  1. An update on this issue from UDY support. The work around above works well so problem solved. It would be great if Insteon corrected the problem at some point in time. Per Chris Jahn:
  2. Michel emailed me, he is looking into this issue. I'll update the thread once resolved.
  3. I'm in slightly unfamiliar territory with the event syntax too. I think the following line indicates that the ioLinc is reporting to ISY that the sensor is OFF. (the ISY interface reports that the sensor is ON) Sat 11/28/2020 13:48:07 : [ 53 43 AA 1] ST 0 (uom=100 prec=0) It would be really helpful if someone that was familiar with the syntax could confirm what's going on. @Michel Kohanim ? Anyone ? I don't believe so in my case, the signal appears to be quite reliable throughout the house and garage. Many thanks, Wayne
  4. Brian H / oberkc, It appears that ISY is not updating the sensor status. The events below represent a KPL button press to open the garage door. When I query the sensor manually from the interface the status changes to OFF as per the ioLinc actual status. The same happens when the door is closed, status is not updated. Is that how you see it? Anyway I made a program to query the ioLinc and that appears to update ISY to the correct status for both the sensor and the relay. Now the relay shows OFF when the door is down and up which I think is correct, and the status in ISY is also correct. 5. This morning I checked it and the kpl button was off and the door worked on first press. The 3am query didn’t seem to affect it. Will keep an eye on things over the next few weeks. On to the Mobilinc issue. Thanks.
  6. The KPL Button toggle mode is set to: Non-Toggle[ON] Here are the settings, yes it's set to trigger reverse.
  7. Sometimes pictures help. The garage door is in the down (closed) position when I took these screen shots and photo. The relay I'm referring to the ioLinc relay. Don't worry about the magnetic switch, it is what it is and I'm not changing it. I just want to make sure I have everything set up correctly. After that I'll attempt to diagnose the problem with Mobilinc. Thanks.
  8. Thanks Brian and Oberkc, So yes I have the new sensor and the old one is finished. Do you mean here that the light on the KPL button should be ON or the state of the button? because the light is off when the door is down and on when the door is up. This seems to be as desired and the keypadlinc is working correctly as far as I can tell. I guess there are 2 main questions I have. 1) Since the relay is in the ON state when the door is down presumably being powered to keep the relay ON could it cause the relay to fail prematurely. I could be thinking about this all wrong but I would have thought that the ideal state for a garage door relay would be OFF when the door is down. Perhaps with the ioLinc is doesn’t matter. 2) The other little problem I have is with the MobiLinc app. I have it partially working I just can’t get the buttons on the MobiLinc dashboard to update correctly. The garage door works but I can’t get the app to update the buttons.
  9. I just upgraded from 4.8.0 to 5.3.0 and I noticed the scene programs needed fixing which I did. The thing I can't figure out is why the Insteon Motion sensors stopped turning on the Switchlincs. Actually they worked until I manually turned off the Switchlinc then they stopped functioning. I see events in the viewer but I'm a little rusty interpreting the code. Here are the messages after triggering one of the detectors. It should have turned on the light. 10. Its linked to a keypadlink button via two scenes as per the wiki set up. The KPL light is on when the door is up and off when down. I also want to set it up in Mobilinc HD, but not right now. For some reason I thought the old ioLinc light was off when the door was down but I could be wrong. Does it really matter?
  11. I just replaced my old dead Insteon garage door opening kit with a new one. I read through many of the previous posts on the topic including my own from 2010 but couldn't find an answer to this question. Should the ioLinc LED be on or off when the door is down? Currently the LED is on when the door is down and off when up. Thanks.
  12. Changing the wire from green to red fixed that, now the light on the IO Linc is ON when the door is open etc. After changing the wires from green to red the other change I had to make was to uncheck 'TriggerReverse' in the relay options box in ISY. As a result of changing the wires around the light on the KPL was reversed so I had to change that option to correct the problem. Teken, thanks again for the visuals, it did make all the difference. Some of us think in different ways Appreciate all the responses. Merry Christmas folks...
  13. Okay its working the way it use to work. I wired it directly into the garage door motor unit as per Teken's example above and everything appears to function. The only thing that is working differently to what Teken described is that the light is ON when the door is closed and OFF when the door is open. It makes sense to have it work the other way, for the light to be ON when the door is open etc. I'm not sure what I've done differently. I did use the green wire from the magnetic switch, should I have used the red one? Thanks.
  14. Thanks for these replies. I'm away at the moment but will get back to it on my return.
  15. Actually I have a spare remote so this is probably the way to go. Prior to this change I used a single KPL button to operate the door with the light indicating that the door was open. Could I still use it in the same way?
  16. It's a different garage door opener and wall switch, everything is new. The only original components are the Keypadlinc and Insteon garage door kit. The brand of the opener is Liftmaster elite 8500 sidemount. If you can point me to the online instructions that would be very helpful and if I have any more questions I'll post again here. Thanks.
  17. I've just had a new garage door/motor installed and have to connect the Insteon controller/keypadlinc to the new door motor. I've forgotten how to connect the wires from the magnetic switch and the I/O Linc to the motor and the links to the documents seem to be broken on the ISY Wiki. I recall there being some issue as to whether to connect the green or red wire from the magnetic switch. Should it be NO or NC and what is the difference. Unfortunately I can't find any of the step by step document that use to be searchable on this forum. Any help appreciates. Thanks.
  18. I'll be doing just that. This garage is not in use all the time though, just storing some equipment and I alone use it.
  19. Everything still working this morning, must have been connected to extreme cold temps. The iolinc has been installed in unheated garage for around 5 years without this type of issue. Thanks again for your help.
  20. Yep I'm aware of that, thanks. Not blaming Insteon for this at all, just trying to find where the problem is. Teken: So I have it all rewired into the heated workshop, warmed up the iolinc and its working again. Will know more tomorrow morning.
  21. It's not a spare iolinc but I could use it temporarily for testing. I was wondering whether the cat5 could be used to extend the garage door wiring into the workshop. Its a little thinner though.
  22. Do you think cat5 cable would work.
  23. It's around minus 10C at the moment. I do have another iolinc but the solution would be to put it in a heated space, it still might continue to fail but at least I might get some more time out of it.
  24. Yep, I'm thinking a combination of temps and failing device. I don't believe its a COM issue but I'm not ruling anything out as yet. Next to the garage is my heated workshop, not a huge distance. I'm going to try your suggestion and if it works I'll simply mount it in the workshop.
  25. Pressing the little 'Set' button doesn't seem to do anything apart from causing the little bluish LED to flicker.
