tboustead Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Hi, I have an InLineLinc that I control using a Mini Remote and this works fine. The ISY-994 however only detects the proper on/off status of the InlineLinc when manually changed on the Inlinelinc. It does not detect that the status changes when set from the remote. It I initiate a query from the Admin console it updates the status correctly. How can I get the ISY to detect the correct status automatically when changed from the remote? Thanks, Tim

Thanks, Tim Hello Tim, Did you link the remote to the ILL directly? Also are you sure the remote is a controller of the ILL?
tboustead Posted January 29, 2016 Author Posted January 29, 2016 Yes, the mini remote is directly linked to the ILL as a controller. The ILL output follows the on/off/dim commands from the remote.
stusviews Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Battery powered devices need to be in linking mode to update their status. Or updated via a program.
Brian H Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 If you used the manual Set Button linking method and did not use the ISY Administrative Console to do the linking. It will not see the Remotelinc change to the InLineLinc.
tboustead Posted January 29, 2016 Author Posted January 29, 2016 I used the Admin console to link the ILL to the ISY and then manually linked the remote to the ILL. Shouldn't the ILL report its status change to the ISY regardless of set locally (on/off button) or via the remote? I have the remote now linked to the ISY as well although I'm not sure what that really gets me. I was hoping I could see battery status however this is not the case. If the process I used to link the remote is an issue I can redo the linking but I'll need some help as I've never used a remote before. How would I link the remote to the IIL through the Admin console? Thanks, Tim
LeeG Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 The ISY knows when a Mini Remote button is pressed because the Mini Remote was added to the ISY. The ISY knows when the InlineLinc is operated manually because the InlineLinc was added to the ISY. The ISY does not know the Mini Remote changed the InlineLinc because the two devices were linked together outside of ISY. Insteon does not notify the ISY in this case. That is how Insteon works. All linking must be done with the ISY. Define an ISY Scene using Link Management | New Scene Add the Mini Remote button and InlineLinc to ISY Scene as Controllers. Right click on Mini Remote button node, select Add to Scene ..... Do the same thing for InlineLinc. Be sure to put Mini Remote into linking mode so Scene link can be written to device. ISY Scene xxxxx Mini Remote button as Controller InlineLinc as Controller
