New issue with Portal ?

I have been using the url given by the portal for admin access to two different ISY's for a week.

As of last night (to the best of my knowledge) when I open the admin panel on multiple pc's and attemp to connect to either one, I get the login pop up, but correct credentials result in "Failed, retry Authenticating"

Was there a change in the Portal ??

UGH! My Portal email address is long, Kind of a drag typing it in every time I open the Admin Console. Can I change my user ID and password on the ISY back to what it used to be? (I know the procedure, but I'm afraid it will break something).

Portal credentials are separate from ISY credentials.

I'm confused. When I log into the console through its IP address, I need to use my ISY credentials, but if I access the console through the portal (ISY Web Access>Settings> Install Admin Console), I now need to use my portal credentials. Same screen prompt, different username and password.

When I select Install Admin Console from the portal, I use the same credentials that I use when I log from my computer without the portal. I do not use my portal credentials. In fact, my portal credentials do not work to log in to the Admin Console.

No. One set of credentials to access the Admin Console no matter how you access it, from the desktop using the applet, from a browser, via the portal when selecting Install Admin Console or any other method.

Then why is it doing it repeatably? I now need to use my portal login email address as the user name when I access from the AJAX interface, but I need to use my old user name from the from the local machine.

 

I know it doesn't make sense, but that's what it's doing.

 

To clarify, My ISY finder window has one entry for the DYNDNS address (http://mydomain@dyndns.org...), and another for the portal link address (https://my.isy.io/isy/fdd3ea......) I need different credentials for each one, although they are the same device.

I use the same credentials when I use the AJAX interface as I do when using the applet. If I open the portal and select ISY Web access, the AJAX interface opens w/o credentials. But that's only if I use the portal.

 

How do you access the AJAX intreface? I use the IP address from a browser.

That requires the portal credentials. You can also access the AJAX interface by browsing to the IP address you assigned to the ISY, bypassing the portal altogether.

To access the UI (administration console) you would use http://your.isy.ipaddress/admin(if you're using the java applet) or in case of the java application click on the icon created on the desktop.

Bob, no those are both the same.

 

The Portal Module installed in the ISY provides another doorway to login to the ISY, using the portal email address and password as credentials. This applies to logging in to the admin console and ISY hosted web pages.

• When you attach directly to your ISY, either on your LAN or through an open router port, you use your User ID and Password that you originally set up in the ISY
• When you attach via the portal, you use your portal email address and password.. both for web logins, and for admin console.

Thanks, Paul. I guess I'm not going crazy with the two different logins. It's odd behavior, seeing the exact same screen and dialog box, but needing entirely different credentials.

 

I guess I'll continue to bypass the portal for the Admin Console when I can, and use it mainly for the Echo. I hate having to type in thirty-something characters for email address and password to log in.

If you add an ISY to the ISY Finder using the portal URL (as found under ISY information in the portal - see attached screenshot) for the ISY, then attempt to connect to that entry in the ISY finder, you will have to use the portal credentials to log into that console.  I do this now for my office ISY which is behind a firewall that I cannot port forward through.

 

Connecting to the ISY using it's IP address, for via port forwarding will use the ISY credentials instead.  As others have pointed out above, this can be confusing as there is no indication from the admin console login dialog as to what method was used to connect.

I agree.  It would be nice if the AC Login would allow us to remember the user id and only need to enter the password.  Alas, it does not.

 

My solution is to use TextExpander on my MAC.  This allows me to type a short code that expands into my full email address instantly (I use this frequently).  If your on Windows, look at AutoText for the same capability.

Was scrolling down to post note about Text Expander when I saw your note. Agree 100%. Use this often for many things. Great timesaver.
