KPL Programming Help

What I'm trying to achieve seems simple to me and a common setup, but my attempts have failed. 6 button KPL with primary load among 6 Insteon controlled lights in my Kitchen. Have the 4 KPL secondary buttons set as Mut Exclus. They are labelled All-Off, Night, Entertain, and Cook and my intention is to have all 4 secondaries control the same 6 loads with different On intensities programmed in ISY. I made a scene for each desired action, added the lights as responders first (have tried all 6 and also the 5 that don't include the KPL primary load), then added the designated button as a controller for each corresponding scene. I have initially set each of the buttons as non-toggle, though this might be one of the problems. The All-Off works with each intensity set at 0, but none of the others seem to respond (i.e. to turn the lights On at their non-zero intensities). Futhermore, querying the KPL buttons shows the status at OFF even when it's ON. The KPL primary buttons (On/Off) are set at Toggle and work fine. Thank you for your help.

Since they are all non-toggle On the buttons cannot be mutually exclusive. I tried that too ;) I use the non-toggle On, all buttons are always illuminated.

The ISY will not show an On status for all the buttons until they are each pressed once. There is no way to query the KPL buttons, the Query only reports the current on level, local level and rate. Maybe the MutEx is not allowing any of the other buttons to turn on.
