  1. my favorite example is my mailbox alert: I get the pushover version before I've even got the door fully open. It's very fast. Another thing I like about Pushover is I can define priority alerts that bypass Do Not Disturb hours on my phone (iOS, but i think android too).
  2. Pushover always arrives ahead of SMS for me. Sometimes it almost the same, but then again sometimes its hours faster, which is a problem with the carriers gateway. In the end I'd call Pushover more reliable.
  3. @bh56 i suspect a different program than the one you posted generated that notification. As @Michel Kohanim points out that program only sends when status changes off to on. Please check using the Find feature by right clicking 'My programs' to find all programs referencing that device.
  4. Actually its the link spam in the signature. this forum has been hit with a bunch of attempted link spammers lately, sadly once they start they just keep coming.
  5. Truth spoken. My ISY was recently disconnected for 12-ish hours due to some remodeling we are doing. I actually planned to have it offline for several days, but after just a short time ran a temporary Ethernet cable across the floor so I could hook it back up. You really don't realize the real-life dependencies created until they don't work.
  6. I'm not sure why UDI has chimed in here, but I think you've hit the nail on the head... V4.8 doesn't know what a series 500 dongle is, so it displays nothing. I'm only making an educated guess tho.... I haven't tried various configurations....
  7. I had the same experience. I needed to order 6- 2635's Insteon ON/OFF modules for my wife's new indoor greenhouse project. I had planned to order 2 5-packs from the Labor Day Sale at Smarthome, but when the Labor Day Sale arrived, that product was excluded. I thought 25% off was bad, but no way will I order that product for the full list prices of 49.95. I ordered 2 3 packs (3 for $21) of the Kasa plug from Amazon, they arrived Saturday morning. Had them working quickly. So instead of 474.50 (full price of 2, 5-packs) or about $355 for 25% off. I spent $42.... I guess time will tell, but even if I have to replace them all every year its still far less expensive.
  8. These must match. Use the launcher instead of whatever method you're currently using. The new method, ISY Launcher makes it more or less fool-proof. See the first post of this thread:
  9. https://www.smarthome.com/products/in-linelinc-relay-insteon-2475sdb-remote-control-in-line-on-off-switch-dual-band https://www.smarthome.com/products/in-linelinc-dimmer-insteon-2475da1-remote-control-in-line-dimmer-dual-band Those are probably what you were remembering. They are effectively a 2477 without the box mounting yolk, they even have to on/off button of a 2477, just no plastic faceplate. I would get a deep weatherproof box for the floodlight and mount the module in the weatherproof box outside, not in a junction box in the empty attic crawl space. Even better if you can do it, cut a switch into a closet or laundry room of the conditioned space of the house. Since you won't use it often and don't want people randomly turning it on/off mount it high on the wall near the ceiling. This comes in handy when you want to test-- access to the physical device is easy. I've added one in the laundry room near the ceiling and one in one of the bedroom closets also near the ceiling. You're absolutely correct the attic is no place for a module, and the back box behind the fixture is really not much better, and certainly alot harder to access.
  10. Good Idea and I understand the need and desire. It should be noted that it will not comply with the NEC as it introduces a flammable material between a junction box and fixture, it's also not a device listed for it's use. That said, I've violated the NEC in my own home a few places (mostly using temporary cords permanently installed and/or enclosed) so I'm not trying to sit in judgement and say it's wrong to do it, but for those wishing to do it, or those installing professionally, it should be noted that's it's not code compliant.
  11. Scenes show up under Scenes in the Alexa app. However, to get her to discover them you say, "Alexa, Discover Devices"

the really nice thing about the replacement is that they CLONE your old hub's address. You don't have to re-link your entire system.
  13. MrBill replied to MikeScott's topic in ISY994
they will replace it for you free. The new one is cloned with the old ones address. my son's failed and he went thru the process it was basically easy. https://www.insteon.com/support-knowledgebase/2015/10/20/migrating-to-a-new-insteon-hub
  14. What happens when it fails? is there an error message? For clarification, your issue is connecting the admin console to your ISY though the portal? do you have the same issue when connecting via the local network or are you at a remote location and can't try local vs portal?
  15. Happy you got it worked out from that. For future info: the search function in this forum tends to leave a lot out. Instead of using the built in search I used google typing this into the search box: site:universal-devices.com /CONF/ENABLED.D2D As an added advantage the google method also searches the wiki and forum at the same time. Google site search is also a handy feature to use on many other sites. Just use site: in your google search specification.

  17. I got excited.... briefly. Unless I'm missing something tho, I believe they are out of stock. I did finally find an item with an 'add to cart' button, but many items on that site are missing the crucial 'add to cart' button, without calling I'm assuming that means out of stock, although they don't actually display those words either.
  18. From the release announcement (first post of this thread):

I use Comcast for ISY. Originally it was just sending to the AT&T MMS gateway, but there were too many late or disappearing messages. First I added a time stamp as an attempt to track that. Eventually I downloaded Xfinity Connect app on my phone, and configured it to the same email address the ISY sends 'from'. Then I added that address to the 'to' of the emails being sent. Xfinity Connect is really just a simple email client that I wasn't actually using with my human based comcast email. Later I tried to eliminate using email and move notifications over to Pushover, which is more reliable but still not perfect. Also the * wildcard for node name doesn't work with network resources. In the end, I use all. Most messages go ISY to my phone via 2 routes and I get 3 notifications total. It's not all bad because usually there are only a few a day, and there is redundancy so none get completely missed. to recap: the ISY smtp is configured to send FROM example@comcast.net. notifications are sent TO "10digitNum@mms.att.net, example@comcast.net" and then sent again via Pushover. On a good day I see 3 notifications at about the same moment on my phone. Sometimes the AT&T version gets delayed or lost, can't do anything about that. Sometimes I notice the notification from the Xfinity Connect app is missing, that means that for whatever reason that app got logged out, so I log it back in. Finally the Pushover version of the message is rarely missing but sometimes it is.... never figured out what to do about that, but in the case of for example "low battery" messages the Pushover version will be missing the node name, but that will arrive in the other forms of the message.
  20. I'm not certain you're correct, but I haven't loaded v5.1.0 to test because I don't think it's included for this reason: and that list appears to include: Since I have no Z-wave and that bug doesn't appear to be addressed I haven't loaded the update.
  21. Correct. It doesn't work. UDI never comments if that is a bug, or they exist for a future use reason we haven't been told. You can only set the admin user name and password, the rest don't work.
  22. MrBill replied to bdw72's topic in ISY994
I agree with lilyoyo1.... it sounds like a bad device. delete it from the ISY, factory reset it again, Don't add it back to the ISY yet, but wait it see if it turns on on its own. If it's bad don't forget it has a 2 year warranty.
  23. @danbutter, the topic was insteon, not z-wave, but here is a past thread with the exact same issue:

I think i got the concept of the new item after re-reading the first post. For clarity tho, The DirecTv power supply is just a new item in the home, not something controlled by the 2634? The next troubleshooting steps I'd take if this were my problem: First I would use the 'find' feature on the programs tab to double check this isn't for some reason included in a program. Right click the folder "my programs" at the top of the program tree on the program tab and use the 'find' feature to look for errant program entries. Assuming it's still unsolved, I would then use Tools > Diagnostics > Show device links table, after then links table is done generating then I would press the 'compare' button. If difference are found you might screen shot and post. Lastly I would reset factory default on the device. Next to last page of this PDF. After factory restore you will want to select the device in the ISY device tree, right click it and pick 'Restore Device'.

Are you speaking of an Insteon 2634 or some other device? and as @Teken mentions are these ON events showing up in the ISY Level 3 event log?
