First I get the warning message asking if really want to permanently delete the scene but then there are no other messages.  It just doesn't do it.

Have you tried removing devices from the scene before deleting?

Jon...

I had not!  I just tried it though and still didn't work.  I can do nothing with this scene.  I can't move it to a new folder, delete it, remove devices, nothing.  Did you look at the screen shot?  Most of the scenes have white text below the scene name that is a 5 digit number and then says "Managed Scene".  That one is completely garbled.  No idea where it came from.

I have rebooted several times to no avail.  Its stuck in there.  My backup is old otherwise I would just restore a backup.  Backups are another issue that I haven't posted yet.  When I try to back I get a message that it cannot create the zip file and errors out.  I'm on a mac.

I have been seeing this same issue with back ups too. It has been suggested (assuming this applies to you) that if you have lots of network resources to suspend them.

Once that is done try to create a back up . . .

If that doesn't work the next step is to disable any programs that might cause a race / loop condition. Doing both should allow you to complete a back up.

If neither resolves the issue you should try to do this on a Windows PC. As its been an issue on Mac / Linux box's for random people in the past. Also, it should be noted several releases of that stupid Java has impacted the controller.

Which may also be the cause of some of these issues some of us are seeing now.

God, I can't wait for Java to just die and go away . . .

Hi klebel,

Have you recently changed the PLM? This is usually due to the PLM not having the same address as what's in the nodes. Also, have you ever done a File | Delete Modem?

What you might want to try is to right mouse click on any of the devices in the scene | Diagnostics | Show Device Link Table and then click on Compare. Once that's done make sure a) they are identical and B) you don't have any 00 00 00 records in the middle.

With kind regards,

Michel

Sorry, must be that I am on a windows machine.  I see various Scenes that have been expanded but there is no Managed Scene anywhere on the displayed image.

Thanks for the tip Michel.  I did the diagnostics that you suggested.  There are 10 records, 7 say identical and 3 say Identical/Ignore.  There are no 00 00 00 records in the middle.  Any other thoughts?  I don't have a current backup because I was getting errors that it couldn't create the zip file.  Now I am getting very nervous that I will have to wipe the ISY clean and start from scratch.  That would be a disaster.

When prompted to save the backup on your Mac, where are you pointing it?  If not a location within your User folder, this may simply be a permissions issue.  Try saving to the Desktop, Documents or anywhere else within your home folder.  The ISY File chooser often defaults to locations outside of the home folder and many times those locations are not writable.

Hope this helps.

I had the backup issue, too.  This link had info that fixed it for me:  http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/11762-cannot-backup-isy/?do=findComment&comment=127682

Brilliant!  That link fixed it!  We seriously need to get this sort of stuff added to the Wiki.  Funny enough it was Xanthros that answered it in that last link as well.  It was the last Java security setting in Safari that I was missing.  It wasn't setup to run in Unsafe Mode.  Now just to figure out my original problem about the corrupt scene that is causing so many problems. :)

Awesome!  Glad I could help.

Now, based on the the above, I am assuming that you are launching the admin console from the ISY Web interface each time.  May I suggest that you instead, install the Admin console as an Icon on your desktop and launch it from there.

Download and run this file: http://isy.universal-devices.com/994i/4.3.26/admin.jnlp

This will create an icon on your desktop for the admin console.  Try again to delete the scene using this console and report back.

If you cannot delete, try clicking each device within the scene one at a time and look at the displayed info for each device.  Do any look strange/wrong/bad ?  If so, try removing the bad device from the ISY tree and see if that helps out the state of this scene.

I wonder if a /rest/nodes dump from a firefox session would shown anything useful related to this scene...

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys.  I tried it again with the local admin console on the desktop and still no deal.  I can't delete, move, remove device or another activity.  Its pretty corrupt.  Weird.  Other thoughts?

I did thanks.  My wife has a Windows 7 box that I tried it from as well.  It is only this one corrupt scene with the bizarre naming that I never created.  It just "showed up".  Everything else seems to be working fine.
