  1. Thanks Eric, after reading that very nice explanation by Darrell Peters I was able to come up with the following 4 programs but was wondering whether it could be made more efficient. There are no schedules for this program, its runs 24/7. Thanks, Wayne - This program turns on the light if the MS detects motion. [Mirror Light On] If Program 'Mirror Light Motion Disable' is False And Status 'Ensuite MS - Sensor' is On And Status 'Ensuite SL - Mirror Light' is Off Then Set 'Ensuite SL - Mirror Light' On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') - This program turns the light off when the MS turns off [Mirror Light Off] If Program 'Mirror Light Motion Disable' is False And Status 'Ensuite MS - Sensor' is Off Then Set 'Ensuite SL - Mirror Light' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') - The program below holds a value of either true or false depending on whether the switchlink has been operated manually. [Mirror Light Motion Disable] If ( Control 'Ensuite SL - Mirror Light' is switched On Or Control 'Ensuite SL - Mirror Light' is switched Fast On Or Control 'Ensuite SL - Mirror Light' is switched Fast Off Or Control 'Ensuite SL - Mirror Light' is switched Off ) Then - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') - Here we set the [Mirror Light Motion Disable] program back to false when the motion sensor turns off. [Check Motion Status] If Control 'Ensuite MS - Sensor' is switched Off Then Run Program 'Mirror Light Motion Disable' (If) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')
  2. Hi, I have a motion sensor that controls a switchlink via a program (its very simple). I then need to be able to allow the switch to be controlled manually if a person hits the 'On' paddle while the MS program is running, the light should then stay on and not turn off when the motion sensor times out. This must be a common real life scenario so there must be a programmatical solution for it but I'm all out of ideas for now. help appreciaed, thanks. Wayne.
  3. Hi Michel, Its probably a hard one to track down, but I'll keep posting you info if anything more relevant comes up. One thing to note is that it doesn't happen all the time, only every 5 to 10 logins. If this changes I'll le you know. Thanks, Wayne
  4. Hi Michel, See the five steps I wrote in previous msg for the exact sequence. Yes as soon as I log into ISY (enter user name and password then press OK) I get the 'Request failed' error and another blank log in screen. So I have to log in twice, the second time there is no 'Request failed' error. Thanks, Wayne ps. No network magic software installed.
  5. I get this 'Invalid request' and double login in about 1 in 5 logins. So this is how it happens: 1) Start ISY via http://192.168.0.xxx/admin 2) Login screen pops up and filled in --> Click OK 2) Login screen pops up again and then 'Request failed' box pops up. 3) Click the Ok button on the error msg before proceeding 4) Enter login info again 5 Everything ok from here. Regards, Wayne
  6. Restoring the lamplink device fixed the problems. Thanks, Wayne
  7. Hi, I've created a scene containing a single 'LampLink' device, attached is a lamp. The attributes are set to 60 (on level) and 19s (ramp rate) for the device within the scene. The problem is that the lamp turns on to full straight away but does ramp down when turning off. I'd appreciate it if someone could point out the error or advise a way to correct the problem. I have also created 3 programs as follows: [bedroom Night Light On] If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Set Scene 'Bedroom Night Light' Fade Up Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') [bedroom Night Light Off] If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Set Scene 'Bedroom Night Light' Fade Down Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') [Motion Night Light - Main Bedroom] If From Sunset - 1 hours For 15 hours And Status '0A.43.15-Sensor' is On Then Run Program 'Bedroom Night Light On' (Then Path) Wait 2 minute Run Program 'Bedroom Night Light Off' (Then Path) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Many thanks, Wayne

Hello, I was able to put the following IP into the address box of Internet explorer and then drag the shortcut down to the desktop for easy access. Before this I was opening ISY via My Lighting (enter password) and then the Admin and enter password again. By using the URL below it seem to cut out a step. Of course you will have to replace the IP address with the IP your ISY is connected too. http://192.168.0.102/admin Regards, Wayne
  9. Thanks for sheding some light on that enigma. Many thanks, Wayne
  10. I was getting this all the time. It seem to help when the motion sensor was placed very close to one of the access points while programming.
  11. When programing an 'action' the program provides 8 options, the first 3 being: Run (If) Run Then Run Else I'm trying to work out what the difference is between the three. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Wayne
  12. Thank you both, I think the penny has finally dropped. If I have this correct, generally speaking ISY should remain compatible with Insteon products and the developers are committed to maintaining that compatibility with the beta upgrades and new releases. ISY software development for other manufacturers are on top of that. Thank you for your patience, sometimes simple things like this are not obvious to the novice. Best, Wayne
  13. Hi Steve, Firstly, my position is very simple, I'm a perspective buyer of the product and want to know what future costs I will be up for if I purchased ISY99IR. Initially I was under the impression that all upgrades for the product were included. Then I found there were charges for a few additional modules and then I see the manufacture is creating the ability to purchase more modules within the software in the latest version. I just want to know what I will and wont be charged for in future. The Smarthomes example was only an example. What about products from this company www.simplehomenet.com, are they automatically compatible or is a module necessary? Thanks, Wayne
  14. Hello Michel, I just need to get some further clarification regarding charging for modules. Is it your policy to create modules and charge for them for ALL new Insteon hardware released from any vender? i.e say Smarthome came out with a new type of switch, would we be required to buy a module for that? Can you please clarify what your policy is for making a seperate module as opposed to including NEW hardware functionality into the free upgrades. Thank you, Wayne
  15. Hello Michel, These are two pieces of the equation that i'm currently looking into. I've read a rather long thread at the SH forum about the touch screens and the IES web site said they are integrating their product with ISY and I read on this site that you are developing new functionality to interact with the screen. Do you have a time frame for the release and will their be a further charge? Regarding the IR trasmit functionality, I read that you have developed the electronics and are near beta but you also mention that SH might be coming out with a solution. Can you please clarify the status of all this. Also, I will be purchasing the ISY99iIRPro version of your product, have you got any idea of the upgrade cost for the additional hardware. As you can imagine this is the sort of information that is essential for making purchasing decisions so please excuse me if it seems I'm being very direct with questions. Thanks, Wayne
  16. Michel, Please dont get me wrong, I dont have anything against you making money for your hard work (and very good support), it was more that I was under the distinct impression that there was full 2 way communication (Elk events visible in ISY) when there wasn't. Having said that you have clarified that I can still achieve what I wanted until the other module is released which would make it all much more convienient to have everything available in ISY . Do you have a timeframe for this module? Thanks again, Wayne
  17. Hi Michel, Thank you for the response, answerd alot of my questions. I'm just about to folk out just over $500 (in Canada) for your ISY product alone and was initially under the impression there was full 2 way integration with ELK. It appears thats not the case and the functionailty I want is not yet developed and will cost more at a later stage. I find this a little frustrating because in my opinion its something that should be part of the basic system. I was told by the retailers that all software updates would be included but it appears you are now creating modules which you obviously do not class as an update. I could certainly understand a module for a different security product other than ELK but not for functionality that provides a feature that should have been there in the first place. Can you give me some indication of the cost for this additional module? Do you plan on creating more chargable modules for the ELK/ISY/Insteon combination in the future. Thanks, Wayne
  18. Hi, I've read as much as I could about this combination of hardware but must admit I'm still a little confused about the the real necessity of ISY. If ELK can perform automation why would I also need ISY, can someone give me a few clear examples of something only ISY/ELK could achieve. From my basic understanding of the system, the user creates the automation in ISY and then uploads it into ELK and from then on ISY ensures ELK remains up to date with the status of all the hardware. So I'm unclear of which part of the system actually controls the lighting and other hardware etc. Besides the main alarm activate/deactivate functions are there any other ELK functions or status settings available to ISY to be used in conjunction with the automation part of the combo. Is integration development between ELK and ISY an active and ongoing process or is this it? I dont just refer to compatibility upgrades but new features etc. Thanks, Wayne

    ISY and ELK

I'm considering the purchase of the ISY/ELK/Insteon security and home automation system. I dont yet have a good understanding of the extent to which ISY and ELK integrate well together. Could someone that knows enough about this combo list the known deficiencies and problems (if any) that they have discovered. Also, anything I need to think about before buying the ISY system. I plan on adding the ELK system within the next 12 months after I have some of the home automation up and running. Thank you, Wayne
