Detecting Load Sense

I have Load Sense enabled on a Insteon receptacle. When it goes to a on state I want to be able use that to trigger a program. So far the only way this has worked is if I do a query on the device and it then detects the on state then runs the program. Is there any way to do this query within the ISY programming?

Yes, you can use ISY programming to query this device continuously:

 

If

- no conditions

Then

Repeat Every 1 minute

Set Your_receptacle Query

 

But, this should not be the ultimate solution. We are working with SL to see how we can sense the load state changes.

Another possible solution would be to use X10 to trigger your program. When the outletlinc is triggered locally it will send an X10 On/Off at it's assigned housecode/Unit code. It's probably doing this now without your knowledge.

 

I call this a "possible solution" because, if you're not set-up for x10, your PLM/ISY may not be able to hear the X10 transmission. Insteon devices can communicate in X10 but they do not repeat it (no amplification) and accesspoints/signalincs will not couple it to the opposite phase.

 

If your PLM/ISY is one the same electrical phase as your outletlinc it might be worth a shot.

It at least sounds possible. I'll try Michel's suggestion first since I've pretty much gone Insteon because of X10 problems. If it that doesn't work then maybe I'll try Mikes. I have one X10 device right now that is pretty stable so I might try setting the receptacle up as one if that's what it takes.

We just got confirmation from SmartLabs that there are no broadcast/multicast messages that INSTEON devices send out based on Load Sensing. Furthermore, this is not part of the specification [yet]. As such, what you are doing is [and shall be for the foreseeable future] the solution.
