Can the ISY look for and read a WOL that is sent to it?

I am wondering if the ISY can read a WOL that is sent to it.

If yes, what how can I use this in a program?

In no, would you consider adding this to the code?

Being that the ISY is an always on device, what would be the purpose in this? If you are just trying to trigger something in the ISY, the /rest interface allows for that by either setting variables, or calling programs.

One such purpose is my phone can send a WOL when it connects to my network. This tells the network I am home.

I drive up in my car, at 3:15, my phone connects to my WiFi network and sends a WOL to the ISY. The ISY sees that it is 3:15 +/-10 minutes and runs a program. This program opens the garage door, turns the TV to the Western Channel. I walk in and Gunsmoke is on and all the kids have left the room because they hate black and with TV shows.

End result: I get a few minutes of peace and quiet.

what phone do you have that sends a WOL?

With tasker and an call to the rest interface, you can get that now too. Something on my list to work on.

Someone was having extra browser windows open from the rest calls and was hoping to find a way to close them seemed to be the only draw back.

Any Android phone can do it.

Hi Gary,

The answer is no.

With kind regards,

Michel

Thank you for taking the time to answer.

Is this something that could be added to the ISY with little effort? I know ROI has to be considered.

I think what you might be looking to do is "Proximity Detection" i.e. for your ISY to know when you're home... or when any one of a number of people are home by detecting whether or not one of their wireless devices is on WiFi or not. Correct?

There is a long running thread on this and quite a few of us have gotten exactly that up and running without problems. Check it out: http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=9854

That is basically what I am looking for. I am fully aware of that thread. I am looking for a simple solution, that anyone with a smartphone (even the iPhone) can implement, without additional cost or hardware.

Thank you for the link and reply.
