I have two of these thermostats and, for the most part, they do what I need them to do using my Mac and iPhone. However, management my ISY would further enhance their ease of use and power. If there are difficulties with their services or the internet, control is lost. Depending on the type of control, this might not be a problem. With what I have automated, I would be uncomfortable with that. They have not formally released their API to the public, rather specific software companies. Some smart enthusiasts have "reversed engineered" the API, not something Honeywell will want to support. I believe that this is still true, its bee a while since I read about it. There are different APIs for the RTH and other models Solutions that allow functionality via RPi programs, etc, are web page scraped and ultimately the solution breaks, unannounced, if honeywell changes their mind on a technical approach. UDI as a company directly supports no Wifi thermostats that I am aware of. The do support native insteon thermostats, zwave thermostats and some zigbee thermostats. There are developers have developed solutions to integrate wifi thermostats with the ISY, but these solutions usually involve running a server . Another route is IFTTT, but I don't know if that would be 2 way communication, or command only Not the answer you wanted, but I don't believe this is on the near horizon. Paul Link to comment

Jon- It would have to be programmed in python. Polyglot enables python code to interface with the ISY. On the other side, there would need to be an API from python to the thermostat. If UDI had the Honeywell API there is the possibility of localized control using ISY (goes for any networked device having the API thus avoiding the cloud?) Jon... Link to comment

On a related note, I'll have initial support for "Total Connect Comfort" thermostats in NodeLink by the end of the weekend. Initially it will just be to send data to the ISY. If I do, I will post it. I have done that many times and have never heard back. I also requested to become a dev to get access to the apis, no response. I have made at least two dozen calls to various departments and talked to many people to get no where. I grabbed an ear of them at CES and CEDIA and gotten names and emails to contact which I have done, to guess what...NO RESPONSE! There are vera edge plugins that scape the TCC website which is basically a hack. If the site changes then it goes down and doesnt work. I even asked in another thread if anyone was willing to chip in and pay for a dev to help us setup a similar hack for the ISY but everyone flaked when it comes to putting up money or cheapskates. I would be willing to keep pushing this but how much is this worth to you and if you lost access and we cant fix it how upset would you be? $100 each of us to hire a dev? How many would be in? This is just a webscrape and could stop working at any time. A Venstar T7900 will be better for most with a local API. Link to comment
kohai Posted January 23, 2016 Share Posted January 23, 2016 My units occasionally say they have lost their wifi connection and then later pick it back up (2 of 5 do it quite a bit and it seems to be location specific not thermostat specific). At some point I hope to find a spectrum analyzer to borrow to test why. Link to comment

I really want one with its own Internet access, and ability to control with the ISY, since the house is a 4 hour drive I wanted both in case one fails. For ISY994 integration, I went with the Z-Wave enabled Honeywell YTH8320ZW1007/U, For local control the UI is almost identical to the older Honeywell touch screen thermostats, and remote control via ISY994iZ is very easy and has been reliable.
