Recommended Posts

a couple of weeks ago i noticed my isy99 has solid xmit, recv and power lights on - the error light is flashing about once per second - i plugged in the admin console cable and could logon - i did a RS - i get the 'file system init fail' message - i can still login to the admin console - what should i try - should i do a factory reset or open the box?

Hi sloop,

It seems like you have a defective SD card inside ISY. You can try factory reset and restore you backup, or we can send you a new SD Card to replace the old one with.

With kind regards,

Michel

i opened it and reseated the sd card - contacts look clean - same thing - i treid the factory reset - same thing

i have a sd card somewhere - i think a 256 meg came with my old pdaphone but i can't seem to find it - i have a 1 gig in it now that i am not using - i also have a card r/w for my pc - can i reflash it myself from my pc? i placed the card in the reader and it shows unformatted (if that matters)

if it needs a 128 meg sd, i can pick one up

Hi sloop,

I do apologize for the problems you've been having.

I suspect you have a defective SD card and I wouldn't waste any more time on it. Since your unit is still under warranty, I will send you one immediately. Simply verify your address (support@universal-devices.com). Otherwise, you can use any SD/xSD card up to 256MB. 1 Gig would not work. After you install the SD Card, you would have to go to http://www.universal-devices.com/27 and use Help->Manually Upgrade My Lighting to update your system with the latest firmware. Then, you would do File->Restore ISY.

With kind regards,

Michel

i responded to the e/mail - but for posterity (or for myself because i will forget what i did)

since the sd card was fried, i placed it in my pc card reader - it showed unformatted - so i thought what the heck, and formatted it - i left the file system as fat32 - it formatted to 119 meg - when i placed it in the isy, it started - i did not have to reload the firmware but did restore the isy from my latest backup

now i am not recommending you do this and i will still pick up another sd card - but it seemed to work fine for me - might work in a pinch

Hello croberto,

Apologies for the inconvenience. You should use http://www.universal-devices.com/99i and then choose amongst the following updates:

I have the same issue, but can't seem to find where to find the new firmware file. The http://forum.universal-devices.com/27 does not work.
