andrew77 Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 ...so no laughing. I too had a power failure but everything seemed to reboot fine (the outage happened when I was away). But when I go through the GUI(by highlighting the item on the left( SWLs, KPLs, etc...) I see the ONSTATE, ON LEVEL, RAMP RATE, and PROPERTIES boxes on everything butnothing for the B to H kpl buttons and nothing on the remotelinc at all. I upgraded to the latest ISY version but that didn't seem to help. Should I not see the state of each button on the KPLs? I could swear they were there before but if Michel says I'm crazy I'll accept that too. HAHAHA Drew
aLf Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Mine does the same. I believe that if you push the KPL button on and off ISY wil then see it. Welcome to ISY and power outages. I'm thankful to UDI every time the power company loses it. And yes, ISY does a great job on the reboot.
andrew77 Posted November 9, 2008 Author Posted November 9, 2008 First off thanks for the speedy reply. I thought I'd hear something by Monday but maybe I can get to the solution tonight. First off, I'm not crazy (small cheer) Secondly, do I push the KPLs (I'm assuming the b to h buttons, not the reset button) while the GUI is up and running? Or do I run around and push all the buttons that don't show up and then boot up the ISY GUI? Drew
d_l Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 I don't know if this will help, but I was just curious. Do you do an automatic Query of every thing following a reboot or power loss?
Sub-Routine Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 While KeypadLincs seem to have a status for each button... RemoteLincs and ControLincs do not have a status. They do not remember what button you pressed. They do not control a load. The ISY keeps track of the button presses and calculates a status for those devices. When the ISY is reset it automatically queries all devices and apparently it resets the status for such devices as unknown because these devices cannot be queried. The same will be true for the new Motion Sensor. And any other devices you have that a query fails on (disconnected units, communication interference, etc.). ...All the KeypadLincs do have a status for one load. That is why button 1 always shows a status. I have four buttons on a KPL that control the same group of lights at various levels and I have them all set to non-toggle on. The buttons are always illuminated (on) but that does not indicate that any particular scene is on. In fact only one (or none) of the scenes can be on at once. IIRC only some versions of KPLs can report the status of the buttons. After I typed all that I realize I should have just said, This is an Insteon limitation. Rand
andrew77 Posted November 9, 2008 Author Posted November 9, 2008 Hi Rand; I'm not sure from your post if I should see the status of the B to H buttons (I seem to think I did at one point but can't now). I'm also missing a SWL from the ISY. Should I just air gap it? What's the procedure for re-discovering a SWL? One more thing, my programs or timers don't seem to work. They are listed in the GUI but when I double tap a SWL to trigger a scene, the scene doesn't happen. I'm not sure what I should do to get everything up and running again. Everything was great, flawless for months but now I'm a little stumped again. Any help whould be great. Drew
Michel Kohanim Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Hi Drew, If you had a power failure, then in all likehood your PLM and/or some of your devices may have gone bad: 1. Can you query all your devices? 2. Can you turn on/off all your devices from within ISY? If you are not getting status changes back from your devices, you might want to try File->Restore Modem (PLM). Make sure you do NOT use File->Remove Modem. With kind regards, Michel Hi Rand;I'm not sure from your post if I should see the status of the B to H buttons (I seem to think I did at one point but can't now). I'm also missing a SWL from the ISY.
