  1. @DennisC Thanks so much for the reply! Both my eISY's are on 5.6.4 and the one that really brought this issue to my attention was updated just before I migrated it from the ISY. It has had several reboots and iOX reloads after the update and migration.. The other eISY is/was just as slow and it too has had several reboots and iox reloads.. At least they, my test messages, came in this AM! Not sure at what time they actually hit the phone as I turned it off last night! Possibly the bug missed the fix in the latest release? John
  2. Good evening! Over the past several days, actually since I migrated from ISY to eISY, have noticed that both of my eISY's, which currently use the default notification settings via UDI email, have been very very slow! Prior to migrating to the eISY, notifications were very quick... within a couple minutes anyway and sometimes almost instantaneous. Not so; especially tonight, 8/29 at 2020 hours PST and on. Notifications via gmail took about 10 - 15 minutes and I am still waiting 30+ minutes for verizon (@vtext.com) to come through. Again usually a lot quicker. I worry that with instant notifications being rolled out through UD Mobile that there might be some 'issues' with the default notifications. I have a group of people who are to get certain notifications that won't have or install UD Mobile and text is the best way to reach them. I have yet to 'play' with or install the instant notification system as I have been very satisfied with the default system. Maybe something else is amiss? ya know, I would even pay for the default system as it took care of my needs exceptionally well. Thanks for any insight! John
  3. BIOS is that little computer's Basic Input Output System that tells the hardware what devices to boot, what hardware is enabled, if it boots with the numlock key, and etc. Firmware is software that makes the eISY IoX work and it is stored in hardware memory, nonvolatile. Hope this might help. John
  4. I am no expert but just migrated to the eisy from the isy. A couple of thoughts that might help are: (whihc is what I did before I started my migration 1). factory reset your eisy. 2). do a factory reset of your PLM. Hold set button and plug in. Keep holding it until beeping stops. 3). Ensire PLM is plugged into power and the eisy BEFORE powering on the eisy. (The ISY required it. Doubt the new hard ware requires it, but still consider it). 4). Upgrade all modules. Bring it up to current version of firmware. Restart IOX. 5). After the restart of IOX, if using Insteon, check the checkbox for Insteon. if using Zwave, checkbox that too. etc. 6). Restart IOX. again 7). Restore the eisy from ISY backup 8). Restore PLM. This will also reprogarm all your devices (Insteon anyway), to the new PLM. This takes some time. The more devices the longer it takes. 9). Test. This did the trick for me! And I hope this might help! John
  5. Never mind. For some reason Alexa was slow as it took several hours before she decided to do my will. Thanks John
  6. Boy am I behind the curve! I knew and read that the iSY994 was discontinued, hence the upgrade to the eisy, but I sure skipped over the modules stuff. Thanks so much for the replies and the link to the node servers available. A lot of folks will be using the ISY for a long time I will bet as it still works very well. Wish UDI could make a static page if and when you click the Purchase Module instead of a 404 on the ISY. Again, thanks! John
  7. In preparing for migrating my ISY994 to the new eISY, I thought I would refamilarize myself with what modules are available as I thought I might be able to use a weather module for some of the stuff I am planning on doing on the eISY. SO.. on my isy994i, I go to Help > Purchase Modules and it opens a link with my UUID attached and it comes up with a fancy 404 error page. Woops 404 Not found. Tried several times then tried on my other ISY994i and same 404. Can someone advise me if modules are dead for the isy or just a temp problem on UDI's end? Are there any modules available for the eISY? Thanks! John
  8. @javi Excellent!! Works well now!! Thank-you! John
  9. The screen remains on the Alexa SHS page/screen. John
  10. @Javi Q: Where is this error encountered? (Both of my profiles) A: This error is encountered in Admin Dashboard > Alexa > Select Portal > Tucson ....ERROR: and, Admin Dashboard > Alexa > Select Portal > Show Low ...ERROR: Q: Is the portal account linked to UD Mobile a sub account or main account? A: The portal accounts are linked, (I am not trying to be belligerent or a 'smarty party' as I don't know, but don't they, portal accounts, have to be linked for UD Mobile to work?), and each is a main account. One is NOT a sub account of the other. So to be clear, each is a fully separate portal account. John
  11. Have an isy994i on the latest 5.3.4 version and have right now all insteon devices with spokens set in the portal and all working well with Alexa. I just saw that UDMobile (Android) had an update for Alexa stuff so gave it a try and came up with the above error. Couldn't find anything specific on a search so thought I'd ask. I realize that UDMobile is designed for the newer hardware and the ISY may not work with everything. Is this one of those things? Thanks! John
  12. Please forgive me if I have missed this somewhere, as I have STFed, Googled and etc. on how to make my Alexa a Resource in ISY programming. There's a lot of stuff on resources but nothing that pertains to Alexa as far as I can tell yet it seems others have done it. I have Alexa working very well in my ISY 994i v5.3.4 for doing everything I am too lazy to get up and do and I also have her saying stuff when a device state changes and etc. But doing this forces me to go into the Alexa App and set up this stuff and to setup what I want her to say in response to the device or variable. I have seen some programing that simply has: Resource 'Say something' I am assuming that the words in the single quotes is what Alexa is supposed to speak. I am not sure tho. It just seems 'easier' to have Alexa set up as a resource and tell her what to say in my programs. Where can I find out how to do this? Or does it not make sense when going into the Alexa App you can pretty much do this stuff there. Thanks again for your help!!! John
  13. Geddy, Thank-you! There bigger than life! I was looking too deep. John
  14. YEARS ago, I set up two ISY994i's in two different locations and was able to somewhere name each of them. As an example I renamed one from simply "ISY" to Tucson-ISY and that shows up in the ISY-FInder. Where is this set today? It is on a static IP, not DHCP so nothing assigned there or in my router or HOSTS file. Thanks for any insight! It helps to know which is which easily when using a VPN. John
  15. @ tlightne Yes. I know... But I am not yet using Z-Wave stuff but will eventually. There was a comment about the firmware going into safe-mode without a PLM attached. That is why I am asking if one can still program and setup this ISY without a PLM attached. And if it does go into a safe-mode is it still modifiable? I am trying hard not to screw something up and all this info is a super help! John
  16. One thing I still don't have answered; In order to check versions and get things rolling with the 500 Series ZW+, must I have it plugged into a PLM? Can I work with it in a PLM free mode?
  17. Again, Thank-you sir!! John
  18. Mr. Bill! Thank-you again! There is no hole, per se, but one could be made there. There is no LED in that area that I can decern from shining a light in there from all different angles. The image shows the label as an ISY 994i ZW+ and is supposed to have Z-Wave capability. This is why I get concerned about upgrading as I have no idea if this is a 300 or 500 or what?? And things seem to change. I also do not see a daughterboard anywhere in this unit. Ugh!
  19. Mr. Bill, THANK-YOU! Here is where I get confused. Do I need to TTY into the ISY to do the 4.9.0 firmware install? Or, do I just use the ISY finder as usual to get into it? Then, in either case, where do I find the option of what firmware to install? If using the ISY Finder/Launcher will it come up under the Help, Upgrade? Do I manually install it? In any event, I'll search for the download of 4.9.0 to have. I am just so worried about screwing things up and even reading the wiki I get a bit confused. I am not sure why this worries me so much! What is the worst that can happen? I start over... relearn stuff from years past. Get over and move forward?? LOL But any insights would be absolutely wonderful! What to expect and where to find it. John
  20. Thanks so much for the reply! I shouldn't have mentioned that the ISY was Zwave capable as I don't have anything ZWave capable yet, just Insteon. I know I have to hook it up to my network to communicate with it, but must I hook it up to a PLM in order to restore my backup and fix program issues. When all that is done, can I remove my old ISY from the current PLM and plug in the new ISY into thecurrent PLM. Offline for the Insteon powerline stuff. Thx John
  21. Several years back, I purchased an ISY994i ZW+ as a backup system "just in case" with a version 5.X.X firmware. I can't remember what version. I have a lot of current backups from my 4.9.0 system with most likely a failing SD-Card, an easy fix. I posted about it below somewhere in this forum. Without attaching the new never before programmed ISY with Z-Wave to a PLM, can I set it up? By this I mean, can I restore my backup, fix the programs that need changes and get the latest firmware? Then attach it to the current PLM? I want to keep my current ISY running along before I swap it out with the new ZWave version and latest firmware. Just simplifies my fears of screwing something up knowing that I have a working PLM and ISY. Again, thanks in advance! John
  22. It has been years since I have been on this forum as my old 4.9.0 ISY has been plugging along great! But to the crux of my post... The wiki shows great instructions on replacing the SD-Card but I have been happily using firmware version 4.9.0 for many years being quite happy. Obviously my ISY does pretty simple tasks. My SD-Card appears to have some corruption as I cannot open or clear log files, empty but shows several thousand blank lines and have quite a few failure to open certain files in the Tools > Log and Tools > Error Log. I have no error light lit and System Status shows plenty of memory available and 0 bad bytes. If I try to open the log file or error log file, and then try to go to my programs, I am out of luck. All my programs simply do not appear. From researching the forums, it would appear I have a corrupted SD-Card. My questions are: 1). Is there any way to do a chkdsk or an fsck and fix a corrupted SD-Card, (what file system is in use?)? 2). In reformatting the SD-Card it states to install the firmware and my question is, I like my old version as I am apprehensive about upgrading and going through my programs and fear of failure. Can I reinstall version 4.9.0 or must I go to the latest 5.X.X version? Thanks in advance for any help and thoughts. John
  23. Stupid question, but I do not have the climate module, at least I never ordered it or installed it or paid for it. Do I still need to do this update? My system is 4.7.3. I always fear firmware updates should something go awry. Thank-you!
  24. Several weeks ago I replaced a failing PLM on firmware 4.7.3. All worked well and as I recall I did reboot the ISY after all worked as expected as a "good measure" Last night I had to enable my Christmas programs and when I clicked on Programs, none of my programs showed up! All of my programs have been and were working/running as they should but nothing appeared. I rebooted my ISY and checked again and all my programs reappeared and I was able to enable and modify my seasonal programs. Is something possibly failing in my ISY? I have not had this behavior before and I do not recall reading about such a thing in the forums and could not find a topic after an STF. But something about this reminds of reading about a memory card issue and something not appearing as usual. Thanks again for any thoughts. John
  25. My PLM, Version 2.2 became very flaky after about 2.5 to 3 years. Sometimes things would work and sometime things wouldn't. A new PLM, V2.5, fixed all my issues. The 2.2 PLM didn't fail due to a power supply issue but it was heading there, at least getting pretty darn flaky, even though the caps on the 2.2 version were beefed up a bit from what I can tell. Not to the recommended values in the threads, but they were getting a bit more robust. In pouring over the threads on replacing the capacitors in the PLM, I could find no mention of replacing C2 which is a 100mfd 6.3 volt cap on the serial daughter board. I am going to replace all the main board caps but I am not sure what C2's purpose is. However, is this something that should be replaced? Figured I might as well, but sometimes it might be best to leave well enough alone if it is truly doubtful that a replacement would help. And I am seeking the experts thoughts on this one. Thanks
