Logging of program activity?

Featured Replies

Is there a way to have the log reflect program activity as well? All I see from the event log is just insteon communications (and variable changes), oh and weather module updates.

Be nice to see a programs conditions and results tied into output.

Or am I missing something?

I noticed that the log in excel shows all my events including programs. Great. Be cool to have the event log combined with this one. See how a programs results are handled by insteon events.

Hi ravedog,

That sounds like a good idea. This said, it would be a little difficult since we use the log for charts and additional free text information (such as event viewer) is going to cause major disturbances. Perhaps we should have a debugger log which captures device states, program states, and event viewer and it's only used for visual debugging.

With kind regards,

Michel

Sounds like a debugger might be great. Perhaps level 11 in the event viewer? (Anyone, anyone???)

YES! It's on the list!

I've been using the ability to append to HTM files in the Networking/Web Server module to build logs of specific program activity.  This works, but is kludgy.
