the first room is not behaving in that fashion. Press the key, keypad button lights up, fan goes to the appropriate speed, and then the keypad button light turns off. Necessary to reset the led levels on the keypad from the SY to get the led button lights to come on again. In my mind pointing to a bad keypad device in the first room. Any other opinions?
  19. I have two more rooms with this same setup I need to configure. I will report back after those.
  20. Greetings, I am now in the process of installing many Insteon devices after a new house build. I've successfully created three scenes to control a fanlinc (low, medium, high speed) via an 8 button keypad, however the LED lights on the keypad are not cooperating. I set the LED brightness for both on and off levels for the main keypad device which successfully propagates through the other 7 keys. Everything looks great, LED lights are on or off as expected but when I push any of the three keypad buttons for low, medium, or high speed of the fan, the keypad button lights up, the fan starts, and within 1-3 seconds the keypad button for that scene turns dark. I return to the ISY admin screen and see the LED brightness for on and off levels I just set are back to zero for both. Within each of the three scenes, the controller button on level is set to 100% while the other buttons are set at 0%. What am I doing wrong? Thank you for any help.
  21. So are you saying that if I use the Synchronize time functionality for whatever frequency, whenever it executes the time will be set incorrectly? If so, sounds like something I need t turn off.
  22. Thank you. Upgraded the UI and I do now see some differences. With location of Phoenix, the no daylight savings rule is specified and the daylight savings box is unchecked and cannot be checked so that is good. I want to see what happens over the next couple of days with the synchronize set to every 24 hours. When I synchronize now, the time changes and is off by 1 hour. When I Synchronize to the computer's time, it corrects itself. Does the synchronize now function use different rules than the local ISY?
  23. Firmware: 4.5.1 UI: 4.2.30
  24. Greetings, probably something simple on my end. I live in Phoenix, AZ (no daylight savings time). The Daylight Savings box is checked and the ISY time is off by 1 hour even though location shows correctly for Phoenix, AZ. When I try to uncheck the daylight savings time box, the box clears for less than 1/2 a second, then the check mark re-appears. The system busy dialog box comes up very briefly, then disappears, but the daylight savings box is still checked. The behavior repeats every time. If I Synchronize the clock with computer's time - it sets correctly to Phoenix time If I Synchronize now - it goes back to 1 hour off PC time is correct and shows the appropriate time zone NTP is enabled using pool.ntp.org Synchronize every 24 hours What to try next?
  25. dbwarner5, I am just now catching up with your posts from earlier this year. I too am in the process of a new house build and I am pleased to say I have almost the same components in mind that you state with minor variations. I am planning on a Russound CAA66 system but adding the DMS 3.1, Bluetooth BSK-1 and an intercom (ISH-1) Zwave for door handles Insteon light switches, dimmers, ceiling fan control, thermostat, etc. ISY for all controller / integration functions Wireless IP cameras Elk M1 gold wireless security system Mobilinc for geofence IOS mobile devices Windows based PC running ITunes server instead of a MAC I have no plans for X10. I am only planning on a single Russound keypad and using the IOS devices for primary Russound and lighting control. If you are agreeable I would be very interested in sharing experiences with you moving through this process. Where are you with your build and/or system implementation? Our house is in the framing stage but I am planning to deliver to the builder a wiring plan within the next 3 weeks. The fact that we are so close in terms of the overall system tells me I am on the right track. Regards
