GuitarBuilder Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 I just read some great news: ThinkEco is willing to make its Modlet API available! For those now familiar with their product, check them out at http://www.thinkecoinc.com. The Modlet (although somewhat funky looking) is superior to the Insteon ApplianceLincs in that they both monitor energy use and control 2 outlets in a duplex box. I have 12 of them in my house doing a beta test in comparison with Insteon. At this point I'm declaring their hardware design better. Communication is through Zigbee; I have their network gateway. Michael - could you please contact them and see if you could add functionality to the ISY to read and control the Modlets? This would be fantastic! Thanks!
Michel Kohanim Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Hi GuitarBuilder, We did contact them couple of times and never heard back. At this point, I am no longer willing to contact them. If you/they wish to integrate with ISY, they can have their network controller submit REST commands to Variables in ISY. From experience, I can tell you that they won't. With kind regards, Michel
GuitarBuilder Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 Michel, I know you contacted them in the past and I understand why you might have a negative impression. I had asked them for APIs at the same time and got denied as well. I believe they changed their minds and announced the API availability just recently, and that is why I thought you could give it one "last" try. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Peter
Michel Kohanim Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Hi Peter, Thank you. As much as I would love to help, the fact that they completely ignored me twice does not leave me a good feeling that they would be willing to help in case we run into any issues. Again, if you can get "them" to try and integrate with ISY, I would personally be more than happy to provide them with any help/support they might need. With kind regards, Michel
