Kwikset 914 Zwave deadbolt and ISY994

Hi Folks,

I just got my zwave module and am trying to "include" my lock.  According to the instructions on the lock I merely hold the controller portion of the lock (with the batteries installed) no more than 12" away from the ISY and go into "adding new zwave device" on my ISY.

I have done this, a few times, to no avail.  The ISY just sits there "listening" for a zwave device.

Has anyone paired this particular lock?  Anything I am missing?

Thanks!

Just FYI, I have 2 of these that I installed in March of last year and they both have 50% battery left. I have had no issues with either of my locks. I'm actually impressed with how long the batteries have lasted.

HI Folks - another issue - all of a sudden ISY has lost communication to my lock - they are about 15 feet apart in an open room.

I have tried excluding the device (so I can re-add it) - but that refuses to work, and when I "add" the device it says it has updated it - but still no status or communication.

What should I check next?

As far as I know - nothing has changed at all unless my ISY auto upgraded itself - I am at 4.2.18

TIA,

Matt

I was finally able to remove it- and when I readd it (after a fresh reboot) i get this error log and the device shows up as "uninitialized".

Hi Matt,

It seems that your device is not responding properly to secure commands. Please a) replace the battery B) factory reset it and c) make sure you exclude it before including it again.

With kind regards,

Michel

Factory reset done - lock is still acting the same way - just can't get it to pair up.  Let me open a case with Kwikset.  I can already feel them telling me that it must be my controller.

I have a Kwikset lock and when I first installed it I was having issues with communication , it kept failing and I would have to exclude and add it multiple times. I searched the forums and found that someone had posted about the position of the external antenna could be a factor. I moved the antenna from a vertical position to a horizontal position and my lock has worked flawless since.

I am using the internal antenna - and am literally 10 feet away.  But I can't even get it to pair anymore.  I will call Kwikset tomorrow and see how that goes and post back.

I just installed my first kwikset 916 lock and at first I couldn't get it to include.  After reading this post, I excluded it - then included it and that worked find.  In addition, however, I also did the ""Advanced - Update Z Wave Firmware" option in the ISY.  This might help you as well.  After that, including worked mostly fine (once it didn't include - but excluded again and then include worked).

Good luck.

Mark
