  1. Do you have a pro or non-pro model ISY? if non-pro you're limited to 254 nodes. See the Chart here. The upgrade to pro is soft, you can buy and it's instantly unlocked.
  2. If the router has an API then it's trivial to create a network resource. What does your windows scheduler actually do? If you can hit a url like http:/<local IP of router>/reboot then it's simple with network resources. If you need to SSH or Telnet then login and issue commands you can't do it via network resources. You could however create a nodeserver that could do that. Just to make the discussion simpler for all concerned, what make and model router are you using?
  3. in addition to @Brian H's link here's another one to help with replacing devices: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Replacing_a_Device please note the spot that says "The device being replaced must not be inside a folder". which also applies to the new device.
  4. This is an awesome link! thanks!
  5. I just tried this, your correct!! This is an update in later 5.x I believe, I just tried looking thru release notes but didn't immediately spot a line I'm remembering about the buttons.
  6. If you have AT&T the SMS/MMS gateway isn't really reliable (it works about 97% of the time but the 3% failure rate will occur when you really wanted the message the most) (AT&T also uses different gateways for SMS and MMS use the MMS one with the ISY). If you have another carrier I can't speak to the reliability. If you have Polisy or the networking module I would recommend using Pushover instead. There are two nodeservers to pick from, or if you don't have Polyglot, you can simply create network resources per the wiki. I would recommend using 2500 or 3000 as the timeout tho.
  7. That works great for one device. Yes, you can set the devices backlight level to a value. However when you move to a second device it appears that the device is already set to whatever level you just used on the first device. Again if you understand whats happening here you can change the level of the second device to that actual level by setting it twice. First chaning the dropdown to a random value and letting the change go thru, then again setting to the value that first appeared. (or you can restart the admin console between device 1 and 2). For more than 1 or 2 devices it's by far simplest and fastest to just use the temp program method explained above.
  8. Yes you can, and it's the easiest workaround to the bug if there is more than one to set. All you need to do is add entries to a THEN body. You can add as many as you like. Save the program, then right click it in the program tree and select "run then" Once you've verifed they all are set as you would like them, you may delete this program. EDIT to add: if you don't use this program method, the GUI bug makes it difficult to set more than one device without restarting the admin console between each device or setting after the first each device twice in a row, once to arbitrary value and then a second time to your value.
  9. a related bug is that with backlight=0 you can only use 8 of the 15 levels for "ON" that bug still exists as well. With backlight = 1 or above all 15 ON options work correctly.
  10. Depends what information you need. in the admin console, Tools -> Generate Topology will generate an HTML file. Depending on the number of nodes in your ISY it may take several minutes to complete, when it's finished it will open the HTML file in a browser, just close that. Open Excel and navigate to the folder that you directed Generate Topology to place the file in. Depending on how some excel options are set you may see the .html file listed or you may have to change a dropdown to "all files". Once you find it, open it in excel and excel should import the file correctly then you can save it as Excel. Depends on what you're looking for tho as to whether it will be included. I used this method to generate a list of Insteon addresses for "Just in case" or "disaster recovery" so that I'd never have to remove wallplates or sort thru a folder of pictures I took looking for the correct location (I snap a pic after the device is installed so i can find the address and Ver info later without removing the wallplate.)

    Led Strip Lights

Check out this thread for some alternative noise filter ideas. (towards the end)
  12. the missing step is in my post above.

    Led Strip Lights

The Leviton 6287 5-amp Noise Block is a disconnected product. Sometimes you can find them on ebay. The two LED lights, what style are they? just a bulb? strip fixture or what? If you can still return them you might want to do that and buy a different option. Part of my evaluation of any new device or bulb anymore is if it makes noise that disturbs insteon it gets returned immediately. then I buy something else.
  14. I just answered your other one... I suspect you havent added the devices in the portal at https://my.isy.io Select Tool > Connectivity > AMazon Echo
  15. To speed setup, after you have the first up and going use "Copy Folder" and then rename the folder appropriately. And then edit programs to change devices. I find that to be much faster when setting up multiple similar objects.
  16. If you have the rear blue light next to Port A you do in fact have a 300 series dongle. Go back to 5.0.16C until you upgrade it. You can order the new board direct from UDI.
  17. It takes awhile to set up, but i use programs to accomplish exactly what you're asking for. See this post.
  18. He succeeded!!.... You quoted all 3 of his link spamming attempts, now he has links and mentions...people are talking about that site! at least that what search engines think.....

    Led Strip Lights

The poster above you is just a link spammer... He got you to bite.... you're quoting his links (that's what he hopes people will do because that is what helps his link spamming cause). I reported all 3 of his posts early this morning.
  20. @asperber You may want to open a ticket by emailing support@universal-devices.com I'll add that since it appears the admin console is opening and then throwing the socket error you might need to restart your mac and/or clear the java cache. disclaimer: i've never used the mac implementation.
  21. My Vacation mode isn't automatic, it's just now rolled into the same variable used for away, the only way Away can become =2 is if it's set or reset manually. When set to 2 basically the Fake Lived In look lighting programs are activated and geo-location control of the Away variable is disabled (not that either phone would come home but it eliminates a potential point of failure. My HVAC is simpler than yours, I still use a Nest because it gives me a $100 annual rebate from the power company, the nest isn't even controlled via ISY anymore because nest doesn't want to share. (I've been going to fake hook up the nest so the power company can think they are controlling it and switch to Ecobee but I've never gotten around to that project.)
  22. With the ISY you won't have to reload different programs when you return. To get you started I'd suggest you create a "state variable" called "Away" or "Vacation". Assume that variable will always be 0 for OFF or 1 for ON. Now as you create programs you can include IF $Away = 1 THEN.... or even more complex IF $Away = 1 AND ON TUE Time is 8:05AM THEN.... and likewise conversely you can IF $Away = 0 ...... THEN... How does AWAY get updated? One way is manually, just set the variable to 1 or 0. Another way is you could have a button on a 6 or 8 button keypad set to turn away mode on or off. In my original setup I used a modified version of that, the button would turn away mode ON anytime someone pressed it, but to actually get away mode to turn off you had to know the secret: Turn on 2 specific lights the would be off in away mode, and then open AND close the laundry room door then you had 10 seconds to press the Away button to turn it off. I've since updated the whole Away mode logic to be automatic, using the ISY portal, and the App Locative to create a geofence. Now if BOTH my phone and my wifes phone are not home Away is automatically set, or if ONE OF us arrives home it's cancelled. In the process of making that update I also decided to make the variable Away have two more values, instead of just 0=Off and 1= On my programs now all recogize 4 values for Away: -1=Away mode off, geofence disabled; 0=Away mode OFF, geofence can enable; 1=Away mode ON, geofence can disable, 2=Away Mode ON, Geofence can't disable. Previously I also had a second variable called Vacation which had more automated lighting controls, I've now consolidated that to be included with Away = 2. And that button on the 8-button controller that previously controlled Away mode.... it's now just an indicator light for Away, it no longer controls the state of away mode. You can still do exactly that.
  23. I agree, it seems backwards to me as well.
  24. try logging in via a regular computer browser at https://alexa.amazon.com then delete all devices and scenes that are ISY related. then say "Alexa, discover devices". I find it's about 3 times faster and easier to see the list if you use a full browser over the app.
  25. As written if the second opening is during the wait it will restart the wait, so one minute after the second opening. There is a way to force the one minute wait to expire and the light to shut off before it can be re-triggered. Takes 2 more lines in the 2nd program: Entry Light Off - [ID 0006][Parent 0046] If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Disable Entry Light On Wait 1 minute Set 'Rooms / Entry / Entry Ceiling Light' Off Enable Entry Light On Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')
