Monitor power usage from Insteon switches and plugs.

Is there any plan for the Insteon switches to be able to also track power usage and report that info to iPhone.

HI douyon,

 

Except for using an iMeter Solo, INSTEON does not have any switches that also track energy. Z-Wave does.

Any thoughts about allowing a user to enter the size of the load, then using the ISY's device state tracking to 'estimate' energy usage? It would be handy to have even this imperfect data to make decisions on when switching to backup power or when an energy alert is declared.

You can enter the load and device class for each node in ISY (in the dashboard) but currently we do not do anything with it because it requires major processing for all types of events.
