Hello I done some searches on this and found either it works or does not, my issues is a bit different with 32 devices about 80% work with echo, but 20% say device x is not responding, yesterday i redid complete portal and alexa deleting everything because i changed some switches around and portal kept old id and did not sync correctly with the isy with new id, all devices work from dash board and mobilinc, iv double checked portal all devices are listed and have spoken names, i checked alexa and deleated troubled devices and readded but no luck, any help would be great. Thanks guys for help, i think the first post answered it best while i may not have explained it properly, he addressed the fact that his program would not be triggered by a automatic timer, and still function with other switches being pressed, Thanks again to all who helped, great community.

Hi guys been here under a different user name since 2012 and don't ask or post much but I'm at a cross roads to make the most of my isy, as my kids get older and more lazy I'm finding a need to make programs that i think are a bit to complex for me but probably so simple for many. This post come from fact that my kids take showers and leave the fan on all day, which does draw a lot of power. so since everything in my home 42 devices and counting is insteon I wanted to write a program for several needs. To keep it simple i will have 2 switches to talk about and give each function 1. bathroom fan 2. shower light, my first program was at 600 am turn on shower light no one want to wake up to a bright light, and then turn off in 20 min when i leave, this works, next set a time for fan, once turned on stay on and turn off after 20 min once lazy kids leave, NOW what i would like to do is IF you turn on the shower light the fan will start automatically for 20 min, no problem, but id also like it to run for 20 min if someone turns it on locally in case someone has to do their business my biggest issue is how do i prevent the fan to turn on at 6am and 620 when it sees my shower light come on. if some one could post, message on how to write this program, would be helpful. If anyone is intreasted if making some money writing other programs for me Id be willing to pay via paypal just message me. I know everyone here is helpful but I don't want to trouble the forums constantly with program questions and would rather work privately with a member and pay for services, which I'm surprised udi has not come up with that idea maybe charging 3 to 5$ per more complex program, that is not unreasonable and probably help many out. Not only that but eventually people would get a general idea from those written programs and learn, reference those programs and learn, otherwise is there a book for dummies available? Something in lame mans terms, I'm a mechanic not software engineer even tho isy is pretty easy to use even for dummies I find the programming of which varibales to use and which order very French on more complex programs, Thank in advance.

The tech i spoke with from amazon said she personally has this product and had same issue at times where you just need to reboot. A computer brain ****, rather a code issue but a simle reboot fixes it, maybe i had a bad update idk but all i had to do was restart everyone. only had issue once where every dot went offline at same time. Had dot for 1.5 months only issues i had besides voice commands

I have 6 echos in house all 6 went off line at same time its a know issue to amazon, most of the time just restart them, tech I spoke with had same issue as well once restarted they should work fine. My internet worked fine with everything else except echo but again its a known issue, a simple restart should fix it.

Thank you both I live in Chicago a former udi tech support member came over once when I had 15 devices and set everything up (Rand) but I have a laundry list and don't feel like nagging on these great forums daily to set up soooo many scenes, which is why id be willing to pay to get it all done once and be done, there after I can follow working programs and modify if need be. its not just one set of programs each is uniquely different, id be with udi tech support for hours, or on forums for weeks, until my recent upgrade that brought me to 50+ devices, aside from the simple motion on turn this on or turn on at a certain time, my ideas are much bigger but I lack knowledge eg.. if it 8pm and motion 1 is triggered then motion 2, turn hallway lights to 50% but stay on as long as motion 2 sees motion and time out and turn lights off after 3 min if no motion is detected but if motion 2 is tirggered but not motion 1 then turn outside lights one for 2 min and disreguard motion 1 then off. See this is wayyyyyy to complex of a program for me to write so if either one of the advanced members want this task ill be happy to compensate you for your time. This is just one of many unique programs id like to have and Thank you for welcoming me back. Having a great forum, community and product, its just not made for the dummy, I searched barns and noble for "isy for dummies" didn't find a book there lol. Also back end work like grouping setting up folders etc, Id just rather pay a pro ..... I also have issues with led status and isy making programs run right but I'm sure its probably my coding.

Hey guys iv been with udi for about 6 years lost access to robandcathy, Iv recently upgraded my home to 40+ devices I want to expand my programining options but lack skills to make them run them. I willing to pay for anyone with a lot of expirence to set up my house i think initinal clean up would be 2 to 3 hours, not sure how long it would be to set up timers and fix other issues, id like limit my calls to udi (which last one was a year ago) for what that someone can set up. I'm capable of setting up simple stuff but variables etc gets confusing. I'm willing to pay vis paypal or any other secure method and let you rdp into my system using log me in, cytrix, go to my pc, etc... its been a great community, AND MOST OF ALL IM THANKFUL UDI INTREGRATED AMAZON ECHO, saves a lot of $ and give more interactivity vs just voice command, save time n energy and money. I personally think udi\echo is greatest advancement since I bought my first udi product years n years ago, I also love nest integrations wish kievo would work but still am happy that theromasts work. Thank You this is where my confusion lies, I thought I could control mor with ZigBee then just a thermostat, I'm not opposed to z-wave either, Ill do some more research, figured the kind folks here could have given me more insight quicker, but I guess its not a bad idea to learn. this daughter card will it interface with ZigBee or will I need a separate controller device? I'm not looking for a in wall outlet rather a outdoor module, or even a hi amp indoor one to run my pool pump. I have also seen a good amount of zig bee products that seem cool and could have a use for if there is not a huge upfront investment. I'm sure I could figure out how to control it, but can I buy this card and a simple switch from ZigBee and it will work? or do I have to go above and beyond by having to buy a rf switch as mentioned above. Basically would it be cost affective to start to switch to zig bee vs staying with smart home. Thanks in advanced. also I don't bu iv had bad luck with smart home switches failing within 6 months at times so why not try another brand but I also had some luck my longest switch is now 7 years old, I like burger king you might like McDonalds I wont know until I try. Lots of cool products are supported by zig bee that smart home does not offer sadly. So id like to give zig bee a whirl if I could simply by a switch or device and it works unless I need to buy more stuff upfront. Average life span of my 40+ smart home devices is about 3.5 years at 70$ average price this adds up quickly. Again Thanks

Hi everyone, been using isy for 5+ years strictly smart home products, as they are failing I looked into zig bee since I have the 994i pro with zig bee support, my question is what would I have to do to get a zig bee product to work. Do I need another plm, is it difficult to set up? zb seems to have better products with a lower price point. Can I mix and match? any help would be great and thanks in advance, I'm treading on new waters. sorry to smart home but you seem limited and expensive now plus products do not last. Rob

Just wondering if this platform is dead because everything I see is greared towards Z-Wave.

Awesome find, only draw back is cost and it has to be wired into a thermostat, was hoping for something like a I/O module. Ill poke around and do some searches. Thanks Again

Is there anything I can change to make the older mobile control software work again? Can you name some apps that WILL work? Voice control would be done with what app which uses rest and ISY? Would this app be loaded on the ISY or would I have to buy anther module? Can you post a link to some reading for this? With Z-wave can that work via my insteon (since it is wireless) and ISY or do I have to buy a Zwave controller/module? Sorry if these questions seem silly but I have recently regained a intrest in expanding my possibilities and want to make the right choices. Which is why I posted in the Q/A section not as a bug with current release, to keep things organized. Thanks Rob

1. Has anything been done different to Android or the isy?, I have used conductor on my phone for a long time with out issues, now after 3 updates to my phone ( I hack so I run which ever carrier has newest version currently running 4.2.4) and as well as skipping about 5 or 6 updates to the ISY (now im current) No software can communicate with the ISY... Edit it can but conductor force closes when I choose a "load folder" which is where all my load switches are, but will work with other folders that only have one switch. 2. Im not a programmer but one of the apps asks for the rest path, I have no clue what that means or is. 3. I skimmed and saw that you can use the isy for voice commands using rest, is there a simple GUI builder for rest? Id hate to ask every day How do I do this or that, can microphones be wired into the isy? So I can have them around my house, can it be linked to my tv or receiver because obviously when they are on I would get many false readings. 4. Is there a temp sensor for water, and heat in general? I would like to have on sensor on my pool heater to sense if it has turned on because it takes 2-3 tries sometimes, and would like to control temp of the water depending on the day and sun. 5. Is there a preferred app for phone now a day most of what I have seen is from 2012. Thanks in advanced Rob

I have at&t uverse router I have even tried to put the ISY in dmz mode which allows ALL traffic and still no luck so I don't think its a issue with my router. I did both, when I go file/enable internet I get failed Internet access. I also did go into the router and set the rules up but that was a long time ago and nothing has changed. I know in the one pic shows not connected but it is, because I can get email alerts, I sent my self a test and it went fine, as well as showing the correct IP. I hope this all helps, I'm kinda lost as why the ISY would have lost internet connection, and by no means am I saying its Universal Devices fault, probably something I did or at&t but I do think all my settings are in place correctly. It is I use fixed IP addresses, both what the router and ISY display are correct.

I recently upgraded to latest firmware for ISY been using conductor but it went stale for a bit on my end didn't have a use for a while, Now it summer and I would like to use it again but.... when I try to enable internet access it fails. I have my router setup to let port 1443 through. I can login in locally also but when I type 99.99.99.99:1443 connection times out fom any outside source. FYI the IP is not mine and I do know I need my correct IP. I had it working for the longest time and have not made any changes to router or ISY with the exception of firmware upgrades. In the config page I have https port 1443 and http port 80 with the correct IP. One last piece of info I do not have port 80 open in router for ISY but I do have it for another ruel for my server, and don't think I have to or can make it a ruel for both or if thats even revelent. Any help would be great thanks.

With trying to give as much info as possible, I had a issue trying to add a 2456S3 3.2.4 so I upgraded to 3.2.6 when I go into Link Manag. click start linking, the press the set button on device I eventually hear the PLM beep and my device go into linking mode but it never shows up into the ISY link table. I would enter it my self but the sticker wore off so not sure of the address, I tried a newer lamp link 2457D2 with exact same result. Every firmware upgrade I made between 3.x.x. and 3.2.4 worked fine thus far but I make very little changes to my programing or add new devices (40 and wife is ripping hair out on money I spent) Now both my newer lamp link and plm are dual band and 6 feet apart so connection should not be a issue, epically since I hear the plm chime. Only reason im changing anything because I accidentally put lamp link on pool pump load which fried my device so I have to replace it. Once upgrade was done the ISY rebooted which should have corrected any issues with stale data. Im probably overlooking something very stupid. I did try to enter the newer dual band lamp link manually with no luck either with both 3.2.4 and 3.2.6, not sure which version I was running prior to 3.2.4 it was a few months old but it did work back then, whatever was current around November had to add two devices for Christmas lights with no problems.

Having a bit of issue after upgrade. I lost one scene which consisted of 4 switches to controll a entrance light. I recreated the scene as follows. SW1 which is load I added as responder, SW2, SW3, and SW4 as controllers. (SW4 is a keypad linc 2486D, SW1,SW2,SW3 are 2476 v.27) after adding everything to scene I can turn on light via load, but in line of sight is Keypadlinc the status does not turn on, but if I press the keypad on and then off again the light will go off. My other two switches show up in scene but do nothing like they are non existant. Nothing has changed or even created a problem with the last 10 beta's first one in long time. Id be happy to post logs if needed or what not. I have over 40 devices in the house with 3 phase couplers and a few of the dual band prouducts its a small house so I deff have signal covered. One more thing all other buttons on keypad show correct status, and next to SW2 and SW3, I have more switches that function correctly. Thanks for any HELP lol

Out of the blue decide to check in and see what the latest beta is then tried to sign in to ISY gave credintals, then recieved message active x has been blocked by IE and would not let me install, ok being half the dummy I am I lowered all my security settings. Now I get option to install but when I click it nothing happens, now mind you I have had the ISY for 3 years and updated it often and played around in there quite a bit but never have I been locked out. Any suggestions? I assume its a update that was pushed to IE9 that caused this not sure how to get around it but just had a thought Ill try firefox yeah have same problem with firefox hangs up on page that says "PLEASE KEEP THIS WINDOW OPEN" Edit: For some reason using IE9 64 bit worked fine, even though I have both versions of JAVA installed, also strange I have build 7 update 1 when on web site they are offering build 6 update 30, did they revert back to the older version because of problems?

If Time is sunset (after) and Time is sunrise -1 second (before) and Status motion sensor is switched on then ...... This should be a simple program, I see in the main tab that the motion sensor is working, but in program summary it shows false like it never received request. The next lines turn a light on but it will never happen as lng as the status shows false. I'm using the latest beta, but this has been a issue for a while so its not a beta problem. (probably my code). Any hints where (I'm being stupid at?) On another note I could never get (after sunset, before sunrise) to work without adding a +1 Second, if i use just defaults without the +- 1 sec. the sunrise part alll ways goes back to (after). Any help would be great. Thank Rob FYI I also tried if (control) is on in place of (status), and +- in various combos for sunset/sunrise. The status of motion sensor all ways reads correctly when tripped in main tab. my first thought was sensor was not working.

Cleared java cache and rebooted same problem. In the log I don't even see a attempt to write updates. I seen some network errors, checked if plm is ok, say connected.Also I put the error log on my desktop tried to upload and get error extension no allowed .txt. The programs that were in there prior do work as expected though. Hummm

The program work well untill just now needed to update my motion sensors because I made some changes and it does not even try to update. I click on update devices and "usually it starts writing and skips devices not in linking mode" currently it will not even try. I will try to reboot ISY and repost results later.

I was wondering if you need to have Java2 for admin console to work or can you use the most current, seems like admin hangs up on load up screen saying Java 2+ required, I just updated to version 27 both 32 and 64 bit and cant log on to update. I'm using beta 3.1.6. been doing some computer clean up. Thanks
