There is no selection for automatic writes to document 4.1.0

I thought about another thing that I don't think used to be there. It tends to hide behind other screens. When I start the local admin console it pops up a window for ISY Finder. It has no help and no explanation of why it is there or what the buttons actually do. I searched the user manual and found nothing informative. I did a search on the forum and found some references about adding the URL on this screen. I have just canceled it because I did not want to screw anything up by doing things I don't understand.

The ISY Finder opens with a single line of information at the top. In red.

My Lighting http://192.168.11.30 [uuid]

The first number is the IP of my ISY - I use a fixed address for it. The second number appears to be an IPV6 address. The XX.XX.XX I put in to cover the address.

I saw it knew the IP address so assumed it was just a meaningless window.

If the console does not know where the ISY is, hiding update writes may result. Not a particularly informative approach if it is true, but maybe it is the problem. But as I have noted above, Help about does show my IP address and all of the rest of the normal information.

I can also turn devices on and off and receive status from the console. SO it has to be communicating with the ISY.

So, I have no idea - but I thought I would share this in the hopes of ones more skilled being able to deduce something from it.

The ISY Finder window is normal. The second number being described is the UUID of the ISY. Google UUID for a description. If you had multiple ISY devices installed the ISY Finder would normally show all of them, allowing you to pick which ISY the Admin Console should connect to. I don't think this is related to the missing option. Going directly to the ISY IP address bypasses the ISY Finder. Without specifying the IP address, the Admin Console goes to the router asking for UUID of the ISY(s).

I upgraded to 4.1.1 today (and cleared the cache so I also have 4.1.1 UI) and am still seeing the same behavior as before. Sometimes when I open the console I have both options, sometimes just the option for battery devices, and sometimes neither.

Just to be clear, I was seeing the issue with 4.0.5 using both the 4.0.5 and 4.0.11 UI.

I have started the admin console multiple times over the last week or two. Sometimes I get the automatic update of non-battery; sometimes I don't.

Something else I just noticed. And this may be a pure hallucination on my part. I am just not positive, but I do not think I was getting the black text entries in the scenes before. Today I was going through a bunch of scenes to see if they really did what I think they should and suddenly noticed them. I actually spent time trying to search for the meaning of the black text. I think it was new on this start of the console. FWIW

Opened Dec 09 - still no resolution to this issue. I have updated to 4.1.2 beta. Still the same behavior.

THIS IS NOT A TRIVIAL PROBLEM.

Every time I make any change (as part of numerous ones I plan to make) the application spends several minutes locked up in writing. This is pretty much completely unacceptable behavior! A real time destroyer.

For what it is worth, I just updated to 4.1.2 (is that the latest?), including the UI, and experienced similar issues...the automatic write updates toggle buttons were not there. Interestingly, when I logged back in later, they returned, only to go away and come back in subsequent visits. I observed no particular relationship to any other event.

OK Michel, I will do that.

But I would like to point out that more people than I have the problem across multiple firmware releases. And you guys said you were working on it.

If you could ask whomever gets the ticket to read this thread first to avoid answering all the applicable questions again, that would be nice..

Hi Harold,

Sorry for the trouble you are having. We can't recreate the problem here, so please do the following the next time it happens:

1) Leave the Admin console open

2) Do all of the following from a Web Browser:

http:///rest/batch/on

http:///rest/batch/off

http:///rest/batteryPoweredWrites/off

http:///rest/batteryPoweredWrites/on

e.g. http://192.168.0.11/rest/batch/on

3) Look at the Admin console and see if the buttons are now there

Please let us know of the results, thanks.

I did not see anyone from UDI indicate this as a new problem. From what Chris posted they have not been able to recreate locally. Fixing something that cannot be recreated locally is usually a challenge. Have you been able to run the REST test Chris suggested as a means of getting more information?

Michel,

I loaded the new administrative application and both of the appearing and disappearing icons are present. Anyone else following this should try it out and lets see if it actually fixes the problem. I am not going to restart just now. I have some work to get done before my wife starts prying Insteon controllers out of the walls. I will try it a few times later.

Thanks Michel.
