iglon Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Mi ISY994 works like a charm, it is quick, very reliable (compared to smartlinc controller) and my insteon thermostat response is almost immediate. But, there is a problem when I try to add 2 older single band devices (Smarthome 2635-222 ApplianceLinc ) as they are not recognized, nor can I them manually. So, I was thinking, there has to be a way to make ISY recognize those devices. Can someone give me the pointers how to do this? I rather try different things then spend $ 100 if I can get those appliance modules to work.

It was replaced by the 2635-222 What firmware are you running on your ISY994i? The firmware release notes. Indicate the On/Off module was added in 4.1.0. 4.1.2 is the latest beta version but I understand 4.1.3 is getting close. Are you running the last released firmware 4.0.5? It will not recognize the new On/Off Module.

I upgraded the firmware successfully and then I tried adding applianelinc modules. one module has firmware version 4.1, other has version 4.9 I tried adding devices by "start linking" option, that did not work so I tried adding them manually. when i try adding it manually it fails with ''cannot determine insteon engine'' so, the firmware update did not fix the issue. anything else I can try before i spend money on new type of 2635-222 modules?

Is the problem module a 2456S3 or a 2635-222? sorry, my bad. I have 2 older 2456S3 modules, and I was trying not to spend the money on new dual band 2635-222 modules. I will probably buy at least one new module anyways, but I would like to put to good use those older 2456S3 appliance modules.

I see your problem ones are 4.1 and 4.9. They should also be fine. It will be interesting to see what your level 3 Event Viewer shows.

I thought that level3 was just the type of event log that I can select. from ISY window I selected tools --> diagnostic --> event viewer --> level 3 --> saved to a file and I posted the contents of After I posted this I was asked by Michael to run/post level3 results and since I did not know what other level 3 log to post I have tried posting the error log hoping that it would have information that he requested. I am kind of confused as what level3 we are referring to now. Is there other level3 log that I need to access?
LeeG Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Run Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer; at the bottom of the event viewer display is a Level field. Select the pulldown and select Level 3. After selecting LEVEL 3, attempt to add the device. Save the event file and post here. The posted trace file was taken while still in LEVEL 1.

There should be an 02 50 responce as in this trace in Red. Perhaps move the devices closer to the PLM. iglon Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 I tried moving both of the modules to same outlet where powerlinc is plugged into but I am getting the same error. is is possible that ISY cannot understand appliancelinc's version of firmware? Those 2 appliancelinc modules used to work with insteon controller so I am guessing that maybe firmware version could be the issue.

I have real old hardware 1.3, I1 Protocol, Firmware .28 Hardware 4.1, I2 Protocol, Firmware .32 Hardware 4.A, I2CS Protocol, Firmware .42 All of them where added to my system with few problems. The 4.A gave me some issues. I had to put it real near the PLM to add it. As a test. I got out three unused ApplianceLincs. One of each version of the ones I listed above. All three installed correctly. On the outlet the PLM was in.
