Communication Has Stopped

Hello, I have been using my ISY with no problems for about a year. However, all of a sudden, without ANY changes to anything in my home (network, appliances etc), Mobilinc is unable to connect to the ISY and some KeypadLinc insteon devices do not work.

I can, however, log into the ISY using the admin portal and see everything perfectly fine.

Would anyone have ANY idea what could have possibly caused this?

Thank you!

Check your LAN IP Address. Sometimes these change unless you have established a fixed address through some service.

Nope, it has a fixed IP of 10.0.1.3 and I verified this just to make sure through the admin control panel.

Sorry. I meant WAN address. The one provided by your ISP.

I find this by going to whatismyip.com.

Make sure this matches the IP address in your mobilinc.

This is static too. I have a business internet connection with a static WAN address. So this didn't change either.

Ok. The next thing I would try is, within mobilinc, to sync with your controller. I believe it is under settings>>>controller (or similar).

Syncing with your ISY is necessary any time changes to a program are made. The may also be other times.

Okay, I think this has turned into two different issues, maybe.

I have been using Mobilinc Connect so everything was automated from me. I changed the settings so that when on my local network, it simply connected directly to the controller. Everything synched fine. I dont know why outside access has stopped. NOTHING has changed in my network or INSTEON configuration, so I dont know why access has stopped.

But the other problem now is that one KPL (and this has been this way form the beginning of these issues) doesn't respond to any commands physically. When I turn on the kitchen light, the corresponding light on the KPL turns on, but when you press that button on the KPL, nothing happens to the corresponding light.

Something is definitely up here.

I agree with the assessment regarding the KPL being defective. You can try factory resets, however. Sometimes one can get lucky. Does ANY button work or is it non-responsive to all button presses?

Since you use mobilinc connect, you may also try contacting mobilinc to see if they have any suggestions.

The KPL responds in terms of its button lights going on or off and SOMETIMES, very rarely, will a corresponding light in the home go on or off.

I just think it is incredibly weird that these two issues started happening at the same time...

I misunderstood. I would not count out this keypad quite yet.

I don't believe these problems are related.
