There a physical daughter card that must be purchased and installed, Tools, Purchase Modules. Also see: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Z-Wave:_Ordering/Assembly_Instructions

Yes, you certainly can add a Z-Wave module to the ISY 994i. I did primarily for the same reason, to add Z-Wave locks. I chose Schlage as I was replacing existing non-automated Schlage locks and kept the same keys. I also liked the style.

If your UI and firmware are not identical, you will most likely run into the unexpected, if not now, then at some time.

Of course they recognized when there was none (to be counted). The concern was about mathematical proof. Mathematics was in it's infancy and everything needed a reproducible proof. Even in arithmetic, zero did not exist. Neither adding nor subtracting zero made no difference and, at the time. multiplying or dividing by zero made no sense. It just wasn't done. Even in modern mathematics, we differentiate between nothing and zero. For example, there is nothing between these brackets [ ]. That's not the case here [ 1, 2 ] nor here [ 0, 1 ] nor even here [0, 0]. Each set contains two elements. More trivia: LISP introduced beginning with 0 instead of the traditional 1 in programming.

IMO, anything greater than 0% should show as on. In fact, anything greater than 0% is not subject to an opinion at all wrt/on or off. Interesting fact: Around the time of Socrates, zero (0) did not exist or at least it was debated. The logic was, how can you show/prove the existence of nothing

A device does not turn on its links when remotely controlled by another device. To do do can result in an infinite loop. Add both the stairway light and the other lamp as responders to the scene that has the motion sensor as a controller.
-
Some devices age and produce a bit more line noise as they do.
-
Try exposing the scene as a light instead of a scene.

What's the load? CFL and LED bulbs tend to not ramp up smoothly. Some of my LED bulbs use a 2 or even a 4 minute ramp rate. Also, what's the starting/ending brightness level. The ramp rate is based on from full off to full on. A 4s ramp rate will go from 0 to 50% in 2s.
-
That can happen with low batteries, too.
-
Are you using the paddle or a scene when that happens? What's the ramp rates (in the scene and locally)?
-
Unless you don't mind a delay and don't have a specific condition, then it's best to use only scenes and not a program at all. Add all the devices you want to control as responders and one button as a controlller. That's it. BTW, an ISY controller is also a responder. A reason for having the other devices as responders is that then they can be controlllers for other scenes is and as needed. A button or paddle can be a controller for one and only one scene, but can respond to hundreds.

Oops, sorry. I did mean to address the OP.

What specifically doesn't run as intended. I've been able to use either an On or an Off (my choice) to turn other devices either On or Off. So yes, I can turn devices on using an Off signal or even off using an On signal. Clearly something has to occur to turn something on or off, be it a button or paddle press, change of state of a device or variable or a schedule.
-
Yes, of course there is. But you indicated that you did not want a controller. I have several All Off scenes and/or programs, but each has a dedicated button as a controller to turn the scene off as needed. I even have a program that illuminates a KPL button if any one or more of several lights are/is on. One tap extinguishes all lit loads
-
If you do that, then you'll never be able to keep a light on. If the light is ever turned on, then the program will turn it off.
-
If you do not have a lot of links (show PLM links table), say 500 or less, then the quickest result is to use a scene with all the devices as responders with an On-level of Off. But, how will you turn the scene off without a controller? If you do have lots of links, then it's best to use a program which doesn't use links. A scene will turn off all devices concurrently, a program will turn them of sequentially.

Info only: That'll work only with the smartphone app. Selecting a specific Echo device is not available from the computer app.
-
Other than availability, is there any particular reason you want 2nd gen Alexas? I have a mix of both, but no one can tell
-
Asbril, you have and have always had my utmost respect. Even your technical ability surpasses most

Insteon keypads do not introduce a noticeable delay when turning on a light. In fact, they're among the fastest of responders. The only possible way to get a faster reaction is to use a standard switch. Using a program instead of a scene can and will cause a delay no matter witch controller is used.

We live in a free country in order to have some, but not every choice. We are not free to break laws or inflict physical harm to others without just cause nor to take what someone legitimately owns as our own. We are free to make incorrect decisions regarding ourselves and our lives, but not someone else's. Be careful how you interpret a "free country."

There are several examples, I was referring to the OP. I should have been clearer.
