windrockwater Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Hi there, I have been using the ISY99i/IR for years now. With dark winter coming its my typical time of year to replace a bunch of my insteon dimmers that continue to have paddle-up issues and attempt some new programs (to drive my wife crazy). i have replaced these dimmers many times. Most are v35 or newer (v38, v40, etc.) O well...with an entire house full of Insteon, I have no alternative. I am in for life. Anyway that's my problem not yours. But i too just got the certificate error and luckily found this thread so i can access the admin console. I would like to upgrade my ISY using the upgrade price. But I am confused as to which new ISY to get? I would like to use my Harmony1 to trigger some scenes using IR if possible. Can you direct me to the correct product or products? Or do i simple choose between the 99$ and the 145$? And finally, can you give me a coupon to lessen my pain? Thanks. Still love my ISY after years!
Michel Kohanim Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Hi windrockwater, Thanks so very much for your loyalty! It's really up to you which one you want to go with. If you never used the IR functionality, then the cheap $99.00 would suffice. If you have a PRO (I do not think you do), then I strongly suggest remaining with the PRO. And, as always, you can contact our tech support and we'll help you figure out which one is best for you. With kind regards,Michel
windrockwater Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 So right now i have the ISY99i/IR (1030). There is no power supply connected to it. It is connected to the PLM and my switch directly. Although i am not using IR much with it right now, I would like to try again when I get the new ISY (I also have a global cache setup on my system). So I am looking at your UDI store for the ISY upgrade path. This would be appropriate correct? ISY994i/IR PRO (UPGRADE) for $145? TIA.
Xathros Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Yes. However if you still have a 2412S PLM, I would consider getting a new 2413S PLM as well. -Xathros Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
windrockwater Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 I just looked and it is indeed a 2412S. Can you tell me why the recommendation to upgrade that? Or point me to some information about it? Thanks again.
Xathros Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Several reasons. First the 2412s supplies power to the ISY in the range of 12 to 18 volts. The ISY only needs 5 volts and in some cases last year the higher voltage from the 2412s actually burned up some of the first Zwave dongles for the ISY. Second, the 2412 is an aging device and history has shown that Smarthome's PLMs have a limited lifespan before failure. Any 2412 still in operation has already exceeded the average operational lifespan of a PLM. I would be worried that a PLM of that age is about ready to quit. Third, newer insteon devices use a newer I2CS protocol that the 2412 knows nothing about. The 2413s with current firmware should fully support the newer Insteon products. Lastly, a new 2413 will have the latest firmware with fixes for an untold number of issues since the firmware in your 2412 shipped. Hope the helps. -Xathros Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
pasierbt Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 I've been happily using two ISY 99i's since they were first released, and recently got the revoked certificate errors. By using the link in this thread, I can successfully access the Admin console on the ISY on my local LAN. The other ISY is located at a second home at the other end of the state. I access it by using a DYNDNS address and port forwarding through the router there. This is very convenient for changing programs when I am away. How can I access the ISY at the remote location without getting the Revoked Cert errors. Thanks in advance.
Michel Kohanim Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Hi pasierbt, 1. Please go to http://isy.universal-devices.com/994i/admin.jnlp... this will install an "ISY994 Administrative Console" on your desktop 2. Once the Admin Console comes up, login, and minimize it 3. On the ISY Finder dialog, click the Add button and enter the URL for your remote ISY 4. Close the Admin Console 5. Click on the "ISY994 Administrative Console" icon and then choose which ISY you wish to connect to from the list With kind regards,Michel
kevincol Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 I had to replace some of my failed Insteon switches. In doing so I came across the problem in this thread. I followed the directions using Firefox and the admin console would start. However, in the middle of updating the switches the console crashes. I have tried this three times (also clearing the Java cache) and I continue to have the admin console crash. I have ordered the 994i upgrade, but in the meantime I can't use my new switches because the admin console continues to crash. What is necessary to keep the console from crashing?
LeeG Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 (edited) I take it you are now running a 99i. There are various devices 3.3.10 does not support. Replacing a KPL with a current KPL is not supported. That normally does not crash the 3.3.10 Admin Console but the KPL will not add. What does Help | About show for Firmware and UI levels? What devices are being replaced? Edited November 30, 2014 by LeeG

I had the same problem as everyone else on this thread, with the revoked certificate after I allowed the admin console to upgrade my isy99i. I can run the new admin console via your new link, but I can't get the admin console to find my isy in the ISY Finder dialog. I access my isy using an internal url ... i.e. http://192.168.1.219/ and even before I upgraded, I used to have the same problem if I ran the admin console directly from your web site ... i.e. http://192.168.1.219/admin OR http://192.168.1.219/admin.jnlp would both work fine, but if I'd run it directly from your web site, I get the ISY finder dialog, where if I click "add" and enter "http://192.168.1.219/"it just says "not found". What do I need to do to get the ISY finder to work? Do I have to make it accessible on the internet? Thanks ...

Well, to answer my own question, it looks like "http://192.168.1.219"works, whereas "http://192.168.1.219/" does not. (Sigh!)
