I have a bunch of "away" programs I use when I go on vacation. Like "upstairs hallway away", "master bathroom away", where I turn on/off lights to make it look like someone is here. I enable these before vacation and disable them after vacation. I want to create one main program where I enable all of them, then disable all of them. Currently, I'm just enabling all of them in the "Then" part of a program, then disabling them in the "Else" part of the program. Is this reasonable? If I want to run the "then" part of this program manually (eg, through the Admin Console), can I do this? If so, how? I will likely add this to ISY portal and use Alexa to turn everything on, because I'd like to test this so I can create another similar program (eg, "getting back late" or "going to dinner"). (I would use something like "going on vacation" as the key words.) Is there any reason NOT to use Alexa?

Alexa no longer turns on zwave fans, "the hub is not responding"

So,I found what was zwave on the Isy portal, then looked at the terms I used for each one. I removed those terms from Alexa using the app, then removed the zwave item from the portal. I did that for the 5-6 zwave items I had, then added in the "new" zwave items to the portal, then had Alexa find new devices. This worked. -
Alexa no longer turns on zwave fans, "the hub is not responding"

Sorry, the end of the school year with two teens, both in different plays from different schools, is brutal. This weekend, for instance, we have dance recital, this week we had many longer dance classes, an award ceremony for my wife, .... That does appear to be the problem. Since I do this so rarely (as in never, I think(, how do I correct this? Something like this? 1) remove everything that's zwave from the ISY portal 2) remove those same zwave devices from the Alexa app 3) "reinstall" the zwave devices to the ISY portal 4) Have Alexa find new devices Does this sound correct? -

Yes. ALL of my Insteon works fine through Alexa. The ONLY zwave I have that's controlled by Alexa are my ceiling fans, three of them. NONE of those work through Alexa. -
Well, the EISY wanted me to update, so I did...and it wanted me to reboot, so I did...then I couldn't log in to Polyglot. Tried two browsers, Firefox and Google's. It's tricky. I rebooted by removing the power from then plugging the power back into the EISY. My normal browser (Firefox) did not work. But Google's did work. I can get back into Polygot. And it's at version 3.1.23 By the way, are there threads for all of these? For instance, there's a Harmony Hub that looks interesting. Now, I just need to get the time to figure out what I want and configure it.

The problem (or benefit, depending on how you look at it) is that my ISY was pretty old (10 years?) and was still running well. No real issues, other than Zwave to the front door lock. And had I moved the ISY to where I put the EISY (in the basement ceiling, about halfway into the house instead of in the basement on the far side of the house relative to the front door), I might not have needed the EISY. But I also realized I had to upgrade at some point... And the Polyglot looks very interesting. There's a lot I could do with that.

Thanks, all. What I had to do was remove the power from the Eisy and then put the power back on. There were no error messages at all. Basically, no matter what password I used, the login screen just sat there, with no evidence anything was happening or had been done. The version is 3.1.22. I did not see a way to update this. Does this update when you update the Eisy?
-
Following the steps there does not help. I get the same errors. (In fact, they are the same exact steps I've taken....many times.)
-
I've gone from my ISY 994i to an EISY. I migrated everything from the ISY to the EISY. How do I remover the ISY from the portal? And what do I do with a perfectly functioning ISY with zwave? Just put it in the local electronics recycling?

I'm trying to log in for the first time. I go to the IoX launcher, then for the URL, I open "Polyglot V3 (PG3)", and that brings me to https://192.168.x.xx:3000/. The first time I attempt to login, it brings me to the login for the ISY portal, which seems to work (?), but then I get back to the https://192.168.x.xx:3000/login, which asks me for my username and password. 1) Which username and password? (The EISY's or the ISY portal?) (Neither seem to work.) 2) Should I be seeing something different?

Thank you very much. Do you know if there is a Polygot for dummies? I see there are some great extensions/node servers, including notification, but they all say something like "Install from the Polyglot store." What Polyglot store? Where is it? (I couldn't find it.) By the way, I won't be using the Zwave smoke alarms. My thought was because we have something like 8 wired alarms, I'd just replace the alarms with wireless by putting the new alarm over the electrical box. But the Zcombo states the following: "Do not install this unit over an electrical junction box. Air currents around junction boxes can prevent smoke from reaching the sensing chamber and prevent the unit from alarming. Only AC powered units are intended for installation over junction boxes." I can't see having 8 covered electrical junction boxes AND 8 other smoke alarms.
-
For the notification node server, is there a page/guidance about how to install and use this? When I search (Duck Duck Go), I find threads about it, but they seem mainly discussions of errors and/or programming. Nothing to tell me how to install. I did find this: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY_Portal_Node_Server_Instructions But I'm not sure if this is the same thing. Thank you.

Interesting. I'll attempt to determine what mine actually does in a failure condition (eg, I wait for it to shut and purposely make it so the deadbolt won't be aligned with the hole, so the deadbolt won't get into locking position). I know it gives an audible alarm, but I don't know what happens from an electronic reporting point of view. I move the position of the eisy relative to the ISY 994i. This shows the location in the basement's ceiling where I put the Eisy and zwave and PLM. That outlet was there for some reason , and wasn't being used. The beam with all the cables is the main beam running approximately through the middle of the house. And this shows the rear door with zwave lock, and the relative location of the Eisy (look above the pole). You can barely make out the top of the ISY994i, just above the blue pillow (the ISY was mounted on the drywall in the set of shelves). I moved the Eisy about 15 feet closer to the front door (on the side of the house opposite to the door that's shown in the basement). So far, it has not failed in shutting either the basement door shown or the front door.

Allow me to continue. "You may also note that there are 4 screws included. After trying these in various holes of the mounting plate, you'll see that two of them fit two holes, which align with female holes on the Eisy to allow the Eisy to be mounted to the mounting plate. What are the other two holes for? You'll have to find out yourself. If you have a Zwave add-on, you might be concerned that the add-on will be affected by the mounting system. Do not fear! We have created the mounting system so that the Eisy is raised such that the Zwave add-on will not impinge whatever surface to which the mounting plate is attached. We have also included, in its own plastic bag, a pink "thing". Is it double sided tape? Or what is it? No one knows."

The post by Javi worked for the Alexa integration, which is mainly what I care about. No matter what I do, I cannot get the app to work. I cannot get it to work by saying I have Polisy, and even taking a picture of the back for eisy, I cannot get it to work. Moreover EVERY TIME I press a key on my phone, I get a "Could not match section" error with an OK button. EVERY TIME. Try typing in 192.168.xxx.yyy by pressing 1 then OK, then 9, then OK, then 2, then OK, then accidentally hitting m, then OK, then delete, then OK... As for the code, GIVE ME SOME INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!!!!!~!~!!!!~!~~~~ Whoever designed the packaging went to the Apple school of "we're not going to tell you anything, you have to figure out everything." Can I plug my Insteon into any USB port? No idea. Can I plug my Zwave board into any USB port? No idea. DO I NEED TO TAKE A PICTURE OF THE BOTTOM OF THE DEVICE? No idea. Instead, this is what you get: Where does it say that I'll be using a code on the bottom of the device? It says freaking NOTHING. I'll help you. Here's some text you can add: Note. If you are using an Insteon PLM, you can plug our overpriced cable system into any USB port. If you are using our Zwave add-on, you can plug this into any USB port. If you are going to use the UD app, and will not have access or have limited access to the bottom of the Eisy, please take a picture of the bottom for the QR code that is there. This QR code will be used later to ease set up of the UD app and the EISY. There. That will make people like me -- who have zero time to do this crap -- happier.

I don't know who the #$#% thought that having to scan the BOTTOM of the Eisy was a good idea, but it's not. My EISY is attached to wood in my basement. And even when I get my ladder, unhook everything, and scan the BOTTOM of the EISY, it still doesn't work.
-
Get the following error: "ISY [UUID] is not approved in the admin console." Any idea on how I can correct this? I just migrated from my ISY994i to EISY. That seemed to go well, both Insteon and Zwave are running. But the migration of the portal is not working.

Thank you. The other detriment I've found with these locks is that getting them to reliably go through the opening in the plate is a challenge. Even adjusting the bottom latch so that the deadbolt SHOULD align with the opening in the plate (if the latch latches), they don't always. This is where an error message would be good. I'll check out the other forum.

Thank you both. How long of a USB cable could I use? I ended up ordering everything this morning, mainly because my wife was not happy the front door wasn't locked. Might be here on Saturday. If so, I'll update the results once installed, though the issue with the front door is that it works most of the time. The failures are intermittent. By the way, for both the locks and the fire/smoke detectors, it would be nice if the eisy would alert you to errors. Is this possible? If so, is there any documentation about how to do this?

You know, if the eisy has longer or better zwave range, I think I have to make the transition. I have two zwave locks, one on the rear door in the basement, a few feet away from ISY994i, and one on the front door, which is on the first floor (above the basement) and on the other side of the house from the ISY. The front door is and always has been sketchy. Last night, it did not lock. And I have many outlets near it and around it with zwave repeaters. I think the problem may be bridging the distance from the ISY to the front door lock, as the basement has few outlets. (On the other hand, the zwave plug in module/repeater that operates a lamp in our foyer and is only maybe 8 feet away from the lock works flawlessly.) Either I move the ISY into the middle of the basement, possible but would entail running network cable and possibly power, or buy the eisy to see if that helps. (If it doesn't help, I can move it to the middle of the basement.) And at some point, I have to go to the eisy anyway.
-
Thank you both. I was headed the Eisy route anyway, it's just I might start that way before my ISY994i dies. It is a bummer that there are no Zwave hardwired smoke detectors that act as repeaters. Even if they used wireless for communications (and not the third wire that's run to them), the repeater function would be very helpful. Adding 8 of them to all 3 floors of my house would help the Zwave network. I have random plug in switches that are just set about my house doing nothing other than repeating the Zwave signal. (I only use one of these for a lamp.)

I have an ISY994i on a system that is mainly Insteon with a few Zwave devices (door locks, ceiling fans) thrown in. The Zwave network has always been sketchy, particularly for the door locks. I've had to add multiple plug-in light controllers/repeaters for Zwave, and even then the front door is sketchy (the ISY994i is on the opposite side of the house and a floor lower, and it's hard to bridge the gap between the two with Zwave devices). Does the Eisy have a stronger Zwave signal? We have wired smoke detectors with battery backup. My wife accidentally destroyed one while taking it down when it started beeping about low battery in the middle of the night. I've been thinking about getting Zwave smoke detectors, like these: https://www.costco.com/first-alert-z-wave-smoke-and-carbon-monoxide-alarm%2C-3-pack.product.100487243.html If I replaced all my smoke detectors with these, I would add at least 8 more Zwave devices in the home. Would these help strengthen my Zwave system? Do you know of Zwave smoke detectors that are wired? (I'm not sure I can replace wired alarms with something strictly wireless; have to check the codes at the local office.) Thank you.

Hopefully, it's not too far away, as I also wouldn't upgrade until I could integrate my zwave devices, and I only have 4 ceiling fan controllers and 2 door locks (and a bunch of zwave repeaters/lamp modules only because I couldn't get the zwave mesh to work well without them). Everything else is Insteon.
-
I'd also need the Zwave module, though I'm not sure about the sales pitch here: https://www.universal-devices.com/product/zmatter-usb-z-wave-matter-module-for-polisy-beta-copy/ "INSTEON got you down? Z-Wave range and limited functionality issues?" Actually, I have nothing but good to say about Insteon...except for their fan controllers, which I thought sucked. For a long time, the only Zwave I had in my house was fan controllers. Then I got two zwave door locks. What I really have a problem with is Zwave. The fans took a long time to get working, and the locks were horrendous. I had to buy many Zwave extenders/lamp switches, and even then Zwave is sketchy. My ISY 994i works (almost*) perfectly for Insteon, but I will likely upgrade for Zwave improvements. *Almost: at some point, I'll have to debug an issue where when I say "turn on/off rear dog lights" to Alexa, every once in a while, not all lights go on/off. Maybe I need a delay or two? Right now, I just say the command again.
