tmorse305 Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 I just purchased an ISY994i IR PRO to replace a Cortexa (and some HouseLinc) automation controller. So I'm new to ISY but not home automation. I have a new motion sensor that I bought and have linked it to the ISY, it's the only device linked. I factory reset the sensor prior to linking and it is working correctly reporting both motion, dawn/dusk and battery(off) to the ISY. The problem comes when I try to modify the option settings. I set the led flashing on the MS then click the options button and I get an error message "Request Failed". Once the Option screen is open I click the query button but get the same error message. I linked it to my Houselinc software just to make sure the MS is working. From the Houselinc I was able to set to the options. So I think the MS is OK. Any suggestions? Thank you.
stusviews Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Sounds like you do not have many (or any) dual-band devices. The MS is RF only. Try bringing it closer the the serial PLM. BTW, what are you using to interface between HouseLinc and the powerline.
tmorse305 Posted September 12, 2015 Author Posted September 12, 2015 The only dual band device currently connected to the ISY is the PLM itself. The MS is about 6ft away from the PLM. Since I can read the motion, dawn/dusk and battery status I figure i was close enough. The HouseLinc is also connect via a USB PLM. I have many dual band devices in my house but I haven't linked any of them to the ISY yet. I was starting small just to get the feel of the ISY.
LeeG Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 (edited) Run Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer at LEVEL 3. Put MS into linking mode and click Options. Update a setting such as Timeout. When System Busy in lower left corner is no longer displayed, copy event trace to clipboard (icon at bottom right next to last of event viewer viewer window). Post to forum. Is jumper #5 on the MS installed to allow remote software management?
tmorse305 Posted September 13, 2015 Author Posted September 13, 2015 Jumper #5 is set for software control. Here is the Event Viewer dump: Sat 09/12/2015 08:33:02 PM : [All ] Writing 0 bytes to devices This single entry occurred after I tried to update an option
LeeG Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 (edited) What does Tools | Diagnostics | PLM Info/Status show. The trace provides no information as it looks like the ISY may be having an issue with the PLM. Also what does Help | About show for Firmware and UI levels. Edited September 13, 2015 by LeeG

All battery operated devices go into sleep mode to prolong battery. The set button must be pressed for about 4 seconds to put the device into linking mode in order to do a write Edited September 13, 2015 by Techman

LeeG Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 The ISY has Firmware 4.0.5 (very old firmware). Update to 4.2.30 at a minimum.
jerlands Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 The MS was in linking mode prior to the write attempt. Here are the screen shots you requested. You either need to upgrade your FW or downgrade your UI.. they need to be the same..
tmorse305 Posted September 13, 2015 Author Posted September 13, 2015 Upgrading to 4.2.30 solved the problem. Thank you very much for your help!
