I'm not sure what the depth is, but looks like a simple REST interface, so at a simple level we could push commands from the ISY with the network module to Harmony, and hopefully push commands from Harmony to ISY as well...  But, it seems like a plugin on the ISY side would be the best interface.  Then UDI could get free advertising by adding the "Control with Harmony" feature.

You are welcome.  I have been a Harmony user for a really long time as well, as soon as I found the WAF was really high, I got them for all entertainment centers!  I'm still using the older 880/890's, but I am recylcing one of my old 880's at best buy this week to get the $100 off coupon for an Ultimate Home setup, so I am really interested in this as well.

 

If anyone else find's out more please let us know.

Sorry to comment on an old topic, but I couldn't find anything newer on this via search.  I see that Harmony did release some more info.  Hopefully this is something that can be added to the ISY.  It would make my life much easier (so I don't have to do IR repeating all over the house just to get my harmony remotes to control the ISY.

Will the ISY with 5.x be able to do OAuth?  That appears to be a requirement of the Harmony API.

Just voicing my support for efforts in this area. Harmony hub arrived yesterday and so far it's a hit the family. Would love to tie it in with my ISY. Common use cases would involve selecting an Activity on the Harmony remote and having that auto trigger events on my ISY.

Chiming in with my support too -- my old Philips Pronto remote is about to give up the ghost, and with the features I see in the Harmony Ultimate it looks like a great replacement -- and if it can also communicate with the ISY, that would be one step closer to a fully integrated home.

 

Anyone know of news in this area?

It's already possible to use a Harmony Home Hub to control your ISY devices either as "Harmony Devices" or as part of "Harmony Activities." This works either with the Harmony smartphone app or a remote such as the Harmony Home Control.
 
The only thing that's required is the "amazon-echo-ha-bridge" version 0.2.0 or later. This is a Java app that you would run on an always-on computer like a PC or Raspberry Pi. Although it has Amazon Echo in the name an Echo isn't required.
 
This software emulates a Philips Hue Bridge. It accepts commands from Harmony and forwards them to the ISY in a format the ISY can understand.
 
The emulator is at https://github.com/armzilla/amazon-echo-ha-bridge/releases. It's started using the following command on a PC (change 123.123.123.123 to the IP address of the computer the emulator is running on): 
java -jar amazon-echo-bridge-0.2.0.jar --upnp.config.address=123.123.123.123
To make it easier to set up g1of4 wrote an ECHO Mapper/Configurator to map ISY devices to names that the emulator makes visible to the Harmony. More info about both the emulator and the mapper software is at http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/16337-echo-mapperconfigurator/

Thanks, this is on my list to get running, but does this make it easy to send commands from the ISY to the harmony? Currently I do that with ifttt, but would prefer an option that ran completely inside my lan.

I just saw this morning that Harmony now officially supports Insteon via the Insteon Hub.  Seems like ISY development team is falling behind as the Insteon Hub is getting tons of killer features like Apple Watch support and now true Harmony integration.  I haven't seen any good updates for the ISY in forever...

Thank you so very much for the reference links. I've been putting around as to what I was going to do with these two *TEST* HUB II's I had on hand.

 

Perhaps this might offer me a bridge / gateway to integrate more Zigbee devices & products into my HA system. I also have to agree every once in awhile now and then Smartlabs makes a big push which results in advances not seen in other controllers.

 

Those being Apple Home Kit, AllJoyn, and now Harmony support.

 

As much as I bag on them from time to time I have to give them credit in starting the process and getting other 3rd party vendors to support their protocol.

That version of the Inteon HUB is ONLY used for people planning on using Apple's Home Kit its called the HUB Pro, only to be used with Apple's Homekit). It is limited in supporting of Insteon devices, in most cases removes some of the basic functions that most people are used to using. And very very limited in devices it can control.

 

I have tge standard newer version of the HUB 1. mine is listed as model: 2245-22, its different then that HUB Pro for Apple.

 

I just wanted that to be clear for everyone.

 

It does nothing for people that are not using the Apple platform. I give two hoots about Apple and never will. Appe controls the experience and right out of the gate, Apple never give full control. Take the iPhone, it originally didnot have apps, then people complained and they slowly allowed xcertain app, it took a while to get to where it is now and it still does not allow full control. That's the reason I no longer use Apple, my first computer was an Apple MacIntosh 512K. So I know and loved Apple for years.

 

Now I am Windows and Android and I took the money I saved by not spending it on Apple bloated prices and now have a house full of Insteon products.

 

And before I forget, I own two Logitech Harmony Ultimate's (at the time, when the first came out, it cost me $375 for each).

 

I am a Harmony fan and that is the reason I purchased the ISY, it was to maintain support for the IR comminications. I had set the Harmony with the X-10 coomands and controlled everything from the Harmony.

 

Because Insteon decided to stop including support for the X-10 protocol in the newer devices coming out, you can no longer control everything with the Harmony if it did not have X-10 support.

 

The ISY commands are supported on the Harmony now, without Insteon having to make any partnerships. It was Logitech's needing the Home Automation vendors, not the other way around.

 

Logitech was losing customers to the Smartphone revolotion era.

 

So now the are; any day now, release a brand new HUB that will interface with the Home Automation industry.

 

If I'm not mistaken this new HUB will support Z-Wav.

Here is what that page says it will end up controlling, it does list specific protocols but I'm sure someone here can figure out what it is by the list of products:

So what can it do and how bad is that for ISY or and other of the companies that offer central controllers?

 

I doubt it will replace the ISY, but maybe making an API available between the two companies, might benefit both companies.

 

Get Logitech to work exclusively with ISY, then with every Harmony sold an ISY is sold, or bundled with.

 

Logitech needs the software that ISY uses and I SY needs the Interface product that controld the ISY that controls all the other devices, such as

insteon, Z-wave, etc.

 

Because the wat Logitech is doing it, they will end up having to support all of those products separately

 

If they team up with ISY, the don't have to worry about dea with all the protocols out there, the ISY does it all already. Make it very simple for them.

 

Maybe even consider a licensing deal. I think someone once told me that Univeral Media is really a software company that uses a priority hardware device tha their software goes on. If that is true maybe licensing the software makes sense.

 

What I'm not sure of is if any of these protocols require a picense. I know reading that Zigbee is open sourse?

 

Anyway, I was actually think of purchasing this new HUB to add-on to my existing Ultimate units.

 

When I go into the webpage that programs my actual Harmony units, its listing the new HUB as an add-on, along side with the Keyboard add-on and the basic remote add-on. I have both of those add-ons now, just not the new HUB. Its not available yet, but today in writing this message I noticed they have a price for it of $99.

 

BTW: The keyboard add-on is in a box collecting dust. I couldn't figure what good it was for. It was strange just to use a full keyboard to control a tv and cable box, it doesn't fit in one hand! LOL!

Seems like a lot has been written on this so far.  Simple question, is my ISY able to directly communicate to my Harmony Ultimate Hub over IP directly or is it still only IR?  Is this going to be an option soon? I would love to be able to have more freedom in where I place the ISY now. It is confined to my equipment rack because of the IR requirement.  But if I could talk directly over IP between the Harmony Hub and the ISY I could place my ISY in a much better spot.

 

I am also surprised there isn't a WiFi option yet as well.  Maybe there is.  I haven't really read the boards a lot lately.

 

One thing that would be really great is if there was a way to get the Harmony software to lable the buttons on the ISY device screen so that I don't have to keep a list of Button 1 is Movie Lights.  Button 2 is Bar Lights and so on. That way, I would see the buttons labled correctly whenever I would look at the ISY device in the Harmony software and could assign them without having to go back to the ISY screens to see what they are when creating an activity.  I know that this is probably a restriction of the Harmony setup software more than the ISY but it sure would be great if this could be done somehow.
