Replacing my heat pump system and will be installing a new Tran XL824 thermostat. Reading the brochure it has ZWave capability. Would the ISY with the ZWave module be able to communicate with the thermostat? Looking to have the thermostat switch to Away Mode when the Elk alarm system is armed.

Any experience out there with the XL824 or will I be the guinea pig?

I have a Trane Comfortlink II AND a zoned A/C system. I've been advised it only works with Nexia. I get a 'complementary' account from Nexia to control it, but if I try to use Nexia for anything else, I'll have to pay monthly. It'd be nice to have a common interface for everything, but for now I'm OK with the proprietary singular interface for the Trane. I have no plans to use Nexia for anything else. I'm no fan of monthly fees.

I just had the XL824 installed yesterday with a new HVAC unit and I'm not sure if its going to work, at least with the current software it has.

The XL824 includes a Nexia bridge and you have to enroll it with Nexia to even enable the Nexia/Zwave menus. At that point I can get options to include/exclude other Z-wave devices, but don't see any options to include the thermostat as a device on another controller. The manual talks about being able to put the bridge into a "repeater" mode if you have another Nexia Bridge on your Nexia account, but that would involve an investment in the bridge and the monthly investment in the account.

Its looks like this is the initial rev of the thermostat software, so its probably something that could be added considering most of their other thermostats can be added that way.

If there is anything anyone wants me to try playing with, let me know.

I just installed the Zwave module in the ISY and trying to get it to work with the XL824 too. Not having any luck anyone have any ideas on how to get these two units to communicate?
