Two 2441th Stats - Stopped Working After a Year

I'm stumped and could use some suggestions on this one. . .

I have two identical 2441th Thermostats that have worked fine with my ISY994i for approximately one year.  Both suddenly stopped working.  My ISY/PLM still work fine with a number of Insteon switches.  Things I've tried (with no luck) include. . .

- Updated flash on 994i to v4.2.18 (UI is the same version)

- Removed both thermostats from all scenes

- Performed factory reset on both 2441th

- Attempted both auto discover and manual add of the thermostats.  In both cases, the device is detected, but fails to add as shown in the diagnostics below.  The popup error message is the dreaded "Cannot     determine Insteon Engine."

The PLM status shows 25.13.46v9B / Connected (which is as expected, since all of my Insteon Lamp Lincs, In-Line Lincs, and Toggle Lincs still working fine).

Here are the diagnostics from an attempted auto discover. . .it's pretty much the same thing when you try to manually add.

Since its with in the 2 year warranty period I would not invest too much time to resolve this. Just submit a RMA request with SH and they will get you squared away.

Being that two RF only devices have comm issues look into the Dual Band device(s) the thermostats would communicate through to get to the PLM.  Are any other devices, particularly RF only devices, experiencing comm issues?  Perhaps something happened to one of the devices used to couple the 120v legs was unplugged or turned Off.

The first three commands sent to the thermostat failed to get any response from thermostat

Good advice from both of you. . .thanks very much!  LeeG's comment about the thermostats being RF-only rang a bell for me.  I have two Lamplincs that I use primarily as dual band repeaters.  While both of them appeared to still be working, I relinked them both and. . .lo and behold. . .the thermostats both started responding again!  They have been working fine again now for about a week, so I'm hoping the problem is solved.  Thank you both very much for your help.
