Interfacing a ISY994i device with an inverter

Hi,

We live off-grid and are looking to do some home automation and data collecting. Do you know what is available for this device to talk to an inverter? We have an old school Xantrex SW4024 right now that would be difficult to pull information off of. But we are looking to upgrade as we add more solar. I want to have in mind what the connectivity options are as we choose so I can make sure we pick stuff that will talk to each other.

If it matters, ultimately I want to be able to collect data on the inverter and other devices and use that data to make if-then statements to control things. (ex: if the input to the inverter is > 15 amps and the output from the inverter is < 10 amps then turn on this outlet.)

Thanks,

G Graham

Hi G Graham,

Unfortunately we do not have any solutions for talking to inverters. I am sorry.

With kind regards,

Michel

Now hold on... Couldn't some interaction occur by using a common interface, even something as simple as variable-based logic via a 3rd application, such as software (Homeseer, CQC, etc)? A direct link may not work, but what about both as part of a larger "ecosystem"?

They have said they will add support for the Z Wave Power Monitoring. Once this is in, you will be able to connect a Z Wave Power Monitor to the AC Output of your Inverter and have this fed into ISY. I will be putting in our solar system here in the next month or so and will let you know what we ultimately set up.

The Z Wave support will really open the door here though. The Z Wave power modules can be connected at several load points to both control the load and monitor its consumption.
