Hi, I am trying to read as much as I can about the new eisy hardware. (I am currently using a ISY994/IR Pro ZW. If I read correctly the eisy does no support incoming IR. Can I assume it can still do outgoing IR via Global Cache via Network settings. This is what I do now on the ISY994. I have a Global Cache IR unit in every room. I like others use a Harmony Hub for entertainment devices. My led light systems are mostly controlled via Amazon Alexa with some routines. Hopefully that stuff can be moved to the new EISY. I received the new EISY prior to xmas but have yet to open in. I ordered some other modules and those are still in the box. But since reading about the lack of IR support this is of concern to me. Can I assume the lack of IR support is due to these supplies issues. If supply issues were not something that affected all manufacturer then maybe it would have been included? So is there a possibility that IR support could be added down the road if these parts became available. I should say I still am not sure how backyard this is going to affect my current setup and if I could do a workaround. As I said before because of healthcare issues the time I can devote to this upgrade is going to be limited. I'm probably going to ask for support. Thanks! Rob Sent from my SM-G975U1 using Tapatalk

Hi, I put out this request about two years ago. But Covid hit. And I had health issues not related to Covid. So I am feeling tons better now that I started Dialysis. I also have 'Back-Issues' which prevent me from standing too long before the pain is unbearable. But I still need some In-Home support. I am looking for someone to come to my home and fix what I broke when moving to a new ISY controller when I upgraded from 4.x to 5.x I have all the programs but some are no longer functioning. I don't have the enough gumption to fix it this time. Most of these issues are pretty minor I'm sure. Example: I need to switch from wireless Motion Sensors to the newer USB powered Motion Sensors. (I have a box of these waiting to replace the older ones) So if anyone is in the NYC area and is interested in helping me (and I would be more than willing to pay). I actually live in Astoria Queens. Between the Tri-Boro (aka RFK) Bridge and the 59th Street (aka Ed Koch) Bridge on 21st Street. I figure two trips. Maybe just one. First trip is to show you exactly what I need. Which would take less than an hour. The second to perform the work. Which should take less than 4 hours unless you run into a trouble. Name a reasonable price. Thank you! Rob PS I would be even willing to ugrade to the new Poly system. If that is something interesting to you let me know so I can have the new box ordered and at my home before you arrive.

Hi all, I wanted to post this months ago. I finally made the switch to version 5.x about a year ago. I thought everything went fine but slowly discovered that a ton of stuff was no longer working correctly. I tried to handle one thing at a time but I just can't seem to get my head wrapped around everything. At this point I think the best thing to do is hire someone to have them fix my stuff. I need for my ISY units either wall plugs or wall dimmers. Especially having a major issue with several 8 key wall units. Model: 2486 I also have one I/O unit. And I ordered all new Motion Sensors and also got the dedicated power cabling for them. I need to get most of my programs back to working. Some of them work just fine anothers don't. I think it has to do with version 5.x not seeing or communicating with the modules. I'm not looking for a completely new rebuild. I have kept things pretty simple here. So is there a qualified local Inteon/ISY technican in the NYC area? I live in Astoria Queens. If this isn't the proper place to reach out let me know. Thank you! Rob

ISY not exporting to Alexa or Alexa not importing?
rlanza1054 replied to rlanza1054's topic in Amazon Echo
Thanks that's what it was. I saw the old isy ID in the users tab but of course the new isy id is different and did show up in the isy tab. I just changed the settings to look at all isy's instead of the preferred that way I don't have to worry about this anymore. I did delete the old isy after I copied all my entries. I have to check now to see if Alexa got all the entries. I went to the Alexa smart homes devices and deleted eveerything and re-run the Discover devices. I'm waiting to see if things are fine now, -
Hi, I've been switching to a new ISY box with version 5.x. I copied all my older commands from the old ISY in the portal to the new ISY then I deleted the old ISY. There is only one ISY presently in my portal. I did end up manually entering all my entries. But now I noticed that Alexa is not showing them in the list after doing a Discover. Any ideas Thanks Rob Sent from my SM-G975U1 using Tapatalk

IR is not working on my new ISY?
rlanza1054 replied to rlanza1054's topic in New user? Having trouble? Start here
oh I'm sorry guys I guess I should update that. It was a long time ago. I'll redo it later tonight and shorten it up. I figured out the problem with the IR. Seems all my scenes stop working or responding. So just pulling out the device and adding it back into the scene fixed it. I just have to go through everything. Rob -
Hi, I switched to a new ISY unit to be able to uograde to version 5.x. The upgrade went ok as far as I know but I can't seem to get the IR to response to signals I have sent from my remote control. Is there a reason why a brand new ISY unit would not work using IR? Is there a special module I need to get it to work even though I purchased the unit with the IR? Thank you! Rob

Hi, Is there a way to copy or duplicate Amazon entries to a new ISY on same account? I purchased a new ISY & PLM because I wanted to play it safe when upgrading from version 4.8 to 5.x. So instead of doing a basic upgrade. I got a new ISY that came with 5.x and then restored the new ISY from backup. That way if something went wrong I could quickly lug in my old ISY and it's PLM. Everything seemed to work at first my programs were missing but was able to do a copy and paste for my programs. The new ISY then updated the new PLM. However, I had forgotten to take into account the ISY Portal. I decided to add the new ISY to the same account as my old ISY and I paid for another subscription which I am OK with. So I have two ISY's listed in the Portal and it recognizes the version of software for each. But the issue is all the entries I added to the Amazon Echo (I forgot to look if I have Google or ITFFF stuff. There was a download option to a csv file. But I don't see way to upload that file to add those entries to the new ISY. Is there a way to add these entries automatically or am I stuck having to program those entries from scratch? Thank you! Rob

Time to Upgrade! But how? Best Method? Best Advise?
rlanza1054 replied to rlanza1054's topic in ISY994
Oh I should have stated that I did use the same account but added the new isy as a second device and I paid the ISY Portal Subscription again. I don't care that I did that. the reason I did it this way was so that if anything went wrong with upgrading to version 5.x I could just swap back in my old ISY. I even have a new plm to go with the new isy. Ok I guess I'll ask if they can copy the info over otherwise I need to program everything from scratch. Thanks Rob -

Hi all, Ok I finally got time to finish upgrading to version 5.x However, I ran into a few problems. The one thing I need help for is the ISY portal. I realized that being on a new isy box broke my isy portal settings and Amazon items I programmed. I downloaded the info via the download button. But there does seem to be a way to import that .csv file? Do I really have to sit and manually program that stuff in again? Because if I do I don't have that time tonight or within the next few days. So it means going back to my old isy just tohave things working again until I have a lot more time. Any ideas? Thanks Rob -

Well seems I am one not to give up to easily. I went to my programs in the old 4.8.0 ISY did a right click and saw what I had forgotten about. There is indeed an Export / Import of the Program files separate from the regular backup. I did an export. Then I re-opened the new ISY 5.3.1 and did an Import of the Program files and low-and-behold it all came in perfectly. Or so I think so. I cannot test anything just yet until new PLM. But this so far is going a lot easier than I thought it would. I should have done this months ago. Ok taking my break for tonight, Rob -

rlanza1054 replied to rlanza1054's topic in ISY994
Ok I am on version 5.3.1. I figured it was worth it to just try and load or import my 4.8.0 version backup. I did that and the password was reset which I was expecting it to do. Seems all of my devices are showing there. However, not one of my programs got transferred and I don't know why that happened? Is there a different backup for the program files? Ok since there is no PLM and today was just a sort of dry run I can work on the rest another day. I'll come back for help when I receive the new PLM. I'll give it a rest today. Thank you! Rob -

rlanza1054 replied to rlanza1054's topic in ISY994
I just finished upgrading to version 5.3.0. it is coming up in safe mode which is ok because I don't have the PLM installed on this unit. I just ordered a new PLM instead of using the old one. So some of this will have to wait a few more days. You said the latest version is 5.3.1? Is that the beta version do you recommend I upgrade to that version? Thanks! -

Oh yeah I left off that I have a ZW model. My real model number is: ISY994i ZW/IR Pro The new one says model ; ISY994i ZW+ IR Pro So does this contain the new ZW radio that I see mentioned. I'll post a screenshot when I can. I'm running a backup now. -

rlanza1054 replied to rlanza1054's topic in ISY994
Ok I think I've been had? I plugged in the new ISY connected it and logged in. The interface looks exactly the same? Have I missed something? It does say its version 5.0.3 which probably needs an upgrade to the latest version. I don't understand I was under the assumption that it was going to be a whole new interface. In some ways this is better it will make it easier to over to it. it is connected but without a PLM yet. So it can't really control anything. But I can at least play around with it. Thanks Rob -

rlanza1054 replied to rlanza1054's topic in ISY994
Whoops! Maybe my signature needs an update as well unless I misread the comment above. I already am running a ISY. I've had it running for some years now. I presently have an ISY994i IR/Pro running version 4.8.0 see screenshot. I purchased another (a second) ISY994i IR/Pro because the new units come with version 5.x already installed. I didn't care about spending the money. I felt Universal Devices deserves to make some money. With a new unit already on version 5 if I run into any issues I have my old version 4.8.0 unit ready to take over. However, I forgot to take into account the Insteon PLM. I thought I had a spare unit but it turns out to be a USB version. Model: 2413U. I'll order a new PLM model 2314s. I looked at my current version and it is version 1.2 0on the label. I'm not sure how import it is to use a brand new PLM or just swap my current (in use PLM). If the settings and links will be different with the new version 5.x of the ISY then it might be safe to work with a new unit. So my basic question is this: Can I import my version 4.8.0 settings into the new version 5.x ISY? Can I import my version4.8.0 Programs or do I have to write the programs from scratch? Yes, I probably will open a support ticket, but wanted to know if this is going to be a big headache for me. Ok I should at least open the box of the new ISY and maybe assign it a new different IP address so I can look at the new version 5 interface. Thanks all! Rob -
Hi all, This is long overdue! I have been wanting to upgrade my ISY994i IR/Pro running version 4.8.0 with Z-Wave 4.55 (bootloader 1.03) to the New and Shiny ISY994i IR /Pro 5 series! Most of the time 'normal person' would just follow some upgrade instructions. No this person, me, had to take a different road. I purchased a completely new ISY994i IR/Pro that hopefully already has 5 series of some such version. I purchased this almost a year ago. Then I had gotten sick (not with COVID-19) with a bad case of diverticulitis. I went through a couple of surgeries. Along the way had so bumps in the road. I finally was bad and then my last follow-up visit with the surgeon I took my brand new electric bike to the appointment and on the way home fell off this new bike. I fell and broke my right wrist and fractured my right hip. Needless to say I was in rehab for a time. Now I find out my hand wasn't set right and will have to have surgery again to straighten my hand out. And to add to that turns out nobody was paying attention to my right shoulder and hip. Seems my right hip is not healing. Anyway, I'm good but had to put off this ISY upgrade. I'm looking for some help to make this happen fast if possible . I never even opened the box with the new ISY. So are there easy methods to pulling in the old setup? The only real concern is the programs I made to run everything. I'm even willing to pay someone for there time to get me going. I should try myself at first at least give it try. So please tell me what are the first step to get this started? Thank you! Rob PS the reason for getting a new ISY. Well, Covid-19. I wanted to purchase something so it was a way of giving some money (its not a lot I know)

Well I don't think I've ever worked with variables. So I would need help and or examples. I know I can update my current ISY. However, my thinking is that I don't touch my current ISY and use it should I need to revert back to the old firmware fast! Also purchasing a new ISY puts a few dollars back to Universal Devices (and Michael) for all the work they have done! Rob

Hi all, I resisted posting this but had to give in. I hope it was not aswered already. I did search to see if it answered. I have noticed that a lot of people have issue with Sensors in general. Up until now I just had one Open/Close Door Sensor (or Window Sensor) and a few Motion Sensors. I have all of it working ok. I am getting a batteery low alert on the Open/Close Sensor even though it has a brand new battery. It might be caused by a daily Heartbeat instead of a real attery low. I have the Open Close sensor trigger a program to the I/O Linc Low Voltage (2450) to trigger an alert via a Doorbell I have that I can program one back door recording. So the Doorbell is announcing that the Door was just opened. I use it on my Front Door becuase I don't lock my front door. So if someone attempts to walk in I get aleerted. I also have a video door bell that has the motion sensor part of the door bell and that inteefaces with Alexa and I get an announcement with that if someone just walks near the video doorbell. I should point out that I live in an apartment building. There are only 4 apartments per floor. Anyway, I puchased two lInsteon Water/leak detectors. I am still on ISY 4.7.3 firmware. I had no issues getting the ISY to add and see the Leak Sensors. I read that some people can't even add them to their system. I don't have that probllem. What I need help in is with getting the ISY to send an alert to Amazon Alexa and possibliy make a routine to Announce a pre-programmed message. I read that the ISY can push specific vocabulary . But I don't really need that unless it is necessary. I just need a way to get some kind of message or error message that I can use to make a Routine via the Alexa using the Annoucement feature. I do use the announcement feature with other things but mostly as an alarm at a specific time. So does anyone know how to do this? Maybe you can write a sample program that I can follow to setup here. Right now this is what I have for one of my sensors: Leak Sensor Big Bath - [ID 00AE][Parent 00AD] If Status 'Bath Big Leak Sensor-Dry / Bath Big Leak Sensor-Wet' is Responding And Status 'Bath Big Leak Sensor-Dry' is not Responding Then Send Notification to 'Text Program Alerts' content 'Text Leak Sensor Bug Bath Wet' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') That only sends a text message. I actually haven't test this to see if its working correctly. Again is there a way to send something to Alexa? Thank you! Rob P.S. I still haven't gotten around to purchasing a new ISY so I can move to version 5.x firmware. I also need help in a problem with a 6 Button Wall Switch (I was an 8 Button originally). Its not taking the progamming for scenes to each button. But that is on hold. I want the Leak Sensor to work first. I also purchased a couple of wifi sensors that were supposed to work with Alexa but don't. I just purchased a product which is a leak sensor but needs a Hub to work. It's called a YoLink? I would rather just stay as much as possible in the Insteon world with my ISY. =

Attached is a picture of the bottom label of my ISY. I'm still interested in obtaining a new ISY with the new 5.x firmware rather than upgrading my existing ISY. I just need to know which one I should order. And if I order from Amazon can I assume I will get version 5.x firmware or should I order it directly from you. Universal Devices? Thanks Rob Sent from my SM-G975U1 using Tapatalk

Yeah go to Amazon a 20 foot one is $12 Rob

Hi, I have had this problem for more than a year and was too lazy to ask for help. I have a insteon wall dimmer and it gets triggered via two motion sensors. This is two hallway lights on the same Insteon wall dimmer switch. The reason for two motion sensors is that my hallway has some twists and turns. So there is a motion sensor near the hallway in the foyer. So as you walk into the hallway it turns on. The other motion sensor is near my bedroom so that the hallway lights go on when I come out of my bedroom. The two motion sensors are not in visible range of each other. When I first setup everything I had these hallway lights, I set them for 100% brightness. However, between the hours of 1am to 7am I would have the ramp rate set to 5 seconds and the brightness to only 20%. The dimmest it can go. It worked for a year or so. Then it stopped working. But I noticed that it was getting dim between 1pm - 7pm. When I realized what happened I checked the ISY and noticed that the clock was wrong. At least I think that was wrong. I also noticed that my program that triggers the dimming at night had an PM in the field it should have been AM. I fixed it thinking that would fix the problem. It did not. It still dims in the afternoon and not at night. I even disabled the program. And it still does it. I think I did reset the dimmer & motion sensors to defaults and reinstalled them. Still does it. So my question is this (and I haven't tried this yet) can the PLM itself be storing this info? Does the PLM itself have a clock chip inside. I wantes to set the PLM to factory defaults and then restore from backup. And do I even bother restoring from backup? Just the PLM? Thanks Rob

I'm actually looking for a way to get my Netvue VueBell to work with my old fashion mechanical doorbell (the version that goes ding dong). My mechanical doorbell is incorporated into my ISY System and my Talking Programmable Doorbell. So ring my doorbell using the mechanical button on the outside of the door triggers ofd the ding dong bell and also triggers the talking doorbell (which is meant as a replacement to the ding dong bell. And you can record your own door bell announcements). The pre-recorded announcements have a variety of stuff such as Christmas doorbell sounds. Joke doorbell sounds etc. I think I posted those sounds here a few years ago. All I'm looking for is for the Video Doorbell to trigger the mechanical doorbell I read that the Netvue Belle Doorbell comes with a Power/Bypass kit. I can't seem to find out wjere to purchase it without getting a whole new video doorbell. And for your info it is link via a skill with Amazom Echo/Alexa. On my Fire TV if I am watching that it can show a picture of who is at the door. If someone walks by but doesn't ring the bell I still get notified via motion sensor built-in. And I get it on my Echo Show unit. However, still have a problem at times getting the picture. I think because of poor wifi connection. I have a steel door. So I am notified via TV, Echo Show & Phone. But not the mechanical doorbell. That is separate now until I find a solution. Rob
