austin_john
I finally had to replace my PLM, as it was losing links, etc. I followed the procedure to replace the PLM, including "Restore Modem" on the ISY, which, according to the Admin Console, worked fine. However, some of my programs are not working. For example, I have one light switch programmed so that when you double tap it 'off', it turns off all the lights in an area - which is no longer working. Also, when the garage door opens at night, it has a program to turn on two lights - not working. However, others, such as the automatic on/off of the landscape lights and the programs for keypads are working. Any suggestions on troubleshooting would be appreciated! Link to comment
paulbates
It sounds like things the ISY initiates on schedules like landscape lights work, but you're not receiving commands from some switches to the ISY (?) Do any of the devices have a "1010" icon next to them? If so, right click and write updates to those devices, this is a common occurrence for restore modem If there are no "1010" icons, right click on the affected devices and Restore device. Again, this is not an uncommon side effect of restoring a modem Paul Link to comment
austin_john
Hi Paul - Thanks for the reply. None of the devices have the "1010" icons and I did try to Restore Device to the affected devices, but this did not help. Link to comment
paulbates
For the garage lights, I assume that that's an iolinc, and there is a scene linking the sensor to the switches that control the lights? If so, can you click on the scene, are the switches in there as responders? Edit: Sorry, your write up said program. Does the ISY recognize the io_linc in the properstate when the door is up vs down Link to comment
austin_john
No - it does not recognize the state of either of the devices - the light switch or the io_linc. However, I can control the devices from the Admin Panel. Link to comment
paulbates
I would factory reset the iolinc and then restore device. I've had problems with one in my garage that I've had to handle that way. Paul Link to comment
austin_john
Ok - I will try that with both devices. Thanks Link to comment
austin_john
The factory reset of the devices did not work. In case I made an error on installing the PLM, I did this: Tip: You should never replace your PLM while ISY is running because it assumes the PLM that it started with is still connected. The ISY will appear to work, but it will be writing the address of the old PLM into the device links, thus you will not see devices updates etc.Its easy to recover if you have done this;- restart ISY (leaving the new PLM plugged into ISY - Important!)- Do a "Restore Modem" The Restore Modem is not working properly - it only takes about 10 seconds and it should take several minutes. paulbates
Unplug the PLM and the ISY. Wait 10 seconds. Plug the PLM back, wait 5 seconds, plug the ISY back in Repeat the restore plm Paul Link to comment
austin_john
Ok - no difference in the Restore Modem time nor in the operation of the system. I tried resetting the PLM: - Unplug PLM & ISY, disconnect ISY from PLM - Wait 30 seconds - Hold Set on PLM and Plug In, hold until beep, green LED comes on - Unplug PLM and connect ISY - Plug in PLM - Restore Modem - it shows 1% and stops - no error, but not restoring I have a second backup PLM, which I will try to install, using the normal process. paulbates
It looks like part of steps 4 and 5 are out of order, the PLM gets plugged in and then bring the ISY up http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:File_Menu#Restore_Modem_.28PLM.29 Link to comment
austin_john
Ok - tried that and the Restore Modem process did complete normally, but the system is still operating as stated in the first post. Link to comment
paulbates
Ok, the next level is to look at the details: For each of the two devices: Tools Diagnostics Show Device Links Tools Diagnostics Show ISY Links Post the results back here. Link to comment
jerlands
The Restore Modem is not working properly - it only takes about 10 seconds and it should take several minutes. What is your PLM Links count ( Tools > Diagnostics > Show PLM Links Table?) Jon... Link to comment
austin_john
Ok - I have noticed there are more than just the two devices that are not updating status. Jon - the PLM Links Count is 15 Here are some sample tables: Garage Door Sensor Device Links: 0 : 0FF8 : A2 00 00.00.00 FF 1F 01 1 : 0FF0 : E2 01 1C.FC.B2 FF 1F 01 2 : 0FE8 : A2 00 1C.FC.B2 00 00 00 3 : 0FE0 : A2 00 34.E6.05 00 00 00 4 : 0FD8 : 00 00 00.00.00 00 00 00 Garage Door Sensor ISY Links: 0 : 0FF8 : 00 00 00.00.00 00 00 00 Driveway Lights Device Links: 0 : 0FF8 : A2 00 34.E6.05 FF 1F 01 1 : 0FF0 : AA 00 34.E7.B8 00 1C 01 2 : 0FE8 : AA 00 34.E6.05 00 1C 01 3 : 0FE0 : 00 00 1C.FC.B2 00 1C 01 Driveway Lights ISY Links: 0 : 0FF8 : A2 00 34.E6.05 FF 1F 01 1 : 0FF0 : 00 00 00.00.00 00 00 00 Fam Room S Switch Device Links: 0 : 0FF8 : A2 00 34.E6.05 FF 1F 01 1 : 0FF0 : A2 01 1C.B1.30 4C 1B 01 2 : 0FE8 : A2 03 30.0F.6A 60 1B 01 3 : 0FE0 : A2 04 30.0F.6A 49 1B 01 4 : 0FD8 : A2 05 30.0F.6A 66 1B 01 5 : 0FD0 : A2 06 30.0F.6A 00 1B 01 6 : 0FC8 : E2 01 1C.B1.30 FF 1F 01 7 : 0FC0 : 00 13 00.00.00 60 1B 01 Fam Room S Switch ISY Links: 0 : 0FF8 : A2 00 34.E6.05 FF 1F 01 1 : 0FF0 : A2 01 1C.B1.30 4C 1B 01 2 : 0FE8 : A2 03 30.0F.6A 60 1B 01 3 : 0FE0 : A2 04 30.0F.6A 49 1B 01 4 : 0FD8 : A2 05 30.0F.6A 66 1B 01 5 : 0FD0 : A2 06 30.0F.6A 00 1B 01 6 : 0FC8 : E2 01 1C.B1.30 FF 1F 01 7 : 0FC0 : 00 00 00.00.00 00 00 00 Link to comment
jerlands
Your PLM link count is very low.. this kinda suggests to me you did "Delete Modem." If so.. the only way to restore links in PLM is to reload last good backup to ISY then "Restore Modem." Jon... Link to comment
jerlands
Before making any changes... re-run PLM Links count several times to ensure count is accurate. Jon... Link to comment
austin_john
Hi Jon - No, I did not do the Delete Modem. I can restore a backup of ISY, if you think that will help. EDIT - I posted same time as your last post. Re-ran several times - 15 every time. Link to comment
jerlands
Approximately how may devices do you have? Jon... Link to comment
jerlands
Hi Jon - No, I did not do the Delete Modem. I can restore a backup of ISY, if you think that will help. EDIT - I posted same time as your last post. Re-ran several times - 15 every time. Restore from most recent backup will take ISY to the state it was in when it was made. That means any programs/devices you added from that time to the present will need to be created/linked for them to work. Jon... Link to comment
paulbates
The ISY is missing links. I would start with the restoring a recent backup. I think something happened to the ISY image Make a back up now, then, Restore from the most recent backup you have before today, and review ISY links if it looks more comparable, rerun your tests Paul Link to comment
LeeG
This looks like a File | Delete Modem (PLM) was issued, Garage Door Sensor Device Links: 0 : 0FF8 : A2 00 00.00.00 FF 1F 01 1 : 0FF0 : E2 01 1C.FC.B2 FF 1F 01 2 : 0FE8 : A2 00 1C.FC.B2 00 00 00 3 : 0FE0 : A2 00 34.E6.05 00 00 00 4 : 0FD8 : 00 00 00.00.00 00 00 00 Garage Door Sensor ISY Links: 0 : 0FF8 : 00 00 00.00.00 00 00 00 As Paul has already indicated a Restore of the ISY taken before the PLM was replaced is required. The I/O Linc Sensor must have a Controller link (starts with E2 01 xx.yy.zz ......) pointing to the new PLM address. xx.yy.zz Link to comment

austin_john
I have 14 devices + PLM. I will try a reset from last month before I upgraded firmware. Everything was working fine then and I have not made any changes since, other than replacing the failed PLM. Link to comment
stusviews
With only 14 devices, my suggestion is to factory reset everything and start over after writing down the names of the scenes you created and using the copy function the get a hard copy of all your programs. It'd be a great learning experience and I'm sure you'll improve greatly on what you've done Link to comment
