Yes the door operates perfectly using the Craftsman door opener and no longer works using the Insteon Keypadlinc button.

Tested from keypadlinc this morning and the problem has returned, wondering whether it was cold or something to do with "Trigger Reverse' option and 3am QueryALL. Neither of which have been a problem for years now. Stu, thank you for the clarification. The 'Reverse Trigger' option is active in my current set up and up until now I've had no problem with the 'Query All' program. I'll keep an eye on it though.
-
I guess as a lay person it doesn't really make sense to me at the moment because it's hooked up to a n/o terminal. I would have though that the sensor should be on a n/c terminal given that the door and sensor are normally closed. However I'm not going to mess with in right now, come warmer months I may look at it again just to get a fresh understanding about how it all works. I used to know how it all worked but because I rarely have to work with it the knowledge gets lost lol. Thanks.
-
Thanks for everyones help with this. Taken, mine is one of the older iolinc's with both the n/c and n/o options. Currently the sensor is connected to the n/o terminal. Just thinking about it wouldn't it be more appropriate if connected to n/c because the door is closed most of the time.

Believe it or not yes, its again working perfectly. I'll have to wait until it's had some time to get really cold again to know for sure but it could have been a wiring issue I guess but all the wires were in place and tight. I just took them out and put them back in a tightened up again. One thing I find confusing is the status of the sensor and door in ISY admin. When the door is closed the sensor says 'off' and the relay says 'On' but my documentation says that these should be the other way around. I physically checked the little green sensor light on the iolinc and its ON so the sensor should be ON in ISY admin shouldn't it? I'm almost sure if I query it using admin it will read ON but I don't want to touch it now that it is working again. Here is the event log for full up and down of garage door using the keypadlinc. I just performed two test, first from a socket inside the house near the PLM, secondly the iolinc plugged into the garage door electrical socket. I shorted the sensor and ground and then turned the relay on and off using the ISY admin console for each test. It appears to be working but I'm not 100% sure of what I'm looking at. I'm now going to wire it back into the garage door and check all the connections. BTW: the garage door works perfectly using the standard garage door remote and wired wall button. I'm pretty sure its set to Non-Toggle On Mode, as per instructions on wiki. I'm out at the moment, will be back in about an hour or so and will do as Taken suggests, take it inside and warm it up and test.

Hi Stu, Had a chance this morning to observe the little bluish LED next too the SET button. Using Mobilinc I pressed the relay button and the light flashed every time, however the door didn't always respond. At first there was no clicking and the door still operated every second or so presses, then I heard some clicking when pressing the relay button and the door stopped functioning. No matter how many times I pressed the button the door didn't go down, it required me to used the standard garage door controls. This was the same behavior that happened last night. Now it will begin to work again every second or so presses. I'm wonder whether the cold temperatures have caused a problem with the iolinc. The problem started pretty much at the same time that the temps got low.
-
I reset and restored the iolinc. It`s about minus 14 Celsius in the garage at the moment so I`m giving up for the evening. Using Mobilinc I was able to listen for the iolinc while activating the door. At times I`d press the button and hear the iolinc but the door didn`t open and other times I wouldn`t hear anything after pressing the button. Yet at other times It would work correctly. Tomorrow I`ll take another look, can anyone recommend and specific test to determine where the problem lies. Thanks.
-
Is it possible that some problem developed with the iolinc device.

I have one of the older garage door opener kits and its been working okay up until last few days. Haven't made any electrical changes recently. It`s linked to a keypadlinc button and works intermittently and sometimes not at all, this applies to both open and close operations. If I use the regular garage door opener to operate the door everything appears to get updated status and the keypadlinc light comes on and off correctly. All my other equipment appears to be working fine. Here are the results from the event viewer after pressing the keypadlinc button once where the garage door didn't respond and the keypadlinc light stayed off. Hence my frustration. The other piece of info that might help is that I was able to link the Remotelincs directly to Lamplincs. Both worked without issue.
-
Are you saying that there could be a problem with 4.0.5 and remotelincs? I have no ZWave devices and thats pretty much why I haven't bothered to update to release candidates. I can update if you believe that would help but I'm not really interested in updating for the sake of it as that has the potential to compound a problem when we know that these devices have worked on 4.0.5 before. All the other wireless devices updated instantly without any issues. Thanks for you help Lee.
-
>Originally 0A.35.31 would not add to the ISY As I said, this partial success has happened before. That's how the second RL got there, but it wont write updates. Yes the RL was put into linking mode before *Adding* it as a new device. After attempting to add it the result is what you see in that image I just posted. If I then put it into linking mode again and attempt to write those updates to device it fails again. The ISY and UI are at 4.0.5 which as far as I know is the latest official version. The remotelincs have previously worked on that version.
-
ISY Firmware is 4.0.5 New PLM is 2413S The second device has the same issue as described in previous post.
-
I just checked, yes they are.
-
Here are the results after ensuring that I did as you suggested i.e put in linking mode - added - taken out of linking mode etc Now this has happened before where the device is entered into ISY BUT there is still some info not written to device according to event viewer. You can also see the red exclamation marks in device tree.
-
So firstly I replaced the batteries in both remotes then placed a remotelinc right next to the new PLM and selected 'Add new Insteon Device' and chose Remotelinc 2440. Result: Then with the second remotelinc I attempted to 'Write updates to device' by clicking on the small grey 1011 icons in the device tree and got the following result:

My PLM died for the 3rd time and I replaced it with a new one. Everything is back up and restored except for the two RemoteLincs (2440) which seem to be giving me endless problems. Did all the other wireless devices without any issues at all by clicking 'Write updates to device' after entering linking mode for each device. So with the RemoteLincs I put one of them into linking mode by holding down the 'Bright' and 'Dim' buttons until it began flashing and tried to write the updates but got a message 'cannot determine insteon engine' or something similar. Tried this numerous time but no joy. Tried the second remote but received the same error. I then deleted the remotelinc from ISY and attempted to add it again and continued to get the same error. Reset the remotelinc, still the same problem. Anyone have any ideas on why this is so difficult. Best way forward? Thanks.

Thanks Michel.

Will this Java issue have any effect on the ISY users? (have no idea just wondering after reading this article at Slashdot.) http://developers.slashdot.org/story/13 ... se-of-java Thanks, Wayne

Hi, I want to control a Micro Open/Close module using a Mini Remote. I can't do it directly because I need to introduce some time delay logic which I was hoping to do in using a program. I can currently do this using a RemoteLinc but I want to know whether that same functionality is possible with a Mini Remote. Thanks. http://www.smarthome.com/2342-242/INSTEON-Mini-Remote-Switch/p.aspx

Hi Lee, There was no intentional/accidental human initiated factory reset for sure. I've been through something similar with a previous version of the switchlincs (some years ago) and Smarthomes replace them all because they found some bug in the switchlinc that caused the problem but this is the newer version that they replaced it with so unless something has happened to it then it should be okay. I'll keep an eye on it but after 6 years I'm almost about to pull the plug in Insteon, it appears that its just not ever going to be stable enough for my nervous system to handle. The only thing is I'm not sure what can replace it, if anything. Many thanks for your help, Wayne
