List of Compatible Devices?

Perhaps there is a list somewhere. Until then , I think you are safe assuming compatibility. If not, history suggests it soon will be.

To be very specific not all Insteon devices are supported by UDI. As far as I can tell it comes down to how many people they believe are going to use or have said Insteon device(s).

A list of devices not supported by the ISY:

1. Energy Monitor Display: http://www.smarthome.com/insteon-2448a2-energy-display.html

2. Insteon Flood Stop: http://www.smarthome.com/onsite-pro-fs1nptw-whole-home-wireless-floodstop-with-1-inch-valve.html

3. There a few more but I will need to go back to the archives to confirm.

Not all features of all devices are supported by the ISY, for example, setting the thermostat to ºC or adjusting the thermostat backlight. But, these are usually set just once, so, for most, it's not a problem

BTW, if you are inclined, and it is important enough to you, you could try a forum search. Compatibility with new devices is typically identified in the announcement for new releases.

One interesting topic surfaced:

http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/14735-insteon-onoff-outlet-2663-222-review/

That's a nice review and answers my question about this device. But forum posts shouldn't be considered official documentation.

I still think it would be nice for UDI to list all the compatible devices in the manual or on the Wiki.

Unfortunately, when one asks in a forum, forum posts are the likely reponse.

Universal Devices is better than most with involvement in forums, but this is still dominated by users not affiliated with the company. Perhaps they will see this question and respond. Direct communication with them is probably a better option if you pass along the suggestion or seek official documentation.

For the record, I agree that there should be such a list, and probably is somewhere in the records of UDI.

Officially when you select the drop down list in the ISY UI those are supported devices the system was designed to support.

People have tried in the past such as I to use an existing device signature (brute force) to make something operate.

It does not always work or has limited function.
