Adding Z-Wave devices

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am moving from a Vera setup with a number of Z-wave and INSTEON devices to a ISY994i ZW/IR.  My z-wave network communicated fine with the Vera.  I have added some z-wave switches which are colocated with the ISY (and the Vera) but I can't seem to add anything on the floor just above them.  Any reason this would work with the Vera but not the ISY?  Any hints on how I could address this.  Thanks in advance.

Have you been excluding them before including them?

Internal, or external antenna?

I was using an external - and their donut shaped radio propagation essentially means a dead spot directly above (and below) the ISY. Switching to internal, disconnecting my external and power cycling ISY substantially improved my zwave communication.

Hi MWareman,

Thanks for the suggestion - however, I didn't even get the external antenna.  I do have a number of other LAN drops in my house, and used those to move the ISY to different locations in the house.  This has gotten me about 75% there.  My main level is the one lacking LAN drops and thus is the area where I am having the most trouble adding devices.  Once devices are added - I seem to be able to get status for them from various spots.  But, I haven't checked that in detail yet.

Where is the ISY in relation to where the Vera is?  Maybe try a Z-Wave Heal on the ISY as I believe that has it check the mesh network and update associations and what not.

The ISY is right next to the Vera (eventually plan to replace it).  I tried the heal, but that didn't help.  Thanks again,

I tried having it vertically (have it mounted that way) -- but that hasn't helped any :{

Hi nasa01,

Can you please check and see if you can include it again to Vera.

As far as heal, please note that to might have to do it multiple times till such time that all operations are successful.

Also please note that we have seen instances where vera itself caused interference. So you might want to unplug vera and retest.

With kind regards,

Michel

Hi Michel,

I can include the device(s) with the Vera - and I have the vera unplugged when I have tried to include the devices (and I having issue with a number of them).  I appreciate the help!  Keep throwing the suggestions at me, one of them is bound to work :mrgreen:
