Well, gun manufactures do provide a safety. Just saying, maybe the ISY should not have the ability to disarm the ELK since the ISY is not a certified alarm system.
-
I can turn on my Denon using the Echo and the ISY. You should be able to do that with the Onkyo too as long as it has IP control using a network resource. You should also be able to select a source. Of course that would be two voice commands to the DOT. One to turn on the receiver and one to play the song.
-
You can try, but without the password I am not sure how you'd do it. So, do we need to petition ELK and UDI to remove the ability to do this? I know that just because you can maybe you should not but why do they even allow it then?

I do use a disarm command from the Echo. You have to say Alexa, turn on disarm the house password ........... I am sure this isn't the most secure way of doing it since you do have to have your password stored on the Amazon Alexa smarthome settings page but I would think if your password for that site was strong you'd be ok. I also have a program that can set off the Elk by saying Alexa, turn on panic. It arms the system in stay instant and then simulates a door being opened. I guess I could add that program to an else and when someone gets the password wrong it would trigger.

Yes, I have tried discovery multiple times after a forget all but it does not help. I deleted some programs I did not use to stay below 302 with all devices and scenes added that I do use. I will stay under 302 for now unless someone finds a work around or Amazon fixes the issue.
-
Disabled all skills except ISY and still having issues. Seems like a hard limit at 302 items (programs, scenes and devices added together). It will discover beyond 302 if I do not forget all but once I forget all I can never get above 302 until I delete enough to get below 302 and then add again with forgetting all. How items do other people have?

Just Ecobee is shown on the smart home page with the ISY. I thought I had a few more but they are not showing. How do you see all of the enabled ones? Yes it does see some devices but not others.

ISY optimized for smart home V2

I cannot figure out how to do that. Neither IE or Chrome let me paste images into a reply.

I cannot get Alexa to discover certain devices anymore. Programs are discovered. I even deleted them and re-created some in the portal but Alexa refuses to discover them. Any ideas? I disabled the skill and re-enabled it and rediscovered all but still nothing. Some devices that are discovered say undefined on the smart home page and others say their name.

I have no issue with Michel putting this on the wiki.

Here are the ISY programs: Heartbeat Check Var Control Server - [iD 028D][Parent 028C] If $HEARTBEAT_SERVER is 9 Then $HEARTBEAT_SERVER = 0 Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Heartbeat Var Control Server Not Running - [iD 028E][Parent 028C] If Time is Last Run Time for 'Heartbeat Check Var Control Server' + 6 minutes And From 4:15:00AM To 3:55:00AM (next day) Then $HEARTBEAT_SERVER += 1 Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Server Missed Two Heartbeats - [iD 028F][Parent 028C] If $HEARTBEAT_SERVER is 2 Then Send Notification to 'Brent' content 'Heartbeat Missed Server' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') VBS Script: Set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") 'Set http = CreateObject("MSXML2.serverXMLHTTP") 'Set http = CreateObject("MSXML2.XMLHTTP") Set http = CreateObject("Microsoft.XmlHttp") URL ="http://ISYIP:ISYPort/rest/vars/set/2/72/9" ' If auth is required, replace the userName and password values ' with the ones you use on your ISY userName = "ISY Username" password = "ISY Password" http.open "GET", url, false, userName, password http.send Set userName = Nothing Set password = Nothing Set myFSO = Nothing set WshShell = nothing set http = nothing set objXmlDoc = Nothing Eventghost just runs that script every 5 mins.

I have Windows set a variable on the ISY every five minutes using a vbs script and using Task Scheduler. Then I check that variable on the ISY and if it does not change every ten minutes I send out an email and text from the ISY. If it misses 3 heartbeats the program on the ISY tells Eventghost to try and reboot it. I use Blue Iris for the cameras on the Windows 10 PC and I also have the PC reboot itself everyday at 4 am. After the latest Windows 10 updates the tasks in Task Scheduler would randomly stop working so I moved the vbs script to Eventghost.

Some Echo connected home voice commands suddenly not recognized...

I did notice last night that the OK came much faster like it used to. I have not tried any of the words that stopped working yet. -
Some Echo connected home voice commands suddenly not recognized...

So, with this info I put skip commercials in as skipcommercials and it works! Then things got weird. I started using this technique on other devices that stopped working with the latest update. I changed fast forward, elk voice, disarm house password .........., fox news, fox sports, etc.... and skipcommercials stopped working! I put them all back with the exception of skipcommercials and fastforward and it works again. None of the ones I changed contained skip or commercials either. If I get a chance I will go back one by one and figured out the culprit. Edit: Well, now I do not think it was changing the other devices. I think when you add the two words together you have to say them quickly for it work. -

Thanks! Works here too. I can use this as a workaround for now. -

Same here. Skip does not work anymore and quite a few others. Had to change to IFTTT for that command but the delay is awful now. I tried "turn on jump commercials" and "turn on bypass commercials" too and they don't work either. Frustrating. I assume the Hue emulator would also have this issue as well. I might try firing it back up just to check. I also had issues with discovering last night, Alexa would say found one device or even no devices but the webpage showed them all. -
Alexa, turn on good night has been working for me since the beginning. Maybe use two words?

Barry, that is great for older devices, but for newer ones with ip control it doesn't really have an advantage does it? I have been very close to purchasing an IR solution several times but could never get past where to mount the IR transmitter and I use the native RF for the Directv DVRs too. I can currently control most of my devices through ip control with the ISY. Bravia TV, Denon Receiver, WD TV Live, Directv DVRs, Android TV, ip cameras, etc... I think ip control to press a button six times in a row might even be faster than IR but I do not know that for sure. Alexa, turn on skip commercials is the most used command I have! The Sony TV did give me issues with authentication from the ISY but I was able to work around it with Eventghost. Hopefully they can fix that at some point. I just bought an Ecobee3 thermostat and I am able to completely control it via IFTTT with the ISY which is very nice. IFTTT is quickly becoming a game changer for me with all the things they have added, just like the Echo did. I can even start our vehicle with the Remote Link app on my Android via IFTTT and Tasker. Very cool to be able to tell Alexa to start the car. Yes, it's cloud but already in the cloud with the Echo anyway.

I am seeing the same, the emulator is definitely faster, but the connected home understands more commands. I never got "close the garage door" to work with the emulator but with connected home it works great. Also, TV would not work with the emulator, but with connected home it works every time. I did not play with the skill much, but telling Izzy to do everything was annoying. I still use the emulator for about 35 things that I haven't created duplicate programs for but eventually I might move away totally just to keep it simpler. I guess with connected home, there is no reason for the skill in my mind.

E Es Pee N works too if you don't want to say TV at the end. She also has issues with exit, so I use clear. Channel up and down does not work either, so I had to use page up and down. I was using Ay Bee See but connected home seems to have solved that one.

Same issue for me with Chrome in Windows 10. IE seems better. Edit: IE has the same issue.

Both chandelier and nook are working for me. I have two devices with those names in them. Entry Chandelier and Breakfast Nook Light. This is exactly what I have been waiting for! I can finally say "Alexa, close the garage door!" I will have to continue to run the emulator as well since connected home will not allow one program/device/scene to be called using multiple spoken names like the emulator can. I could make multiple programs for one function I guess but this would not work with devices or scenes. Barry Gordon, Can you make a GUI interface for all of this? Just kidding but not really, really appreciate all your help with the emulator front end. I am having issues with Chrome and listing over 10 devices in the portal under Amazon Echo tool. It gets stuck at the top and I cannot scroll up. Michael, Can this issue be looked into? Will multiple spoken names for one device/program eventually be supported? Thanks
